Called Drexler plumbing because I had a leaking toilet in my basement, was a little bit skeptical because they are so expensive and I just had them recently to add a water line. They called and showed up within like 30 minutes and were very upfront on all the possible costs depending on what could be wrong, explained a membership plan that sounded pretty reasonable so I went with them. PLEASE READ THIS UPDATE, I may remove the review completely but perhaps reading my updated circumstance will help you in your selection to use Tom Drexler. (I tried to access the update function on Yelp but it was being finicky.) Since I posted the original review I have been i contact with the company. (You can see the original review unless I decide to dump it completely, but thought it may be fair to see how things started and how things have turned out.) You will see that I never mentioned the name of the service employee, nor did I give out my own name--just initials. And with ONLY my initials The CUSTOMER SERVICE Contact looked me up and contacted me to follow up on the situation. I was a bit surprised and initially not especially hopeful. And so we talked. We talked for a good while about all the events, issues and circumstances and came to what was a favorable agreement between myself and Tom Drexler Heating & A/C. The appointment was set, the service tech arrived and the resolution took perhaps 3- 3.5 hours. And my goodness may have been just in the nick of time because I had warmth that night and when the next day turned to record breaking heat I had a/c the functions and kept me able to breath...even with the allergies and asthma. Currently I am Very Relieved regarding the solution/outcome. If they will take the effort to seek out a customer that has had an issue and make attempts to "make it right", then I think they can be counted on to be reasonable and helpful. So...from a "one star" to a FIVE STAR I can recommend giving Tom Drexler your business. Finally get them out and the tell me all the coolant leaked out from a lose nut and I needed more coolant and it would be a waste because the compressor was shot and that would be Thousands more now and only certainty was a $15K replacement of the whole unit!!! FROM A LOSE NUT? That they didn't tighten or check? REALLY WTF And only "saved" money because I accepted them snatching $16.50 from my bank every month. PLUS...every few weeks they'd be trying to upsell me other services. I am a widow on SS and had to get a loan to replace the compressor that I'll be paying on for several years. I'm fed up and with people doing this to seniors...or anyone. My husband was an auto tech and he was probably the only honest one in a hundred miles. Do not use this company! They did a big job for me and it was going to save me a lot of money to sign up for their service plan so I did but I've tried to use them twice since then to get my HVAC serviced and the first time they didn't show up and I was told my next appointment would be guaranteed. I scheduled amother morning appointment and it's 2:15 now and they still haven't shown up. They have the worst customer service EVER!!! read more

We had a problem with kitchen sink. The tech came around 4. He snaked the drain, but still was draining very slowly. He thought it might be a vent issue, but would come again first thing the next day with a camera to take a look. He came back with another person. No camera. Just a quote that didn't explain the scope of work, just a price for $3,200. They verbally said it was to put in new pipes, but without a guarantee it would solve the issue. My husband purchased a camera off Amazon and we discovered a massive blockage. After clearing it ourselves, the sink has been draining the way it should. The tech talked us into a plan but gave us incorrect info about it. Once the year contract is finished I'm cancelling it. And under no circumstance will I call to have them check my HVAC system, pipes, or electrical. I would not recommend them. read more

Paid over $700 to repair two outside faucets that only dripped when turned on and repair/tighten the kitchen sink drain. It took over 4 hours to do these little jobs. The next month both outside faucets were still dripping so they sent another tech out to re-repair them. All he did was put a second washer over the first one. Did NOT fix the problem. Called back and was informed that they did the best they could and it would be another charge to come out again. The kitchen sink literally falls apart when the dishwasher drains or you pour a large amount of water down the sink and floods underneath. Will not come out without another payment because it is past the warranty. Twice a year I have my outside drain snaked because of tree roots blocking it, preventive. Old Tom has a Tv commercial and on their website $99 drain cleaning/snaking. I made an appointment and the techs (2) showed up. Tried to upsell me on a "new" water pressure snaking/cleaning for only $1700.00. Of course I laughed at them as I have been watching an Australian plumber using this system for years now. After they snaked the 17' outside access drain the price was $150 dollars since it was a repeat service??? I found out from two independent area plumbers that their techs get paid by commission and upselling items/services. I recommend that this company be avoided at all cost. read more

