It used to serve pretty standard pub food, but I went there recently & the menu was really varied, & what you would expect from a good restaurant rather than a pub. The food was really well presented with some fab serving plates, & the service was good - friendly & relaxed but still at just the right pace. They do set menus, which are usually limited, but their set menu was almost as long as the standard menu in some places. I'd recommend it!

After he'd finished i asked for a table for 2, and to order 2 breakfasts, only for him to reply that it was now 11:32 (even though the church clock was different to their clock) and that orders were ceased at 11:30am. We were regulars there, at least once a week, but not anymore. That £20+ pw is now getting spent elsewhere.

I had pasta for main - very spicy and cooked to my taste with bit of bite still there. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. The staff were excellent - main chap was welcoming and friendly and all staff seemed well trained and attentive. I really hope this place takes off and does well - my experience of Halifax nightlife is that it is crying out for a smart bar/restaurant.

The service and food are both exceptional, and I would recommend it to anyone. Due to its size there is no seperate downstairs bar area, but this really doesn't matter, and seating is available upstairs if necessary.

After being seated by the very attentive waiter we browsed the menu and ordered quickly, our starters were soon on the table. I had the king prawn risotto and it arrived beautifully presented and though at first glance it appeared to be on the small side it was in fact quite filling. As it was sunday I went for the traditional roast beef and yorkshire pudding and what a treat that was, the meat was cooked to perfection and very tender, the large yorkshire pudding was just how it should be, the vegetables lightly cooked and the potato lump free! Though stuffed after such a large meal I did manage to fit in a pudding, a sweet sticky toffee pudding which finished the meal off rather nicely. The food is rather expensive and you could easily get a cheaper sunday dinner elsewhere but it wouldn't be such a high standard of food.
