My bestie and I decided we needed a spa day (especially facials) and we were on the hunt for some…read moreplace local. It's been years since I had been to Balance Day Spa, but I remembered they offered discounted seasonal special facials on weekdays. They still do! In addition to the facial, I booked a pedicure while my friend got a massage. The other thing I learned from a friend about Balance Day Spa is they now have a sauna/steam room that you can go enjoy for an hour before or after your appointments. I highly recommend taking advantage of these amenities if you have appointments. It really kicked up the value and relaxation. This area was deluxe. You are given a locker to put your belongings as well as a robe and slippers. They have bathrooms and changing areas. The steam room and saunas could benefit from operation instructions, but once we figured it out - boy it felt great. There is also an additional private sitting room with comfy recliners and a faux fireplace. Really gets you in the right head space before appointments. I started with my Classic Pedicure. My technician was nice but pretty quiet. After soaking in the basin, my nail's were trimmed and shaped, followed by cuticle care and callus removal. Followed by a solid foot and leg massage. She wrapped my feet in warm towels which felt great. Then she carefully added the purple polish I selected. It was a really pretty color. They had lots of color options - regular and shellac. Their nail room was on the smaller side, but could accommodate two people at once. You are seated in the traditional upright massage chair you get at most nail salons. But the room is at the front of the building so it gets a lot for street noise. The bright fluorescent lights are on full blast. There are these big front windows and they have no curtains. You feel a bit exposed (especially if you are in your robe) to be honest. Sadly, the relaxing and calming ambiance is currently very lost in this space. I only had a few minutes under the toe dryer before I was called for my facial. I would have preferred to do toes second so I didn't have to worry about potentially smudging them, but that wasn't how it was scheduled. Just had to leave my feet outside of the sheets and keep the toe separators in. The facial room was much more inviting. Nice blue tones and dim lighting. As part of my seasonal facial, I got to pick between two scrub scents. I went for the Harvest Apple variety that smelled amazing. We started with a consultation followed by the usual cleansing, steam, exfoliation, extractions, mask, serums, and moisturizer. The facial was overall very relaxing and my skin felt so much better afterward. The extractions were a bit painful compared to what I am used to. I was legit tearing up. I think she noticed this but didn't say anything and just cut this part short. The esthetician also did a little lip balm type treatment. A nice extra I don't think I've ever had during a facial. But hey lips need love too so I'm down. After she gently recommended a product to help with my dry skin. Checkout was a bit of a mess. My appointments got merged with my friends (as she booked for us both) and the receptionist struggled to separate. Seems they use an outside service for scheduling and it caused some problems. The system wouldn't allow us to pay for both of ours services on one transaction. So had to do multiple. This made checkout take longer than it should and was frustrating. Quick jolt back to reality, when I wanted to stay in my spa la la land! All in all a lot of positives here if you want a some treatments, but a few opportunities for improvement as well.

We used to go all the way to Advance to be pampered by the best in the biz, but since her retirement, we've been looking for something a little closer to home. That's where Balance Day Spa hit the scene. They were particularly enticing due to their late hours during the week. After perusing their website, I called to schedule two services for my bestie and me as a belated birthday celebration. A pedicure and a facial for her, and a facial and a massage for me! My bestie and I arrived about 40 minutes prior to the scheduled start of our services. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of the amenities, and we were eager to begin enjoying them. Balance Day Spa really brings it when it comes to providing everything you could need. They have lockers for your personal belongings, robes, and sandals in case you didn't bring your own. I appreciated that they use regular keys for their lockers rather than combination locks, which stresses me out. After we changed into our robes, we hit the steam room first. There were no formal instructions on how to use either the steam room or the sauna, but we eventually figured it out. We enjoyed about 15 minutes in both the steam room and the sauna. Then we drank some water and ate some mixed nuts as we waited to be called back for our services. They also offered complimentary coffee and tea. My first service was a facial with Jessica. Before we started, she asked questions about my typical skin-care routine and when I last had a facial. She also asked if I was okay with her performing extractions if needed, and I said yes. Before she started, I had to choose between a harvest apple or an amber scent for my service. I opted for the amber option. The facial was very relaxing with all the typical components of cleansing, exfoliating, applying a face mask, massaging, moisturizing, and applying a lip moisturizer at the end. The extraction process was particularly painful to the point of bringing me to tears. I think a mid-extraction check-in would have been nice, so I could have asked for a brief respite as she wiped away my tears. Alas, beauty is pain, as they say. At the end of the service, she recommended a product she thought could help reduce the redness on my face. She let me take a picture of it, and I appreciated that she wasn't particularly pushy about it. I began my massage service with Stephanie by completing an intake form to disclose any concerns and talk through any problem areas. Although I thought I had completed this in advance, it was only an intake form for the Esthetic service. Looking back at the ample texts I received before arriving, I only received one text with a link to complete an intake form, which could be why this was missed. I wanted a relaxing massage, and Stephanie utilized low to medium pressure to meet my expectations. A massage never feels long enough, but that's how I know it was a good massage. At the time of booking, I didn't realize that Balance Day Spa utilizes a call center to handle its scheduling. This became abundantly clear when it came time for us to check out at the end of our visit. For whatever reason, the way the call center booked the services caused the woman checking us out to run our cards twice, once for each service. This felt clunky and is a valid reason to bring scheduling in-house if it causes this awkwardness to be the last impression you leave on a customer. All in all, I was satisfied with my experience at Balance Day Spa. It felt very corporate, and I hope that the next stop on our facial tour has a more personal touch.

