One of the good things happening now is that the old school food from my childhood are coming back! Tom Sawyer's fried chicken was located in Greenhills. This was my family's go-to Fried Chicken (yep, not Jollibee! *gasp*). It has been almost 2 decades and the chicken tastes the same but with so many improvements. By improvements, I mean crispier skin, tastier gravy and bigger servings!
Now, this is what Carlo and I order to have the most perfect (and affordable!) meal at Tom Sawyer's: 2 pieces platter, extra rice, extra gravy, corn bread, coleslaw and a basket of chicken necks! You will have to wait for about 10-15 agonizing minutes because they always serve their chicken fresh from the fryer! Don't worry, the chicken is worth the wait. Crispy, juicy and sooo tasty...it will blow your mind! I've brought a few friends here and we end up not talking. We just focus on eating every bit of meat. Also, the gravy, which is creamy and buttery, tastes almost like Pancake House's gravy. I like Tom Sawyer's gravy more. By the way, you HAVE TO order the Chicken necks! I know it sounds freaky but, if you love munching on chicken skin, this is the dish for you. Plus, it's only Php100 for 5 pieces! Sulit! :D read more
