Great fun day beachside! Spent a few hours with a friend grabbing lunch at this low key local favorite spot. The DJ Margarita was so delish that I had to get a second round. We had the gator bites for an app and both loved them. He ordered the grouper sandwich which his is favorite and highly recommended it for me but I am not a fan of fish. I decided upon the shrimp roll and enjoyed it but will try something the next time we go there. The atmosphere is fun, relaxing and low key.....great way to wrap up the weekend! My wife and I stop there for lunch. My wife ordered the Reuben sandwich which she said was excellent I ordered the Maui chicken sandwich which I didn't realize it was jerk chicken because the menu said nothing about being a jerk chicken sandwich. Than our waitress Brandi explained that there a new menu and and it didn't say jerk chicken on the menu. Needless to say Brandi and Chris took care of it. Stopped here for lunch. Hubby got the martini salad with shrimp. They bring it out in a huge martini glass but then flip it over onto a plate. Cool presentation. He loved it. He would definitely order it again. I ordered the fish tacos (up charge for the grouper). They were freakin fantastic. Some of the best I've ever eaten. Make sure you put some of the jicama slaw on each one. Yuuuummmm. I also ordered the she crab soup but it was sour tasting (made my husband taste it to make sure it wasn't just me). I sent it back. Was recommended by family to stop in while visiting St. Pete stopped in during slow hours waitress was a little under experienced but did well. Soup of the day was Philly cheesesteak which was a first for me it was more like a beef chowder surprisingly, I also had some delicious alligator bites and fire cracker shrimp as a appetizer followed by some pretty ok fish tacos. The tacos could've been seasoned a little more Mexicany lol but they were good, lime and cilantro would've helped. Overall food was tasty and the unexperienced waitress took forever to process the check and came back short change which isn't cool her tip was shortened because of this but overall decent food and the bar looks so serious I you're in the area I recommend I'd definitely stop in again read more

Such a great beachfront restaurant! The atmosphere of the deck is great and so is the service. Also the food is delicious and amazingly fresh. They even have a pool area out back which is perfect for kids and even adults to cool down. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp, it's fantastic!! read more

So we ended up at this joint for my boys birthday party. It was a little hectic at first because it was also the same night as the Mayweather fight. It was super crowded no where to park. Luckily I was able to get a parking spot right in the front thou. To me it was your typical "on the beach bar. Nothing fancy, but they did have tons of TVs which was a plus especially with sporting events going on. It wasn't a plus that the fight kept going out from time to time but it was satellite and a storm in the immediate area. That wasn't their fault so overall it was cool. I had mahi-mahi and it was very good. We had tons of drinks and food and spent well over $200. Our waitress was very very nice so of course we looked out for her when the top came. Anyway I wasn't really feeling the vibe of the place but it turned out to be an outstanding evening. Great service on such a busy night. read more

The food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable for the big portion sizes. We ordered sausage and gravy biscuits, bacon, fresh fruit and chocolate chip pancakes. The food was very fresh and the restaurant was very clean. This place is worth visiting if you are in the area and want a casual and yummy breakfast! They also make great bar drinks. I have been to this bar before but no other bartender has made me want to come back and tonight Nicole made me want to never go to any other bar. Best place ever 10 out of 10 in any way and close to the beach rich is always a pulse