Most recently based on availability, I have come to see Dana, who has magical hands! Definitely worth the price and I will be back! I also appreciate the health precautions they take. This new flu strain getting everyone is no joke and I like the matters they take to insure people are safe and transmitting will be at a minimal. Pro tip: They put a lengthy disclaimer on their site for directions. Do not be alarmed, they want to make sure you get there but I assure you, just click on the address they give you and the GPS will take you 95% there. When you get to the cul-de-sac, you'll see where to turn and they put a convenient sign showing which side of the building to go to. It's simple! (In the pictures I took I highlighted the signs, they make it easy for you!)

The waiting area offers beautiful plants, books, soft music and comfortable chairs. This allows me to be mindful and centered prior to my treatment. This business offers a safe space in a quiet and inviting environment. I have always experienced a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere during my visits over the years. Bethany (massage therapist) is kind and professional and makes me feel valued as a client. Bethany goes above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. She is always accommodating by adjusting the massage table temperature, providing water upon arrival, raising the headrest on the massage table. The massage rooms have soft lighting, temperature control and soft music. I enjoy having a glass a water in the massage room for after my treatment. I sat with Faith, where she asked me what king of massage , went over the atmosphere I wanted and how it was customizable to me. Safety button etc. very thorough. I sat and waited for my massaged therapist and was offered a weighted hit neck pillow while I waited which was amazing. My appointment was at 10:30 and around 10:25 my therapist came out and checked in to let me know she was running a little behind and would be right with me. Which I appreciated and didn't mind at all. I was paired with Susan. Susan was very welcoming and knowledgeable. She showed me to our room explained everything and stepped out to allow me to change. She told me what areas I should work on stretching and worked all my knots out. I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and will be back. I do wish the quiet option I opted for was honored more. I understand she was trying to make me comfortable and some people talk through their massages but I did not want to talk during my massage. Granted that did only last the beginning 10-15 minutes I'll be more vocal when I go back with what I expect on my one half for my best experience. After, she stepped out for me to change and I had and I was greeted but the wonderful team out front which is always prepared to schedule my next session and I was recommend another therapist to try as well. It has increased since I first got it several. It's gotten expensive and I often question if it's worth it. My check in progress was quick as I had already completed forms online. Danny was my provider and he was very friendly! Since I had a bunch of packages, I was able to use two by getting add ons such as Himalayan salt rocks, aroma therapy, and a foot treatment. When my massage started, the music was too loud. I couldn't even focus on my own thoughts, which I shouldn't be doing anyway lol. I eventually spoke up and Danny promptly turned it turn to a level I was comfortable with. I thoroughly enjoyed my massage. So much so, I didn't want to leave. It was so relaxing and I truly felt better. The aromatherapy was a nice boost. He stated it was lavender but seemed like peppermint or a mix of both. I liked the salt stones. I think a mix of hot and room temperature stones were used but really couldn't tell. My foot treatment was interesting, in a good way! I've gotten it before, so I thought, but it was nothing like this! Maybe the previous person didn't do it correctly. This time, I had hot towels on my feet that stayed there for a little bit and everything. My feet were so soft and moisturized afterwards! My only dislike was lack of talking through what's next. I know everyone doesn't like this, but I think it would be good for the massage therapist to ask clients up front. Some moments caught me off guard and I just wanted a heads up, especially if I could expect some pressure. To note, each time I get a massage, I don't really give guidance behind whether it's a deep tissue, relaxing, or a mix of both. I let them do whatever they see fit, as the professional. I never want to limit them to techniques of another provider as they may have techniques that may be better. This massage was needed and didn't disappoint. I have a bunch of packages, lol. So I will be returning and will likely be for a facial.

