I don't know if I was scammed or this guy is just not up to date with all the newer technology on cars but I had to pay for a smog check and my car failed and was told that I needed new catalytic converters . Porsche $2000!?? and a tune up $1500??? and take it to some mechanic. I did some research on Google and the next day my car passed smog.I had to pay $62 for failed test and another $40 for this guy to retest my vehicle. definitely I was scammed or this guy is just not up to date with any of the newer vehicles . Do yourself a favor and get yourself a OBD2 scanner which you can get on Amazon for about 20 bucks if you come up with any fault codes while doing a smog check . my problem was I didn't drive my vehicle enough and the car needs to be warm and ready for this test to have happened it would have been nice if this guy explained anything but he seems so clueless and he just wants to take your money and move on to the next customer pass or failed This is an update to my review after coming here for the first time 4 years ago. I made an appointment for Friday August 21st 2020 at 8 a.m.. everything was fine I took my car here and I told the older gentleman that I needed a smog check and I haven't driven really my car at all in the last year-and-a-half and and he said no problem. After doing the smog check he said my car failed ,he suggested I get new catalytic converters have a mechanic look at it . I was extremely surprised knowing that my car just got a tune-up from Precision Porsche and it was driven mainly about 300 miles in the last 4 years. I did some research and turns out my car just needed to be put into a drive cycle and the catalyst wasn't ready. I did some research online and found out I needed to do a few things just to get the car ready for smog. Start engine, let idle for approx. 2 min, 10 secs Accelerate to 20-30 MPH or 32-48km/h, Maintain steady speed for approx 3 min, 15 secs Accelerate to 40-60 MPH or 64-96km/h, Maintain steady speed for approx 15 mins Decelerate and come to a stop Idle in Neutral for 5 mins (manual trans) During the drive cycle, do not exceed 3,000 rpm or 60 mph (96km/h) Saturday morning I followed the steps and the catalyst on my vehicle was ready. I called the smog shop again I told him that I needed a retest and the car was ready for it. The car pass smog with flying colors .

Cleanest smog shop in the area with a very professional staff.

This is the best smog shop in the area! Trust me. I've tried other smog shops and they don't even come close. It is the cleanest, most efficient, and professional smog shop. You're selling yourself short if you go to other smog shops.

Great little shop. Raken is not very talkative, but he is very quick, very focused, very efficient,…read moreand very organized. He knows exactly what he's talking about, and he's friendlier and more helpful too than his major competitors at G&G are. Smog Stop has a much more professional vibe and a much nicer waiting room too than G&G does. They have plenty of chairs and even a TV, and it's much neater and roomier than G&G's waiting room, so do yourself a favor and make Smog Spot your go-to spot in Redlands for smogging your vehicle. My car didn't pass the first time, but Raken kept reassuring me that there were no visible trouble codes which would indicate a problem or a mechanical failure. He advised me to just keep driving the vehicle and promised that it would eventually pass, which it did. I was doubtful, but he was totally right all along. I finally figured out that the key to passing for me was to get my car up to 70 mph and then immediately decelerate to 20, which of course you can't do on the freeway, but driving the back way into Highland over and over again finally got the job done. I must've gone back to Smog Stop at least five or six times to have Raken rescan my car's computer monitors to see if all my monitors had cleared, but he never complained, although I'm sure he got pretty sick of seeing me coming back so often for a rescan to assess my progress! It took me three weeks to get my car's monitors to finally clear, but Raken was really unbelievably patient with me. I just wish that I had asked him to scan my system prior to testing my vehicle the first time, because I had to pay $50 for the first failed test and then I had to pay an additional $50 because he had to test my car a second time too after all of my car's system monitors had finally cleared, but he did give me a $12 discount on the retest. They also do other types of repair work at this shop, including smog repairs, but Raken was always too busy and too focused to specify exactly what other types of mechanical jobs they can tackle, although I did ask him twice. The good news is that they do seem to be totally focused on smog checks and not on finding additional mechanical issues that they can potentially charge you for. Just be aware that you will have to pay $38 for a second test if your car doesn't pass the first time. The only good thing I can say about Smog Stop's competitor G&G is that they don't charge you for a second test if your car fails the first time. So if you have recently replaced or recharged your battery, as I did, and if you're not entirely certain about the readiness level of your car's system monitors, please be sure to ask Raken to check your system for readiness BEFORE you pay $50 for a test that will in all likelihood fail.

We drove through here…read moretoday for what we thought was a simple oil change and tire rotation on our way back home up the mountain. Biggest mistake of our life! We started regretting it, after an hour of sitting in the car bay with multiple employees apologizing for the wait, and making small talk with us, we smiled and said no problem. Well it ended up being a freaking problem!! Little did we know a problem it would end up costing us big! Sharlee was the girl, definitely cannot call her a tech of any kind, that did the tire rotation...‍ we knew we were screwed when she walked up to our window and said, "I'm sorry", holding not ONE but TWO stripped out lugs. FROM THE SAME TIRE! I get that we cannot expect actual mechanics working at a drive through oil place, but at least have competent individuals that don't look like their lunch hour was spent swinging from trees while picking fleas off eachother! Anyway, let's keep this circus going by telling us not to worry, we are sending you to our mechanic down the road called "R" CAR. Go see Juan she said. He knows your coming, and we are covering it entirely. Well one thing this Sharlee girl knows how to do is LIE. She is a master at that. This guy Juan had no idea we were coming, nor any intentions on not charging us. Which essentially was probably for the better since he had several people waiting to deal with him over cars that he messed up. Don't believe me? Go check out the reviews on yelp for R CAR in Redlands. You're welcome. Fast forward ANOTHER HOUR later. We ended up taking our car to American Tire Depot down the road. I'm pretty certain I heard angels and the sky parted! Rich greeted us with welcoming wrenches and said oh yea I've seen this before. A few hundred dollars and an hour and a half later we were on our way up the mountain. Safely. I called to speak with customer care at Valvoline and got nowhere. So I'm moving on to The Better Business Bureau and small claims, oh and maybe a Tik Tok video I can attempt to go viral. At this point I don't even care. But feel they should pay the $400 out of pocket that we did not plan on when deciding to go to Valvoline for an oil change!
