The biggest difference is the seating--here, the seats fully recline and include footrests, so you can stretch out comfortably. The seats also feel wider and more cushioned than at MarqE. The audio quality is solid, and the overall theater feels modern and well maintained. One downside during my visit was that my seat was very dirty--it looked like someone had spilled a drink on it, and the entire front of the seat was sticky and wet. I had to move to a different seat, but there were very limited options left, so I wasn't able to sit next to my partner, which was a big inconvenience. Tickets can be a bit pricey, likely because of the location, but Regal's Tuesday discounts help a lot--you can often get tickets for around $8, especially for matinee showings. Parking is available in the attached garage for $5, which is convenient since there's very limited street parking in the area. Staff were friendly during my visit, and the theater has multiple screens with a good variety of movies. Overall, this is easily one of the best movie theaters inside the loop, and I'd still recommend it.

There is an arcade to kill time before showtime as well as Holey Moley Golf Club. I recently went to see Stranger Things Finale. I was happy they had several showtimes available. I got a Bubly grapefruit drink & a hot dog with my concessions voucher. I wish there were more sparkling water options or different flavors of Bubly. The hot dog was pretty good. My theater was one of the smaller ones this time and I sat in the back row H but it was still a great view still and I love the reclining seats with the small tray table so I'm not having to shove my belongings on the side of me. The employees were outside at the end of the movie ready to clean. The bathroom was pretty clean as well. The only downside here is the parking fee but the location is convenient for city dwellers.

Tickets were on the pricier end especially since it was a Thursday night, but not a big deal. The workers were friendly, and the seats were EXTREMELY comfortable & cushy... I still think about them to this day... I also thought it was nice how movie viewers could order food and the workers would come serve it on a platter! I'm not too familiar with any deals or memberships that the River Oaks Theatre may have compared to its big name competitors, but I highly recommend everyone to experience a film here at least once! Also there is ample parking nearby, but can't speak on it too much since I was dropped off.

I have removed 1 star due to the unfortunate experience I had via their expensive hotdog. This is a warning to everyone here.. the banh mi hotdog tastes like a**. omgagod... it literally tastes like evil. I have never had anything like it, and I've eaten at dozens of Vietnamese restaurants in my life. It's not only the pickled veggies on it that seemed to have marinated in something really awful, but it's the weird smoked? flavor given to the hotdog. I considered sending it back but opted to just make the best of the movie. Do you like the hotdog? If so I'd like you to post an opposing review because I can't imagine someone enjoying it. And since I am here... I get the gratuity is included but the wait staff never came back to clear dishes, and maybe it's because they will only come if you press the button? If that's the case it was not communicated to us, and when the wait staff went by us to serve our neighbors maybe it would be a good practice to check in quickly with other people in the row while they're there? That's it. Will return. Will never order hot dog again.

The lot close to the theater was $18 and the one we found which was a block away was $12. The theater is spacious and the concession stand is located in a good spot. There are also many restroom stalls, but the smell was terrible and the bathrooms were not clean. It was very hard to stay inside. The seating was pretty comfortable and spacious with good leg room and the area was clean. The screening was good, with good clarity and sound.

Tickets are cheap: $30 each. Wine was a rip-off at $20 a glass for table wine (cocktails at iPic are $10). We ordered two glasses without realizing it'd be $40. The bartender had already pour our glasses before we could change our mind (and wish she would have alerted us that for $10 more we could have purchased the entire bottle... So almost $100 later, we are in theater 7 where it was stuffy and hot as hell; people were sweating. I had my jeans rolled up to my knees and eventually went to the concession stand for cups of ice water and they gave me cardboard boxes to serve as a fan. That's just ridic. Def can't blame the staff because they're mostly teens. But management, corporate, and even Nicole Kidman--take notice and fix this stat. For now, we're just gonna go to iPic because you spend about the same amount and for a much more enjoyable movie experience.

And for the non-conformist in you, some of their films are more small-time and obscure than what you'd find at the MFA. They're hosting a few different film festivals this year, including an Asian film festival and a Latin American film festival. And they sometimes host Q and A's with the filmmakers, which brings alot of energy to the screenings. Obviously, it comes with the inherent pitfall of any art film venue.. you can see some real stinkers there. But another day, you'll catch something cool and memorable that you would never have seen anywhere else. There are a few cons: First and foremost, it's CASH ONLY and there isn't a convenient ATM nearby. Second, parking is confusing since it's on the Rice campus. And finally, there's no concession stand. The film calendar on their website is well-kept now, and is updated regularly. http://film.rice.edu/Events.aspx

It's really great that Rice can open this up to the public and it provides adequate space and comfortable seating and format for a variety of different events.
