i called lane roofing initially to get an estimate on a property that an elderly friend owns. i…read moreleft voice mail for josh... i also had a concern about a lane roof project going on next door to the property that i am currently renting. my landlord advised me to investigate and resolve the matter. josh was belligerent to me and quite hostile on the phone when i asked why he did not give us notice about the upcoming roof work. please see my complaint below to the massachusetts contractors board. you will see why we would never hire this man or his company. josh lane and his workers commenced ( park ave haverhill,mass ) a new roof project next door to our apartment complex on 25 april at 7:00 am. the haverhill building employee told me that lane roofing did not apply for a permit with the city of haverhill for this project. the crew threw nails, shingles and lots of construction debris down onto our private driveway and on our parked cars. this resulted in a nail in my front tire. one of the lane employees drove a large and loud motorized dumpster into our private driveway without even asking permission.both of our vehicles were in the small narrow driveway at this time. the dumpster truck/ vehicle was very loud and the dumpster leaked oil stains all over park avenue and in the middle of our driveway. i called josh that day... he was belligerent and he in turn called the haverhill police dept making false claims that i caused workplace harassment! dan, the haverhill building inspector cited and fined lane roofing for this egregious behavior. there was no staging on the project also and no tarps or drapes to mitigate the mess to neighboring properties. i saw approx 5 men on that roof which is very old and probably unsafe... none had harnesses on and there was no staging. this contractor is reckless... he seemingly does not care about the safety and property of residents like me who live in buildings near where he does his jobs. my neighbor and i were not informed early ...before the job started to move our cars and to ask permission to enter our private property..... we would have helped if only we were included in the pre planning stages. i personally feel that this contractor is unprofessional... a bully and someone who does not care about his employees or the safety of residents in massachusetts. dan the haverhill building inspector took photos as well... . bottom line..... every contractor needs to have a permit before they start a job... if a job borders on and or involves a neighboring property... then permission must be obtained in order to access that property. these are basic principles that every seasoned contractor/professional knows. josh lane showed malfeasance by filing a bogus police report against me when it was him who was clearly in the wrong. this contractor should lose his license to work in massachusetts. he has sullied his reputation with the Haverhill PD and the building inspectors too... not a good strategy Josh! I call on ALL of my disabled veteran friends to choose a different company if you need roof work! Please heed this disabled vets warning.

I was able to get a few things back, mostly clothes, which were soaking wet and covered in ash and soot. If you've ever smelled one, you know how distinct the smell of a house fire is, and it's so hard to get the smell out, so it seemed like a nearly impossible task to get the smell out of my car after wet, soot covered clothes were laying on my fabric seats. I have to wait until the warmer weather breaks to repair it properly but in the meantime , this amazing man, climbed a ladder and broke the ice damm with a hammer/shovel in order to allow proper drainage off of the roof thus preventing future water damage in my home while I wait for warmer weather to arrive and repair it correctly . The men and women of DeFrancesco roofing are fantastic and have my utmost trust and continued loyalty for helping this broken down shell of a man. I hired Mark prior to putting my house on the market. What a mistake! First, he didn't even TRY to…read moreremove any stains. The carpets looked great when wet, which he pointed out, but once they dried, which took a couple of days, even with ceiling fans, AC or windows open, they looked exactly the same as before he "cleaned" them. Second, he dragged his hand down my freshly painted walls as he lumbered down my stairs, leaving marks all the way down the stairwell. Thanks for that! Third, GET A CONTRACT!! He quoted for 5 rooms ($50 each)and and 2 stairways ($75 each), totaling $400. He applied an Angie's List coupon because my realtor suggested him, resulting in $40 per room and $60 per staircase. He missed a staircase, tried playing dumb about it and we agreed on a $60 refund. 3 weeks later, no check. I texted him, he apologized and the check came a few days later, with my name misspelled, for only $40. I contacted him again but he's ignored me. My credit union, having treated me wonderfully for 30 years, eventually accepted the check after I explained the situation. Do yourself a favor and KEEP LOOKING for a more honest, reputable company.

After having to find other cleaners to help salvage the mess, I found out Mark was horribly overpriced. When you try to talk to Mark about issues, be becomes very insulting. He brought up politics out of nowhere and was quite vulgar. In hindsight, I regret having someone I would later realize was so unstable into my home at all.