I had a sewers back-up issue; at one of our properties, two techs came out to one of our rentals and try to clear the main drain line. the cable got stuck, the tech stopped working to clear the line and stop trying to get the sucked cable out. they left the cable in my main sewer line packed up and got ready to leave, I ask about them getting the cable out, the tech told I would have to pay them $7000. to dig it out what a rip off I will not recommended Tom Drexler to anyone I know, and I will never use this company again, the $99. to unblock a drain. I am so dissatisfied with them they stuck the heat in there they didn't seal it they didn't even put connection in one room so disappointed dust cumulated in my house bad I trusted Dexter to be fair and do good work instead they did a horrible work on my heat maybe my air conditioner wouldn't know until I have someone else to come out and see but me having pictures showing the poor job they have done now I have to take him to court and it's so sad I really trusted them for quality work read more

This all started in April, 2025. I had a membership with Tom Drexler and when my HVAC quit working I contacted Tom Drexler and someone was at my door shortly (they do respond quickly). * 1st Visit from Tom Drexler: The HVAC fellow (don't remember his name) checked things out, discovered the breaker was flipped off, flipped it back on and the HVAC started cooling again. He explained that if the breaker trips again, then I would need to call Tom Drexler back and request an electrician come to the house. He leaves and everything is all good, right? House is cooling. Breaker trips again so I call and report it to Tom Drexler's office as instructed by the HVAC fellow. * 2nd Visit from Tom Drexler: Electrician comes to the house this time (very timely I might add), replaces the breaker in the panel, and I pay 287+. Air is back on again. Lo and behold the breaker trips AGAIN. For two weeks the breaker would flip on and off randomly. So, I report this once again to Tom Drexler's office. Soon the HVAC fellow (same one) calls and said, "Remember when I told you that if the breaker tripped again you would need to call an electrician? I said sure enough and he's been here, replaced the breaker but it has tripped again. * 3rd Visit from Tom Drexler: HVAC fellow comes back (responded quickly again). He spent time out at the unit, messing with this, messing with that. Apologized to me. Said he was sorry he missed the problem with the compressor the first time he came. He was very apologetic, and I was HIGHLY impressed with his humility and his ability to take responsibility. He went on to say he would see to it that I got a refund for the new Breaker since I did not need one. He explained after he completed his inspection, and I am paraphrasing, but "the compressor is going out. Said he'd turn off the compressor, then turn it back on, and every time he got different readings on the AMP draw on start-up. He was very kind and spent time explaining everything which I appreciated. He went on to say, and I am paraphrasing again, "The way the compressor is right now, it's going to limp along until one day, it's simply not going to come back on. You can replace the compressor but it's expensive to replace and given the age of your current HVAC you are gambling as to whether any of the other parts of the HVAC quit working so you could be nickel and dimed to death. Would you like for me to send someone over to give you some prices for a new HVAC?" I said sure. * 4th Visit from Tom Drexler: A salesman comes timely as well and proceeds to show me 3 different prices for a new HVAC. The prices were valued at 1/7th of the value of my entire home. So yeah, I needed to think about it. I asked him about the refund I was owed and he said, verbatim "we'll get that back to you." As a prudent money manager, I called two other companies and requested estimates. I also called Tom Drexler about a week after the salesman was here and asked about my refund as I had not received it. The person on the phone put me on hold, came back and said she spoke with the salesman and he said they would deduct the amount from the cost of the new HVAC. If I did not purchase a $23,000 HVAC from Tom Drexler, then they intended to keep the 287+. $23,000 is a very expensive ransom for 287.00 One of the fellows from another HVAC company that came to do the estimate was uncomfortable giving me an estimate on a new HVAC that was "tripping breakers every couple days". He politely asked if he could check out the HVAC himself. He found I had a bad Sump Pump Heater or in some circles it's called a "Crank Case Heater". My HVAC has been working flawlessly with no issues whatsoever since May 12, when he found the problem. The part cost 170.00. Here it is December, 2025 and my heat is working flawlessly and it did not cost me 23,000 + 287 (amt they failed to refund meI). Don't get me wrong, I used to be a big Tom Drexler Fan but I had to let them go. They do great on jobs YOU initiate, it's on the repair side, you get ripped off. Their repairmen lack the knowledge to properly diagnose problems and/or they have been coaxed to guide the consumer toward buying new equipment because it has become clear that SELLING new equipment vs. accurately diagnosing/fixing problems is a clear priority to this company. After much observation, I find this company preys on widows, the elderly, single women, and the young and naive. Bet if I was a fly on the wall at their sales meetings, I would hear these types are their targeted populations. Find someone else to help you with your home maintenance, Drexler will do nothing but rip you off. read more