You will need to make your appointment online and if you have to cancell there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. Otherwise you will lose what you paid upfront for the appointment. I did arrive early so there was available street parking. I would give yourself time to find parking and walk if needed. Walking in, the space appeared to be clean and welcoming. There is also a juice bar in the front which very much compliments the health and wellness space. For my visit I decided to do the Float tank and not the Float pod. These tanks are filled will approx. 1000 pounds of Epsom salt (give or take) and would be similar to floating in the dead sea. The float tank and pod is completely soundproof and you have the option of complete darkness and quiet or soft dim lighting and gentle music. I found it a bit challenging for myself to be still for 60 minutes, I constantly wanted to change the lighting and volume of music and at one point I cut the lights all the way off and I can admit freaked just a little bit. (Haha). But I floated myself safely back to the light by the door opening, by way of my hands, and was able to open the door and turn the light back on. Whewww. It's just you and your thoughts which makes for a very unique experience that really shows how hard it can be to truly be still. The rooms provide a shower, body soap, shampoo and conditioner. You will want to shower before and after you use the tank. There are also private dressing areas where you can blow dry your hair and get ready if needed. (for float tank users only I do believe) Sonder Mind and body also has a Sauna and different variations of massage therapy to take advantage of. I do wish that their website had some more information. I also would like to see more packages. The only ones I could see were Float and Sauna or Float and massage. There is also an option for a membership which provides a bit of savings but if you want 1 float and 1 sauna a month it's $100. Would I do this again, maybe as a special treat. But to me I would much prefer a facial or massage. I am happy I tried it though! Anywho, I really encourage anyone that has ever wanted to try a float tank to at least try it once! Just treat yourself and go do it Ciao for now.

They also have portable charges, cup holders and everything to make you feel comfortable so you can really really relax. Also, the first time I went there my daughter came with me and she was happy with everything as well. She was in need of a whole charger and one of the techs let them use hers which I thought was very sweet and so not expected but I did appreciate it and so did she! Also, the first day I went in there a woman was sleep so I know she was feeling too good! Now onto my nails, they do pretty good, I think the prices are just about what you will find in other places. The last time before last however I went and I wanted to get a French manicure but the guy said he couldn't do it without the top of my nail showing, but I wasn't using tips so I wasn't sure why that was, also my nail broke that same day but I went back a few days later and they fixed it for nothing! That is why I think this might be my new salon because they took care of me quickly with no issues and everyone in there seems nice, they start up conversation and I don't feel out of place there. There set up is also quite beautiful so I love going in there because of that as well and they have free wifi! One issue that I could see happenings is they have a small parking lot that's shared with other businesses, but I've never had a problem, so it hasn't bothered me. Well that has all changed with Kneaded Energy. I decided this was going to be the year I was gonna focus on self care and stop living with discomfort. This locally and family owned massage therapy business is near my house and had some amazing Black Friday deals including discounted rates for a yearly package of 10 one hour massages. I decided this was time to jump in. Their packages are great and extremely flexible. Your purchase can be put on file and you can redeem as you come for yourself as you wish. You can also give one as the gift of massage for someone else. You can split a massage up like taking one of the 60 minutes and turn into two 30 minute visits, or add with a 60 and make it a 90 minute instead for some extra relaxation. I've done this a few times and now I want a 90 minute yearly package next! I have been seeing Daniel monthly since November and am absolutely feeling an improvement. I have less tightness and knots in my neck and back that I always knew regular massage therapy would help. He is extremely polite and regularly checks in to make sure the pressure is right when working on a tough area ( I am not always the best about speaking up). When he works my back with his whole arm and elbows, it feels great. In addition to focusing on the areas that need the work, he always tries to also provide attention, even if brief, to the full body for some relaxation. It is without fail that when he does the head massage while I'm on my back, that I am falling asleep on that table. My brain is regularly in overdrive so having this monthly massage and allowing myself to just let go and relax and heal is worth every penny and more. The length of service you buy is what you will get, including change time. Their rooms are comfortable, with soft lights and music for ambiance as well as the optional heated bed. They will also add aromatherapy to the head cradle if you'd like, I always go eucalyptus. So, if you have been thinking about trying a new massage place and want to support local businesses like we all should, I highly suggest Kneaded Therapy for yourself or getting a gift certificate for someone you love. You deserve it.
