Each online auction lot is well photographed and described, including pointing out any damage or other defect. Their buyer premium is reasonably priced. Pickup of items won is very easy since they have lots of open hours and don't require pickup appointments. All the staff I have met at Tom Hall are friendly and professional. I was searching for a painting for many years my grandmother sold in 1962. I was contacted on Craig's List this past November and was told by several people that they located the painting at Tom Hall Auctions! Each person that contacted me told me that Tom Hall Auctions is a great auction and they follow them. I was told the people there are honest and very nice. On November 20th I was able to bid online and win the painting! It was the first time I ever bought anything at an online auction. The process was very easy. I now follow them myself! Let me also say that when I went to pick up the painting I was met by several of the nicest people I ever met! They really took their time with me and the one employee listened to my long story of my search with much interest. He was the one who helped me carry it to my friend's truck. I was worried he would get in trouble for talking with me too long. It made me feel good that they treated him so nice also and did not try to rush him away. Catherine was GREAT! (Not to mention very pretty!) I think she was either an owner or an operator of the business. She made me feel good when she said how beautiful she thought the painting was. I ran across Tom Hall via Live Auctioneer (I believe) and Im thrilled that I did. I purchased a number of pieces and was pleased not only with the winning bid but the reasonable buyers premium (13% vs up to 29% with other auction houses). The icing on the cake however was the shipping-again reasonably priced and packed so well they survived the long trip from PA to CA without any damage!!! I have nothing but praise for the team at Tom Hall Auctions. We sold our home and professional gym to relocate to Fl. Given our timeframe, the liquidation had to happen quickly. THA team did just that. In a matter of 3-4 weeks the on-line auction was advertised and items sold. Now, we had beautiful pieces of furniture that were very high priced. But I got 25 good years of enjoying them. My expectations were realistic and I did not anticipate them yielding alot of $$. You cannot blame THA for the amount they get for items; some items sell high and other low. Enjoy the fact that THA does ALL the work; yes their commission is higher than others, but they do an awesome job, advertising. documenting and getting you a check. They are worse than selling your things at a garage sale. Yikes!The prices you get for your items is so terrible. It made me sick to see how little our expensive items sold for. They call themselves high end auctioneers. No way! On their site they have 3 ways a person can sell things. No minimum bid,. Set a minimum bid, or have people bid and you can reject the offer at the end. I wanted to set a minimum bid and was told I could not do this , but we proceeded anyway. What a mistake. Plus I found that their fee is much higher(15% higher) than other auctioners. We had several pieces of Baker tables we paid $1,000 for and they sold for $15! We had a duckloe chair handmade,wood and leather we bought for close to $2,000 and it sold for $30. Two signed lithographs appraised at $260 a piece sold for $15 for the both! I gave them a large bin of unused toys that had about $500 worth of toys, they sold for $5.00 . I should have donated the items to Habitat or another charity. If you knew quality furniture and items, this would not happen. Either sell your items yourself,at a flea market or if you have antiques or expensive items you want to sell, then look around for someone who knows what they are doing. If you are looking to buy then you have hit a gold mine because you can get great quality items for dirt cheap. I am sure the items that were sold were bought by people who will sell them for a higher price. DO NOT USE! read more

We consigned antiques to be sold. They were sold at a yard sale / household type auction and not advertised. They should have been in a good antique sale. The prices realized were awful as a result hurt us and ,of course, Tom Hall auction I thought these people knew antiques and their value. Future consignors beware! read more