So I said that I would leave an update. We were lucky enough to find someone who actually did brick repair, and he did a great job without having to take anything down. Things happen, right? What upset me was that the people from Drexler didn't tell me what happened. They came back into the house and told me that the job was done. Never did they say, "You have a hole in your wall, and we split some bricks." They just said the job was done. My partner happened to walk outside and noticed the damage, and when it was brought to their attention, one of the guys picked up 1/2 the brick that was left on the ground and glued it back to the brick that was on the wall. I don't know who wouldn't be upset unless you just don't care what your property looks like, whether inside or outside. So after this, along with what happened with the doorbell, it's hard for me to trust them to do anything else to my house. There's other things that happened that I didn't care for, but no damage was done, so I am not going to waste my time bringing it up. I personally am not going to deal with them again. For the work that was done on the roof, I had a roofer come out and inspect it. Because after what happened with the bricks, I lost trust. And we just had a new roof installed and didn't want any problems. Roofer stated that the way it was done would only last a couple of years before it would start to leak. The roofer was nice enough to install a collar and sealed real good for free. I sent that information over to Drexler as well just to make them aware. Look at reviews. Over 200 with only 2 stars. I should of payed more attention. Good side: Drexler did work with us. They paid the individual that repaired the bricks, and the techs they sent out to the house were able to get the doorbells working again after the installation of the new breaker box. F Minus!! They were supposed to put in a washer and dryer Hookup in one of the rooms in the upstairs part of my Fathers house. . I have a Finished Walk Out Basement. They cut the drywall aka sheet rock in the ceiling and never put it back together..... What ever they spilled all over the floor they never cleaned it up. They Broke the Shade on one of my Floor Lamps. Im not happy one bit with them. The water lines are a JOKE. They hooked the Water lines directly on to the water heater . It looks like it was done by a bunch of amateur rodeo clowns! If you look at the photos in the Ceiling part you should see the holes they cut in the dry wall panels. they should have put those back up. it would not have been that difficult for professionals to put it back together instead of leaving everything exposed. If you look at the photos of the BLUE and RED Pipes you'll see how they are attached to the water heater pipes. Im not a Plumber, I could have ran the water line and put a T in the hot water and a T in the cold water lines near where the Washer in the basement was. Completely Unprofessional! Keep in Mind my Father is 81 years old. Its utterly disgusting to take advantage of a Senior citizen and to a half @% job at something esp someone who is 81 years old! My landlord used to love this business for reasons I simply can't fathom. If they come out to clean your HVAC system, they'll find something that absolutely needs to be repaired and upcharge for it. They're only saving grace up until recently was they'd show up at a decent hour and fix what was needed. If you must use Drexler, for God's sake DO NOT SCHEDULE ON FRIDAY! I called three times before they finally sent a tech who was probably low man on the totem pole. He showed up at 7:00 pm, looked at the faucet to be fixed, and said (BIG SUPRISE) that everyone had already left for the weekend and he couldn't even order the part. In fact, he wasn't sure which part he needed and couldn't ask the parts department because they were gone for the weekend. I waited for them ALL DAMN DAY SINCE 8:00 AM. He also said, apologetically, that he would send an email to their parts department so they could give an accurate quote that MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT be given Weds at the earliest IF AT ALL. GET THAT? HE COULD NOT EVEN GUARANTEE DREXLER'S PARTS DEPARTMENT WOULD EVEN GET HIS EMAIL! They could sure as hell schedule a followup next Friday, though! I finally convinced my landlord to give someone else a go at this, Thank God. You're a fool if you deal with these greedy incompetent morons. In my time as a life-long Louisville resident, I've only encountered a few truly vile and crooked companies. Tom Drexler Plumbing, Air, & Electric is one of them. No doubt you've seen Tom Drexler's box trucks prowling around your neighborhood: the backs of them are outfitted with a life-sized photograph of the owner, who appears to be standing and waving "hello" to you from the rear of the vehicle. These unsettling depictions of poor Mr. Drexler are not quite to scale, so that he looks rather like an oompa loompa