My son attended TK here for about a year. In the middle of the school year, while he was thriving…read morein a structured and productive learning environment, the school suddenly moved him to Mrs. Qamar's class. Unfortunately, from that point forward, we saw virtually no academic progress. In my opinion, Mrs. Qamar struggled to connect with the students, communicate with them effectively, and adapt her teaching approach to meet each child's individual needs. By the end of TK, many of the children did not appear academically prepared for kindergarten. Although the school describes its program as Montessori-based, there seems to be very little consistency between classrooms. Each teacher follows a different approach, and there does not appear to be a clear, unified curriculum or adequate coordination among the teachers. The most disappointing part is that the school does not seem particularly concerned about improving these issues. Because it is the only Islamic school in the area, the attitude often feels like, "Enroll your child or don't--we will still have families waiting." It is also concerning that some teaching assistants do not have the level of English proficiency parents would reasonably expect from a private school charging approximately $1,300 per month. The one genuinely positive part of our experience was the school administration. We never had any problems with them, and they were always responsive and helpful whenever we had questions. However, when it comes to the school's overall educational quality, consistency, and classroom instruction, there are serious shortcomings that need to be addressed.

We have NEVER had a teacher we did not appreciate. As for the posts regarding bullying. . .I wonder if they are reaching out? Is the school aware of what is going on? They do have high turn over for principals but it has never really caused us any issues. And they do stress attendance but I cannot imagine any school not. In a really hard and isolating transitional time of life, LACS felt like the only place where we felt secure and at home. I was so thankful to know that everyday I dropped off my son, he would have fun (their playground facilities are amazing), he would be nurtured (the teachers we had were very attentive to my sons feelings), he would learn something (he knows his abcs, can count to 500 or more and can read short words, he is 4.5), he had a diverse set of friends (people of all races and socioeconomic groups send their kids here, we really value this!) and he would be safe. If you look at the profiles of the one star reviews they are questionable. One is just plain racist and the other one has reviewed 3 preschools all with 1-2 stars (something else going on there). Yes they plan adorable recitals, Mother's Day teas, etc. And I love them! And the kids feel like they are apart of something special. They also bring in mobile tide pools, snow into the playground once a year, the reptile guy, etc. If you are not a follower of Christ and you worry about the spiritual aspect. The extent of it is learning bible verses, praying before snack and meals and possibly a faith based recital song. My experiencing is they are not forceful with this at all but leave room for kids to explore and partake as they wish. If you are a follower of Christ, it's pretty cool to know your child is being prayed for daily and being taught to love others as Jesus loves them. Clearly, I can't say enough. I'd like to add nothing is perfect, and I'm not saying LACS is perfect. But it is great and they will care for and love your child. My youngest 18 months will be starting in the fall.
