A very disappointing (and costly) experience. A month ago, I ordered a 'made-to-measure'…read moredouble-breasted suit from this store in anticipation of a dinner-party I have to attend in late August. First, I was told that in order to guarantee the suit's availability within that time frame, I'd have to pay an additional $150 fee over the cost of the suit. I reluctantly agreed, and thereafter was "measured" for my suit by trying on various slacks and ill-fitting jackets. The process was so unnerving that a few days layer I telephone the shop and inquired about how much time it would take to make major adjustments to the jacket should it prove necessary, and was told not to worry. On August 17th, not having heard from the shop, I telephone them, only to be told the suit was "in" and I should come in for my final fitting. When I inquired as to why no one had informed me of the suit's arrival, I was simply told someone must have called! In any event, I went in the following day and, sure enough, the jacket didn't fit properly. Told again not to worry, the adjustments necessary would be made and the suit would be ready on August 26th. I picked up the suit today (August 26th) and no adjustments were made to the jacket. Rather than argue, I took the suit immediately to my tailor for adjustment. We are both hoping the jacket can be properly modified. Also, another annoyance (though minor) is that when I purchased the suit, they asked for my initials so they could be sewn into the lining. No initials were ever sewn into the lining). All in all, not a first-class operation at all. I'm just glad I had the foresight to purchase another suit off the rack for the dinner-party!

Local retail seems to be becoming less and less. All Seasons at Ari's Treasures in Setauket epitomizes what a local retailer should be. The owners, Jeff and Monica Aston are natives to the Setauket area and are a pleasure to deal with. I have been shopping there for several years and I feel that they really keep in tune with the changing needs of the community. Their inventory reflects the quaint, beachy vibe of our beautiful hamlet on the North Shore of Long Island. I purchased everything from beautiful window candles which are on year-round in my house, to soothing chimes. Most recently, my husband and I enlisted Jeff to do a beautiful custom sign for our son's wedding. We couldn't be happier with the result and cannot wait to give the kids the sign in three weeks.

OK, anyone that knows me will tell you there are many things in life I know much about and other…read morethings in life not so much. The not so much includes purchasing jewelry. So here we were, my son preparing to ask his girlfriend to marry him. He knew he needed a ring, but wasn't sure where to go. Everyone we spoke to highly recommended "All Island Jewelry and Loan". So off we go. Upon entering the establishment we were greeted by Ray, turns out Ray is the owner. Also present was his very able assistant Luke. My son spoke with Ray and explained he was there to buy an engagement ring. At this point, most jewelry store owners would start to take out various rings and push the buyer to whatever items they need to move ( at least I think that's what they would do). With Ray, this truly wasn't the case. Instead, he starts to speak with my son in a very earnest way Explaining various settings, what's available and what he should look for given his budget. This went on for a while, quite honestly I wanted to go back to the car and take a nap: for many reasons I chose not to. Ray showed my son several different rings; he told him before purchasing the ring he should go out, look around be sure this is what he likes. In fact, Ray was like the anti-salesman. If I owned the business I probably would've fired him. He was all about happiness first sales second. Kidding aside, a very lovely engagement ring was selected, in fact it's beautiful. My son gave it to his fiancé (he was supposed wait, you know how that goes), of course she was elated. A month or so later for insurance purposes we had the ring appraised. The ring appraised very well. In summary, if you're like my son and I and really don't know where to purchase expensive pieces of jewelry I would suggest you put your trust in Ray and his team, they are fair, community minded and there for the long run. Certainly not what I expected when the entire process started.