Toasted Monkey is an interesting place. On a recent Saturday night, we were literally the only people in the restaurant. From what I could tell, maybe the beach bar is the big attraction? I never made it out there, but the clientele we had to walk through who were furiously puffing away on their cigarettes at the restaurant's entrance let me know I didn't necessarily want to. The night we dined, the bathroom at the front of the restaurant was out of order, so if you needed to go, you had to go to the hotel to do so. The floors and chairs were dirty and the whole place has a dingy vibe to it. I get it- it's a sports/beach bar- but it was gross. The menu has something for everyone- fish, chicken, pork, hamburgers, Those I dined with had everything from tacos to sandwiches to beach bowls. Overall, we were pleased, but the food isn't anything special and the vegetables tasted like something from a nursing home. With the variety available, though, you should be easily able find something to please the pickiest eater. The kicker to the whole night was that someone in our group used a gift card to partially pay for his meal, added cash to it, and was expecting change back. Instead of running the gift card first and applying to cash to the balance, the waiter used the cash, then ran the gift card. It caused a great deal of confusion, not to mention inconvenience, because the cash that should have been returned was to go towards the waiter's tip. Instead of being apologetic or offering to rectify the situation when it became a problem, the waiter shrugged it off and walked away. It was a dishonest move in an effort to pocket more money. I doubt I will return. The food might have gotten me back if others wanted to dine there, but the cleanliness, clientele, and dishonest of the wait staff will keep me away. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The waitress was extremely rude to me and could not get our order right. I first ordered a black bean quinoa burger, but after waiting 10 minutes the waitress returns to inform me that they no longer have the black bean burger. I decide to order a veggie beach bowl. The description of the bowl says "roasted tomatoes, onions, peppers, zucchini, squash, and avocado". Upon receiving the bowl, it was completely raw. No veggies were roasted or anything. It was awful. Then my friend who I was dining with never received her food. Apparently there was a "mix up" in the kitchen. They brought her food out as we were leaving... I am here on vacation and am really disappointed with how this experience went. If I could give this place 0 stars then I would of. read more

This is a fun place right off of the beach with live music. I'm a fan of that. We went two days in a row - the first night we got fish spread and some sort of cheesy shrimp and grits - that was very good. The next day we Asian port wraps (don't do it) and grouper sandwich - not very good. I would not go back for the food but it was a fun place to watch the sunset and the band. read more

Beach bar with volleyball and live music. Food was fine, fries were good, drinks were good. Service was excellent and very attentive. Bathroom was weird, dirty and needed repair (door knob, tp holder, hand dryer were broken). We had a nice time. I have learned this lesson before...if you walk in and the floors are sticky, LEAVE! This was the worst experience ever, started with slow terrible wait staff. No silverware provided, probably didn't have any clean. My son ordered a burger, they forgot it. Didn't come until after everyone else had finished. The worst part was the server, never said sorry or apologized for the situation. Definitely no management was there to help correct the problem. It was a complete disaster...oh and let's not forget the "ladies of the night" with only G-string bikinis hanging out there. read more

We're from the Bay Area in California and it was our first time at Toasted Monkey as we were visiting family from St. Pete's with our brother and sister in law from Seattle. Food was above average but the key for us was the exceptional service. Our waitperson JULIA at the Beach Bar immediately made us feel comfortable and her service as well as bartending made us want to stay all night. My wife just loved the Double Expresso martini! We were fortunate enough to get to hear MARK HUHTA who was playing that Saturday. Great songwriter, voice and entertainer. Highly recommend! From the FUN table on the left! read more

We were in town for a sporting event and came with a large group of parents and athletes. We had an extra few people to add to the reservation and there was a table available directly next to the one where our whole party was sitting but the manager wouldn't allow us to sit there with the rest of the group stating they had to save it for walk-ins, and instead put us at a table on the other side of the room. We were there for 2 hours and that table sat empty the entire time we were there. So the poor rating is for the manager's lack of discretion as it pertains to customer service. read more

Don't waste your time. The manager, Julie, is super rude. She accused my friends and I of being drunk when we are way too old for that and just there for dinner. I didn't realize laughing at a joke made you a drunk. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!!! Terrible customer service!!! The food sucks and is way overpriced. I have lived on the beach all my life but have just recently started going to the toasted monkey. It has easily become my favorite restaurant on the beach and I have never had a bad experience. The menu is priced very fairly compared to the other restaurants on the beach and the service is great. Calvin is my usual server and he always lightens the mood, provides excellent service, and sets us up for a great time. My favorite items on the menu are the shrimp wrap (9.99), boneless wing basket (9.99), and the wings (9.99). The portions are generous and the food is high quality. As a local I know all the spots on the beach and this is the place to go! read more