being smuggled out of the Wonka Chocolate Factory. Or perhaps it is more accurate to imagine him snidely waving "Later, suckers!" as his minion-driver races away with another truckload of money he's swindled from a geriatric victim. Tom Drexler strategically advertises inexpensive HVAC inspections. Be forewarned: this is merely a ploy to get their foot in the door so that they can fabricate expensive repairs and fear-monger money out of your bank account. Such was the tactic they uncoiled against my 71 year-old father. My old man enlisted Tom Drexler for a routine HVAC inspection. Gravely, the inspector reported back that my father's furnace had a cracked heat exchanger and that fatal levels of CO were billowing into the residence! "I'm required by law to shut off your gas," he explained. And so it was that in the bitter cold of January, Tom Drexler cut the heat to my father's home and tried to pressure him into signing a $3628.70 repair estimate. My dad is a very trusting soul, but even he used words like "uneasy" and "suspicious" when describing his encounter with this inspector. He wisely thought to seek a second opinion. The following day, a representative from Bryant Heating and Cooling rapped on the door. Five minutes removed, he was rolling his eyes. "Tom Drexler flat out lied to you," he said. "Your heat exchanger is fully intact and your CO levels are actually lower than expected." According to him, one of the dirtiest tricks in the HVAC industry is to tell an unsuspecting homeowner that they have a cracked heat exchanger. "You can easily fake a high CO reading by doing this," he explained, and blew into one end of the sensor. Carbon Monoxide isn't something to mess with, so we brought in a third company to weigh in on the two dissenting opinions. Their technician quickly corroborated everything Bryant had said. I asked this man point blank, "Is it possible that Tom Drexler made an honest error and simply misdiagnosed the crack and the CO leak." "Absolutely not," he laughed. "That would be like you telling a blind person that the sky is red." I was appalled that Tom Drexler deliberately tried to scam my septuagenarian father out of $3628.70. Still, I refrained from passing judgement on the entire company: perhaps, unbeknownst to Tom Drexler, this crooked inspector was trying to pad his commission checks by scamming clients. I decided to blow the whistle and I called the Drexler office. I did not mince words, but I was eloquent and polite in relaying our ordeal to the receptionist. I was struck by the fact that she offered not even a glimmer of surprise or an apologetic tone. I had a distinct feeling that I was not the only person phoning in with such concerns. She gnawed on her gum like a jaded camel and flatly offered to leave the manager a note. Now, if I ran an HVAC company and a concerned customer called in with serious allegations against one of my underlings, I'd drop everything and prioritize returning that call. Manager Mike Wells does not share this philosophy - it took him more than a week to respond at all. He left me a voicemail... and then ignored my subsequent calls to his cell phone. The Drexler office then refused to put me into contact with "someone more responsive." We can deduce that the rampant chicanery at Tom Drexler Plumbing, Air, & Electric functions from the top down. An honest company would have been appalled at my feedback and would have thoroughly investigated. They'd be anxious to extinguish any ember of charlatanism amid their ranks. Tom Drexler's disinterest is a damning piece of evidence evincing their tacit approval. Surely, Drexler inspectors are coached to "find" problems in the name of maximizing profits. I originally hoped that Tom Drexler might atone for their fact that they tried to defraud our family out of thousands of dollars. My father put it best, though: "Tom Drexler has been so unprofessional and unresponsive that even if they tried to placate me with free services, I wouldn't trust them to set foot in my house." And now, I hope my review will endure as a warning and save others from falling prey to Tom Drexler's endemic dishonesty. We had Tom Drexler put in a new sewage line for us. It had cost us $15,000.00. When laying the line in our front yard it had a large hump in the yard. We were told by their representative that it would eventually go down. We discovered a hole in the yard against the house where the pipe was extended into yard. After several months, the later hump in the yard hadn't gone down any. We contacted Tom Drexler concerning this and after a couple of weeks they came and leveled the large hump in the yard and filled the smaller hole against the house. Now the area where they leveled the large hump in the yard has sunken in and the smaller hole has sunken in as well. We called Tom Drexler and were told that we would have to contact a landscaper at our cost. We feel that they should resolve this issue. read more

