If you're looking for a quick, honest review, here it is: Dr. T is a lifesaver for anyone struggling with ANY symptoms related to TMJ and I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you're like me and prefer some details before seeing a specialist, here you go: I have had TMJ for 30+ years due to orthodontic treatment as a teen that left me with awful malocclusion; my back molars do not meet, therefore I have no back bite. I have seen one of the top dentists in NYC specializing in TMJ treatment for years, and the various night guards (and a daytime appliance for stressful times) that I have from him have been rather effective at managing my jaw pain. BUT, until now no one has been able to alleviate other major issues that I knew were deriving from my TMJ--chronic neck pain/spasms, headaches, and challenges breathing chief among them. In fact, many, many practitioners (including medical doctors) told me over and over again that these problems were unrelated to my TMJ. I knew in my gut they were wrong. I am an incredibly well-educated patient, and tried various methods over the years, each of which provided SOME relief: massage, cupping, adhesion release therapy, Myofascial release therapy... (you can imagine how expensive this has all been--I don't dare add up the annual bills as the number would send me spiraling!). There are other treatments I decided not to try but that were recommended, such as Botox and trigger-point injections--somehow I knew they weren't right for me, that they'd be temporary fixes, and that I needed to treat the root of the problem. When I saw Dr. T on Instagram patiently explaining WHY a particular treatment was working, and that he understood all these ancillary problems related to TMJ, I felt some hope. I couldn't be more grateful to be one of his patients. He assesses you as an individual, and treats you with whatever modality makes the most sense. Rather than being a proponent of just one method (cupping, say, or chiropractic adjustments, for example) he has a vast toolbox at his disposal. It was so validating that he understood EXACTLY how my breathing was impacted by my TMJ...and that he has developed ways to help!! Through postural correction, neuromuscular re-education, and targeted physical therapy exercises, Dr. T has helped me more than any other specialist I have ever seen (and I have seen a LOT). To say my treatment with him has been life-changing would not be an overstatement. I could go on and on (clearly ), but suffice to say this: If you are suffering from pain you think is related to TMJ, I strongly recommend scheduling an appointment with Dr. T. (even if he finds your pain is not from TMJ, I'd venture to say he'll be able to help). I don't write reviews often, but knowing how lonely and infuriating it can be to suffer with pain and not find any answers in the medical community, I hope that sharing my experiences here may help someone else find relief and an effective treatment for their TMJ. read more

After trying everything to resolve my chronic TMD--from massage therapy and a dental bite guard to Botox and acupuncture--nothing seemed to stick. I was hesitant about physical therapy, having experienced therapists who just handed me a sheet of exercises or offered superficial jaw massages (been there, done that). Then I discovered Dr. T through an online search. Even though I had to drive an hour each way, I felt he was precisely the person I needed at that moment--and the drive is absolutely worth it. My first visit was a whirlwind: an evaluation and a flood of information--but most importantly, I walked out feeling hopeful for the first time. At that point, solid food, brushing my teeth, yawning, talking, or exercising--all triggered pain. I just hurt all the time, and pain is exhausting! By trusting Dr. T's process, I felt relief after my very first treatment, and each session that followed brought even greater progress. I kept a journal to remind myself how debilitating my pain had been. By visit #10, I could also see how far I'd come. I had resumed light exercise, was eating more normally, and was no longer reliant on Advil every night. After completing my 15th treatment, the results are remarkable. I'm not fully healed yet, but the level of relief and function I've regained is incredible and has me finally moving toward lasting recovery. I truly believe I'm on the path to being completely pain-free. What sets Dr.T apart is his personalized, science-based, and compassionate approach in each session. He listens closely--not just to your words, but to how your body is responding. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am for Dr. T. He is not only an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable doctor, but also a genuinely caring person. His help has truly given me my life back, and I am forever thankful. read more

My appointment with Dr. T today was very eye opening. Dr. T was very friendly and knowledgeable. He did a wonderful job at clearly explaining in terms anybody would understand what was happening throughout the appointment, what was happening with me physically and what his plans were to correct my TMJD. I walked away with a better understanding of how much all the parts of the body are connected and how different parts work together to compensate for the parts of my body that are struggling. He made sure I was confident that I understood my responsibilities in making my treatment successful and how to complete those responsibilities. He gave me what I believe is a realistic prognosis. I know that it took decades for my TMJD to reach this point of severity, so I maintain a realistic outlook on how much time it will take to correct, but here I am just a couple hours from the completion of my first appointment and I surprisingly already feel a significant amount of relief and comfort, something I was not expecting right away. Never in my life did I think I would ever find an effective treatment for my TMJD, but for the first time I am hopeful and excited for the outcome of this treatment. If you are out there searching, wondering if there is help for you the answer is a resounding yes! I highly recommend seeing Dr. T. I traveled all the way from Arizona to New Jersey to seek his treatment and considering the relief I am already experiencing I know it is a decision I will not regret read more

