I have suffered from back and neck pain for most of my life. I get massages here and there, and always enjoy the heck out of them, but have never prioritized regular services. Well that has all changed with Kneaded Energy. I decided this was going to be the year I was gonna focus on self care and stop living with discomfort. This locally and family owned massage therapy business is near my house and had some amazing Black Friday deals including discounted rates for a yearly package of 10 one hour massages. I decided this was time to jump in. Their packages are great and extremely flexible. Your purchase can be put on file and you can redeem as you come for yourself as you wish. You can also give one as the gift of massage for someone else. You can split a massage up like taking one of the 60 minutes and turn into two 30 minute visits, or add with a 60 and make it a 90 minute instead for some extra relaxation. I've done this a few times and now I want a 90 minute yearly package next! I have been seeing Daniel monthly since November and am absolutely feeling an improvement. I have less tightness and knots in my neck and back that I always knew regular massage therapy would help. He is extremely polite and regularly checks in to make sure the pressure is right when working on a tough area ( I am not always the best about speaking up). When he works my back with his whole arm and elbows, it feels great. In addition to focusing on the areas that need the work, he always tries to also provide attention, even if brief, to the full body for some relaxation. It is without fail that when he does the head massage while I'm on my back, that I am falling asleep on that table. My brain is regularly in overdrive so having this monthly massage and allowing myself to just let go and relax and heal is worth every penny and more. The length of service you buy is what you will get, including change time. Their rooms are comfortable, with soft lights and music for ambiance as well as the optional heated bed. They will also add aromatherapy to the head cradle if you'd like, I always go eucalyptus. So, if you have been thinking about trying a new massage place and want to support local businesses like we all should, I highly suggest Kneaded Therapy for yourself or getting a gift certificate for someone you love. My friend treated us to two 90 minute massages. She said her person was good, but after asking my guy 4-5 times in the first hour to please do deep tissue, I gave up. I even asked him after an hour if he was still warming me up, because it felt like the pressure you'd put on a child. I asked him to use his elbows but that didn't happen. Before we started I told him I'm strong, limber and do power yoga every day and was hoping to have deep massage to cover what I can't do in class. It took me years to have the courage to be honest with to a service worker what I want because I hate making people feel like they are failing, so after a few awkward attempts to get what I asked for, I realized he wasn't hearing me or just didn't have the capacity to do deep tissue, so I just laid there and pretended I was meditating instead. I saw a crock put of (untouched) hot rocks when I got dressed. Maybe they could have helped? If I'd paid for that 90 minutes I would have felt shorted, but I didn't so for me it was only just a nice time. The venue is nice and clean and simple, but it's not a spa- you go to your room, get a massage and leave- no chill room to hang out before or after. read more

This was my first time at Kneaded Energy. I was fortunate enough to receive a 90 minute massage as a gift. I called a few weeks in advance to book a therapist to suite my needs; one with strong hands that can do deep tissue. They recommended I see Ian. The place is very easy to get to as it is right off Wendover Ave. It is physically beautiful inside with a very tranquil and zen environment. I love the pan flute music that was playing as it always relaxes me. The staff were all accommodating and professional. I filled out some intake forms indicating areas of my body that I would like special attention paid to; my back and shoulders. I waited briefly in the waiting area until my session was to begin. Ian, my massage therapist, came out and called my name. I readied for my massage and laid on the table under sheet. "Kneading" and massage began on my back working out knots and other tense areas. It felt great you could feel the release. The massage to my feet was my favorite. I had a great experience at Kneaded Energy. Not only are there licensed massage therapists here for your every massage need, but they teach massage as well. It is a massage school too! I've always tried a place several times before giving a review bad review. I've been here many times, hoping for an amazing massage, seems like Ian is the only good Massuse for deep tissue massage, not to mention he's always booked up weeks or months in advance. I've tried several other therapists there but left very disappointed. It's not a fancy spa so don't expect that, The rooms are tiny, there's some background noise (fan? Vent?), u can barely hear the music. It's good for the price, quick in and out if u can get a decent massage and walk out of there Happy. I've given them enough chances. Cold rooms, cold oil, new therapists that was terrible. A warm bath and a glass of wine in my own hot tub at home feels better than some of the therapists I've been unlucky to have there. This is my first review on yelp, I felt like I had to warn other potential and current clients. I get massages often, and I do not recall ever having a bad experience except for this place. I had high hopes because of all the "we only have the best talent" and 'best massage in Greensboro" self-proclamations. If this is the best massage place in Greensboro, I will have to go back to Raleigh to get a decent service and massage. I got to my appointment early and spent about 10 minutes in the waiting room overhearing the staff's conversations. I wasn't trying to listen to them, they were just being loud. To my shock they were discussing clients. I don't know if there is such a thing as a massage ethics but one would assume that discussing clients' physique and condition would be strongly prohibited. ESPECIALLY within an ear shot from actual clients. I couldn't believe it. Another thing I couldn't believe is how weak the massage itself turned out to be. I saw other reviews mentioning that their masseuse barely massaged them - that was the case with me as well. While I didn't expect a deep tissue massage I definitely wanted something stronger than a fearful rubdown. None of the areas I pointed out in the chart were worked on, so what is the point of alerting masseuse about them? This massage was a gift from my husband and I feel awful that he gave his money to this business. I had to lie to him and say that it was great but to everyone else who happens to read this, especially the owners - the experience was a disgrace. No one "kneads" this kind of energy. read more