He was unable to fix it, broke a back flow flap but did not tell us. Three days later sewage backed up into my basement. Two guys came back. looked around and decided they would need to tear up the whole front yard and with a generous discount would cost me over $8,000. I needed my air conditioning fixed. I called Tom Drexler and they would came out the next day to fix the unit. It had a clogged drain line and I needed a capacitor replaced outside . They charged me $750 to fix the unit . It worked for 2 hours and shut down . I called him the next morning and they came back out see what was going on . The technician told me that the fan motor was going bad and that it needed to be replaced for $1,400. But suggested a new unit due to how old this air conditioning unit was . I told him not to fix the unit and he left and had a Salesman contact me to come out and give me an estimate . Which was around $15,000 . I called another company to come out and give me a second opinion and another estimate . He looked at the unit for 5 minutes and had it running within 10 . He charged me for a service call, and within an hour the house was completely cooled down . He also told me that he would have fixed the unit the prior day for less than $200 instead of the 750 . A year and a half ago we had to have Tom Drexler replace our sewer pipe in the front yard, so we called them again when we had a clogged pipe. This time has been a literal disaster! For starters, I didn't know that the "camera tech" was a sales guy. Jerry the "camera tech" came in, showed us the clog and said that our sewer pipe was completely rotted through at the bottom and made us believe this was the only option and needed to be replaced ASAP. My first mistake was not getting another quote (I understand that's on me), but I trusted them since they had done work here before. He started at $13k. I said I am absolutely not paying that, call your guy and get the bottom line price. They came back with $10k. I mean, better than 13 I suppose and it supposedly needed to be done so I agreed. After digging up my front landscaping (which we had just got back together from the last time the front yard was dug up) and jackhammering the basement floor....THE PIPE WAS INTACT!!! I was LIVID. All of this damage and money for something that did not NEED to be done. After much discussion, we got them down to half of their original price! $13k is absolute robbery if they can do it for half!! Which is what happened the first time. They started at $12k and ended up charging us $6k. I feel horrible for the people that paid the original quoted price! Now, come to find out, our floor can NOT be fixed so I am going to have to buy ALL NEW FLOORING and spend thousands of more dollars on a floor that was perfectly fine for work that did not need to be done. read more