I began my journey with Dr. Tahir in April to address my TMJ pain, which had plagued me for a year and a half. The discomfort was so intense, particularly on my left side, that I couldn't even chew on that side. After just 10 sessions with Dr. Tahir, I've experienced a remarkable improvement--about 60 to 70 percent relief from my jaw pain! I can now eat from the left side again, which is such a tremendous relief. He is also assisting me with other concerns like headaches, neck pain, and migraines, which are either directly or indirectly contributing to my TMJ. With Dr. Tahir's help, I am finally finding the relief I've been longing for from these additional issues. His holistic approach targets the root cause, which is often elusive. What truly sets Dr. Tahir apart is his commitment to educating his patients. He emphasized the significance of posture and its impact not only on jaw pain but also on headaches and overall health. I discover something new in every session. In addition to the physical treatment, Dr. Tahir has provided immense emotional support. He is incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely devoted to his patients' healing. I eagerly anticipate more pain-free days, and I wholeheartedly recommend him! If you're experiencing TMJ pain, don't waste time elsewhere--head straight to Dr. Tahir. He will genuinely assist you on your healing journey! read more

TMJ specialist! I initially went in for a ruptured ACL rehab and found myself getting treated for TMJ which somehow is connected to a lot of my chronic issues I was dealing with. This place has been an absolute godsend. Dr. T really takes a non-traditional approach to rehab and treatment. He has a very optimistic approach and does a very good job of educating you on what you're dealing with and what he's doing to treat it. He focuses a lot on improving posture and that really goes a long way and making you feel better and healthier. As a former athlete and coach I am now optimistic about getting back on the field potentially avoiding surgery.TMJ specialist! 5 Stars TMJ Physical Therapy - Cedar Knolls, NJ After a traumatic injury that left my jaw broken and wired shut for three weeks, I came to TMJ Physical Therapy barely able to open my mouth. Chewing even soft foods was a struggle--most of the time I just had to swallow things whole. My injury started on March 1st, 2025, after a fainting episode led to a shattered jaw and a seven-hour surgery. By the time I started therapy here, my jaw felt locked and stiff. But now, after just four sessions, I can confidently say things are changing for the better. I can open my mouth much wider, chew real food again--including steak and chicken--which felt impossible just a few weeks ago. I'm still on the road to full recovery, but the progress so far has been incredible. The staff here are knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in your recovery. If you're dealing with a TMJ injury or post-surgical jaw issues, don't wait--this place is where you need to be. I'll continue to update this review as I go further in my recovery journey. read more

As someone with over 15 years in the PT field, I highly recommend Dr. Taher! His extensive experience and deep knowledge of functional anatomy sets him apart. Dr. Taher combines traditional methods with advanced techniques to address your issues through a comprehensive, whole-body approach. This isn't a "come see me for 3 months and then you get better" clinic. You'll see improvements before you walk out the door on day one. His passion for healing is evident, he cares about you getting better, and his ability to 'read' the body, coupled with his skill in explaining complex concepts in a simple, understandable way, helps you grasp the 'why' behind your pain or issues. If you're ready to get better, Dr. Taher is the one to see. It's rare to find a DPT who offers dedicated 1-on-1 treatment sessions these days, and I truly applaud his commitment. read more

I have been suffering from neck pain for years as well as jaw tightness and mild tinnitus. I started with Dr. T in December and it has been life changing for me. I was taking 800mg Ibuprofen sometimes daily, using heat, massage and any biofreeze-all would help briefly but pain and headaches would return. His approach to PT is unique, sometimes painful, and educational. He spends time with you, individualizes your plan and uses techniques that you don't find at a typical PT place. He by far the best I have been too, including chiropractors. If you are suffering, he is worth the money and time! read more

I've suffered from TMJ dysfunction my entire life and had never really treated it until now. Dr. T takes the time during each session to understand the factors contributing to my symptoms, from my posture to my stress and tension habits. I came in at a 10/10 pain level, and I've felt better after every session. I'm also much more intentional about improving the daily habits that affect my TMJ. Dr. T is incredibly knowledgeable, and I especially appreciate his holistic approach. I still have more work to do, but he has been great so far, and I highly recommend him! read more

I used to experience daily headaches before I started seeing Dr. Taher. His approach goes beyond just treating jaw pain--he addresses all the underlying issues related to TMJ. Since beginning treatment, I've noticed a significant improvement in my overall well-being. Although my insurance didn't cover the full cost and I had to pay most of it out of pocket, it was absolutely worth it. If you're struggling with jaw pain, migraines, neck pain, or tension headaches, I highly recommend Dr. Taher. His expertise and comprehensive care truly make a difference. read more

I had never done any kind of physical therapy before, however, I began to experience some shoulder pain and discomfort in my hip. At the initial evaluation Dr.T blew me away when he pointed out pain in my left hip that I had actually forgot to mention. It became very clear that Dr.T is super knowledgeable in his field. I have been doing my best to keep up with PT two times a week and have noticed a drastic decrease in body aches I would usually feel. I would 110% recommend going even if you are a little hesitant, trust me it is worth it! read more

Unique treatment that gets to the root of the problem with fast results. I went to many physical therapy treatment centers and you get a lot of fluff before they even get to treat your issue. Not here, Dr. Taher identifies the root cause of the issue, takes time to educate you about it and is upfront about all the details. He treated my hamstring injury and I am at nearly 100% within a few weeks. Highly recommended! read more

I've had the pleasure of using Tahir for a shoulder injury. He told me straight forward in the beginning that he wants to see me only a few times and that's it. I was surprised that he wouldn't want to see me more, his response was after showing me how to sit up straight, have proper posture and adjust me, I should be perfectly fine. He did exactly that and I've never felt better! He really knows his stuff for sure! read more

Working with Dr. T regarding my TMJ has changed my life for the better. The things he has been doing to help my TMJ has relieved a ton of tension around my temple and I also have been sleeping the best I ever have recently.