My massage experience is always top-notch and the therapists are knowledgeable and adept to dealing with each persons needs and physical form. The massages are on the upper range of cost for Greensboro, but I'm on their email list and take advantage of special package offers to get the cost down. I definitely believe in quality over quantity when it comes to massage. They also run a massage school and I believe you can get student/teaching massages for less cost. This was the absolute worst massage I have ever had. The place is nice, the ambience is relaxing, but the massage therapist are there to provide relaxation, not therapy. If you need more than lotion slathered all over you, go somewhere else. If your skin just needs a little moisture and you want to take a nap, this is probably for you. I was not pleased with the very first massage therapist, however the second one was great. I was given a gift card,made an appointment but had to cancel due to sickness, it was less than 24 hours therefore had to pay 25 dollars before they would allow me to reschedule which is understandable. After my service , I went to front desk to present my gift card , they told me there would be a charge of 25 dollars because the gift card was for 60 min and I had a 90 minute massage. I told them I did not ask for that I just wanted to use my gift card. I also let them know that no one ask me anything concerning what service I wanted! In fact they hardly said two words to me. It was a very unfriendly atmosphere. One lady who I believe was the owner looked over and said the therapist would not get paid if I did not pay the up charge ! I felt so bad. Thank God I left her a 20$ tip. I left out but considered the therapist and I went back in and ask them to give the therapist an extra 5$ ! At that point the lady said "I take care of my therapist!!!!!! " even though the therapist did a great job(oh and by the way it was very noisy as I got my massage) I felt horrible !!! I was passing through town and in great need of a 90-minute massage. I'm a flight attendant, so I was only in Greensboro for a small period of time and on short notice. I called several businesses for a same-day-appointment and finally landed on Kneaded Energy. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service I received. Pros: When I called in, I explained I was staying at the Marriott and they offered to pick me up for my appointment. Major points here! I call that southern hospitality and this business delivered. The facility is gorgeous. By the entrance is a zen rock fountain and inside the decor was calming and aesthetically pleasing. The therapist seemed receptive throughout the massage and hit all the spots I had indicated needed attention. I was most pleased with the excellent customer service. From the owner picking me up to the kind front desk personnel, I was overwhelmed by their professionalism and decorum. Cons: Half-way through the massage, I heard two women having a conversation that lasted for several minutes- it was a bit disruptive. Also, after getting picked up and filling out paperwork in the lobby, my massage started about 12 minutes late. Wouldn't have been a big deal, but my appointment technically started at 1 pm and the therapist finished at 2:30 on the dot. I wish he would have honored the 90-minute massage length, but maybe he had to prepare for another appointment. By and by, I would return! Greensboro has treated me well for a wayfarer. read more

One of the best massages I've had yet. For this being my first massage out here in Greensboro, I am more than satisfied. As soon as I walked in the door a calming feeling rushes over you. The intake staff were very nice, friendly, and processed my paperwork with minimal time. The massage room was very serene and made it easier to get comfortable. My masseuse Rachel was wonderful, she was very friendly, knowledgeable, and considerate; she got to know what my back needed. Rachel is definitely one of my top three favorite masseuses of all time. Just about the entire process was flawless, except for when I was checking out. I knew going in they were going to be a little more on the high side than the other massage businesses I researched but they did not honor the first time introductory rate. Also, I inquired about the package deals they offer and ended up settling on a five package deal. It wasn't until after my card was ran that the lady informed me that Rachel was booked solid for a month and May was filling up fast. This would have been a key piece of information that should have been divulged before excepting several hundred dollars. Kneaded Energy and I had a recent misunderstanding pertaining to an appointment at the school clinic. When I aired my complaint, the owner personally responded, apologized for the situation, and offered me very fair compensation. This misunderstanding involved the student clinic downstairs and not the professional massage clinic upstairs. Incidentally, this incident was the first time, in many visits to KE, where I have had an issue. The massage started 10 minutes late which was a bit annoying as I had plans later in the afternoon and didn't have a lot of time to spare. The therapist did a good job with the actual massage but it is hard to relax because of all of the noise. They have barn doors to the rooms and you can hear them opening and closing constantly which is not relaxing at all. The walls are very thin so you can hear conversations from all over the building. When I was leaving I presented my $100 gift card and asked for the $20 remaining to be used as a tip for the therapist. When my wife purchased the gift card she specifically asked about this as she did not want me to have to worry about bringing money for a tip since it was a present. The cashier told me that I couldn't do that but the $20 could be used for my next visit. She said that if I wanted to use the money for a tip then my wife would have had to have that notated up front. She did finally agree to use the $20 as a tip after more than 5-minute conversation which completely embarrassed me as I, of course, brought no cash for a tip. Basically, the company is trying to pocket $20 and basically steal the money from the therapist. I'm fine if money on the gift card can't be used for a tip but the company should give that information instead of the opposite. At the end of the day my wife paid $100 for me to leave Kneaded Energy much less relaxed than when I arrived. read more