Would not recommend. We are senior customers, and the aggressive sales leader had my husband signing a finical loan and work contract before I could get home from the grocery. This was a very big project including digging up the front yard and basement floor. There was a promise made to clean up basement and repair front yard at end of project, but was never completed. The same lead sales person would never respond to my husband calls even months after project finished. After the lawn repair team finally arrived 5 months later they did not grade off the yard but just threw down some grass seed. I finally had to pay a lawn service to try and repair the damage. I would recommend getting different est. and compare prices. read more

I am posting on behalf of my parents who are both Senior lifetime Louisville residents. They had a flooded basement back in January when we had all the rain. They reside in Germantown 40217. They had originally started with Tony's and wound up with Tom Drexler because he is one of the few Plumbing companies who will accept MSD payment for inside issues and old plumbing. Long story short $14k later ( oh free financing through their partners). Yard was demolished tore up, street was gutted a/c unit moved and put back unbalanced. The best part of it all is that when we have rain (his luck we went into a semi-drought ) my parents call and get ran through the mill on their shoddy work. Apparently somewhere something didn't work but my parents credit score to secure financing. Run fast-get a 2nd opinion- no accountability for what they left behind. Check them out on here and on Reddit before you call them. I am going to get the word out about this company who instead of taking care of their customers they burned would rather spend their money on advertising and mailers. This is the result of a sewage pipe repair under our driveway. Drexler's manager said "You'll never know we were here." This has been falling apart ever since because they used the cheapest materials possible. Pebble debris never leaves the driveway and the patch work has been an absolute eyesore. The grassy area on the other side of the yard has sunk at least 7 inches. Hard to display the grass in a photo but trust me it's huge. read more

I felt ripped off by them. They first sent a maintenance man ($1000) who's work had to be ripped out the next day for two more grand, by a plumber. The plumber or their assistant then stole a wood carving from me. It was a collapsed drain line. Before that I paid over 5 grand for my heat/ac unit and the salesman lied about the follow-up service I didn't get. read more

I had an electrical outlet that wasn't working. Technician came out and could't find the problem, yet I was charged their exorbitant fee for just coming to the house! That left me with my own extension cord running from the living room to the dining area so I could watch Tv until the other tech came out. Onward,,, tech came out, stated the problem and gave an estimate 4 times greater than any other company. If you think you are not paying for their ads and TV spots, think again! P.S. I had someone else do it and was still out $$$ from the service call charge. read more

Three pm still hadn't come and when we called they said it would probably be 5 to 5:30 pm before they could be here. we had dinner plans and had to leave. Not impressed read more

Bryan Stephens came out to do yearly checks and maintenance on our furnace and air conditioning. He took his time to identify the problem with our air conditioner and what was the correct fix for it. We recently turned on our AC for the first time since October, expecting cool air to help control the hot/humid that is the Louisville area. Alas, all the moving parts worked but The Cold. Fans and blowers fanned and blew, belts turned, motors whirred, and air moved...but it was the same muggy air that we were trying to get rid of. It was JUST working in October, but all it was now was a friendly blast furnace of UHNG. Having lived in our house for just under a year, we were thinking "What!?!? We've only been here a year!" #TheJoysOfHomeOwnership The first thing we did was to call a Plumbing/AC vendor to come and take a look and he told us that it was low on refrigerant (which I really didn't need to pay him $69 to confirm, but whatever) and the cost to refill would be A LOT (over $800), or even more to fix it. To be honest, I wasn't extremely comfortable taking his word at the costs he quoted and I didn't have the best confidence in this vendor. The next step was Tom Drexler. Michael came out on a Tuesday to size up the situation with our AC and to give us a quote. We could tell right away that Michael had the knowledge and experience to head us down the right path. After checking the AC compressor and our furnace...and just about everything else...he sat down we went over some stuff. We already knew what the answer was going to be, but we had braced ourselves for it. Since the furnace and AC were installed when the house was built in '94, both had basically outlived their intended lifespan. Yes, we could spend a lot of money fixing one thing, but then a bit further down the line something else was going to break. Based on the age of our system, the best best would be a full replacement. Long story short (I know it's too long for that), we went with the full system replacement. We signed the papers on Tuesday. On Friday they installed the new system. On THAT Friday! Chris and Anthony (?) arrived right when they said they would and went to work sizing up the job and removing the old furnace and compressor. About an hour later another guy shows up with the new units. A little while later the installation manager showed up to see how things were going. By 3:30 they were driving away and my house was getting cool again. These guys were GREAT. Very professional and very efficient. Chris and Anthony worked great together as a team, didn't waste time, and managed to complete in about 6 hours what I envisioned them taking two days to do. I can't say enough good about everyone I dealt with at Tom Drexler. GREAT job, guys! read more
