We started going to Tokyo Express just as things started doing carry out only after the Pandemic.We have had supper here on several occasions but the lunch deal is hard to beat.For 6.25 including a drink.One day is Hibachi chicken the next is Hibachi steak.Either special will come with rice and Hibachi veggies.Usually carrots zucchini and onions.We usually get a couple egg rolls.Its always fresh and hot.Comes with a cup of shrimp sauce. It's a gracious amount of food for the money.Luckily for me my wife is a lite eater so I never mind helping her out. Overpriced and over cooked. Egg rolls were terrible..... combo plate steak and shrimp - 2 egg rolls - cup of water ($0.50). Think we will stick with Sakura express in Randleman. Cheaper - Better - More food. read more

I usually don't write reviews of restaurants, unless they are positive reviews, out of respect for the business and because I know how hard it is for honest businesses to make a living these days, but how I was responded to this afternoon frankly has be so annoyed that I felt compelled to write this review. It started out as such a minor thing. I went into the place and ordered two lunch meals. I ordered the shrimp with carrots, and my guest ordered the steak with broccoli. My guest absolutely cannot have any onions. He has a reaction from them and just the smell of them gets him nauseous, so we were extra careful to make sure we said, "with no onions". I actually said a third time, after we placed the order "So there will be no onions in that, right?" and the young lady at the register said there would not be. Needless to say, after we got home and opened the meals, there they were, a load of onions mixed in with the rice. Of course, I should have checked but the meals were to-go and were all tied up in a plastic bag. Normally, for most businesses who give a flip about making their customers happy, a simple apology and an offer to correct the situation would be a basic. Instead, after my having to call back THREE TIMES because each time the person answering the phone said they "had to speak with the owner" and I was hung up on. I was simply met with no resolution and the answer that the owner was not going to do anything about it. I know this is such a trivial matter, a mis-made meal, but in today's climate of business having to struggle to survive, you would think this owner would at least care, even a little, that a customer was very dissatisfied. The reality was, and this came across VERY clearly in the phone call, that they SIMPLY DID NOT CARE. I am not mad at the mistake in the meal, not at all, things happen, but the response was just uncalled for and should be mentioned to others. read more

I eat here a lot due to the food being low price and not to bad, but I had an experience that is still bothering me, they have a manager who is so beyond rude to her employees, I couldn't imagine working for her. She's a Hispanic lady and honestly the smart remarks she made were completely immature. This is a business not a game. I will not be back. read more

My only pull back is that weekday specials can't be customized, and white sauce is only provided in a small plastic container, unlike their competitor, Sapporo Express, who are not even a mile down the road. Best Japanese that you'll in Asheboro. And if you know people that have never tried Japanese food this is a great place to get them hooked. The best time to go is during lunch as they have some nice specials. Decent price for some delicious food. read more
