    Huevos Benedictinos con salmón ahumado
    Marilyn A.

Small cute brunch place on Justo Sierra, there was no wait at 11 AM on a Saturday which was surprising. Staff is very friendly and attentive. I ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon very delicious and it comes with two sides. I am glad they went very light on the hollandaise sauce, and I was able to truly taste the salmon. Sadly I was full with the eggs Benedict and didn't touch the fruit or bacon sides. My significant other ordered the chilaquiles rojos which she enjoyed very much, it also comes with a side of beans. Minus one star for the beans that had the texture and taste of canned beans. Will definitely be back next time in Mexicali.

This cute and tiny little breakfast joint is serving up some traditional and non-traditional breakfast plates. I got the Eggwich. Flavors were good, but it was impossible to keep the sandwich together! Everything was wet and the bun was buttered and super soft, which made it all the more difficult to hold onto. My husband got the Mc Toast which was delicious and if we go back I'll be getting that, even though his was a total mess to eat as well. I was bummed to find that even though it was Sunday, they didn't have cafe de olla, so I got regular which was decent. I think the most offputting thing and reason I can't give a higher rating is that the water tasted like raw chicken juice runoff, which unfortunately caused me to question the cleanliness of everything else. The place has potential and we will likely go back at some point.

Wasnt allowed in at first because I was a little warm. I'm old and fat, and its 115 outside, yeah, I'm roasting lol but more power to them for being cautious during these times. The avocado toast was really good. French toast was good. OJ was really good. Staff was friendly. Will come back :)

    French toast with fruit

I always come here for breakfast when I am visiting my dad. The staff is always so friendly and not to mention the food is always so delicious! It was my first time trying their French toast today and I was not disappointed. The fruit that came along with it was so fresh and the yogurt on top was so creamy and not too overpowering! The French toast is now my new favorite dish here! The chilaquiles were also very good, they were not soggy what so ever! I definitely recommend this breakfast place, especially since they are still very conscious of covid safety and regulations.

Good food and good service, but too noisy! But I do recommend the place, they accommodate us even though the place was full.

Friday's special was 2 tacos Dorado rice and beans, or an asada quesadilla with a side of consome for 12.99. You are recieved with complementary chips and salsa which were delicious! I am looking forward to visiting again before I head back home.

Don't you just love it when a restaurant gets things right?…read more Owners Roberto and Rina ("Reina") Perez have figured out how to prepare and present home cooking in a commercial setting, and, in doing so, have shown that they understand the importance of "home" in that construct. Some of this is no surprise to me. Reina is cousin to Rodnia Attiq (nee Navarro), who, with her mother Rosario Sotelo owned San Diego's El Borrego for almost 25 years, until they closed their business at the end of 2025. Having been welcomed and fed many times with homely care at El Borrego, I'm not surprised that the family connection - and the warmth and hospitality included in it - extends to Cousin Reina. If you're having a bad day, it's worth dropping in for a bite to eat just so you can say "hi" to her. Between the food and the greeting you'll receive, you'll leave feeling better about things. So what to eat? Depending on the time of day and how hungry you are, you'll be pleased with Cazuelitas; Pozole Rojo or the herby Guerrero-style Pozole Verde; hearty Tlacoyos; large Enchilada plates; or probably my favorite Mexican dish, Mixiote de Borrego, which is lamb that's spiced, marinated and slow-steamed until it falls off the bone. I've eated most of those things and seen the rest on my fellow diners' tables. Especially now that El Borrego is gone, if El Centro wasn't a two-hour drive from my house, I'd be a regular, so that I could continue sampling the superb and wide-ranging menu at Antojito Como En Casa.

The first piece given was very fatty and barely had any meat to eat. The restaurant did offer to provide a different piece or entree item. The tuna was so tasty. The dessert of the chocolate cake was dry. Other than that, everything was exceptional and pretty much a nice dining experience.

Would have been nicer if there were some kind of sauce to go with it I thought. Butter, demiglase, chimichurri, something. The arugula salad that came with was too salty and too sour but the tomatoes in the salad was delightful. Is that grilled or put in oven for short time? Light warmness of those tomatoes really brought out the sweetness of the tomatoes itself, I enjoyed that very much. The salsa and beans that came at the beginning of the meal was actually really good. Wife ordered a hamburger, and wow. The meat was so so sooo salty. That's gotta be extra salted by mistake. There is no way that was prepared correctly. Tortilla soup was quite plain. I kinda wished there to have more depth in flavor. We ordered the signature tacos for my kid. I didn't try them but my kid liked it. Price was about $100 for 3 of us. And I feel that's a bit much for this quality of experience on this side of the border. 4 stars, I think is the reasonable decision on my part. Oh, but thank you for having English menu for foreigner like me.
