I've attended to some of their classes through my agency; specifically a class called "babies's first tastes",which discusses the introduction of food to infants through baby lead weaning. On their website, they offer services that you can pay for that may or may not be covered by insurance. They offer classes that are free to the public for new moms and their babies, including a breast-feeding support class on Fridays. Look at their calendar to confirm availability. They offer other classes too to help support moms.

As a first time mom navigating breastfeeding and my daughter having a difficult time latching, I…read morewas excited to get some aid and guidance in our breastfeeding journey. However, my experience at milk and honey was not great. We saw ceit blue, she had unrealistic expectations and basically shamed me for supplementing with formula. She kept pushing breast milk banks and wanted me to bring my less than a week old daughter to a myofascial specialist. Not offering better techniques or exercises for us to try at home first. She also immediately went to selling us different nipple sizes for bottles which my daughter made a noise as if she was not latching well on, but still recommended to buy it. Almost $500 later, I was left feeling even more lost and back to square 1. Would recommend barrio babies Angelica is amazing and actually listens to your concerns and HELPS you and provides exercises if needed.

After calling to different places, based on information that our pediatrician gave us, this was the easiest and fastest response. They had the availability to see us the very next day. Getting there, the office had that "sea vacations" vibes, really cozy and calm. We were informed that Angelica will take a look to our case. She was there, listened us for all our concerns and she nailed it just by listening, she took a look to my wife and confirmed it right away. Even thou she gave us the kind of news that you wouldn't like to hear (milk supply was not going to be enough), she supported us and started to find a best way to help us through some formula, techniques and meds. The very next day on a weight check with our pediatrician we already saw a good sign that we were heading in the right direction. Since our son got some weight back. We also had a follow up with Angelica in a week after the first check. In our second check, we realized that our son got 1lbs 3oz more. It was a relief to know our son was fine, Angelica was right all along. We spend the whole hour once again, going through all the best practices to take care of our son and his feeding. I'm way out of words to describe what it meant for us, My wife and I, we believe Angelica was like an Angel sent to us in the right time. I hope this review helps people to point them in the right direction. Thank you Angelica, once again, we are truly grateful. Sincerely, Jesus Dominguez.

I visited Barrio Babies for lactation support after my pediatrician diagnosed my 4-month-old with a…read moretongue tie and recommended a release procedure. I met with Maria, and unfortunately, my experience was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Despite my pediatrician's diagnosis, Maria insisted my son did not have a tongue tie and even claimed the pediatrician was "just trying to make money." This was a serious and unfounded accusation. She also told me I had low milk supply and immediately recommended I take Metformin and Reglan--two prescription medications. When I asked about natural options to support milk production, she told me, "No, you're past that option, you need drugs." Her tone and approach felt dismissive and pushy. I left the appointment feeling confused and unsatisfied. I later sought a third opinion from a qualified specialist, and it was confirmed that my son does have a tongue tie. I would not recommend Barrio Babies to moms who are exclusively breastfeeding and looking for compassionate, evidence-based support--especially if you're hoping to explore natural options first.

Oh my goodness, I cannot say enough good things about Katie. I started breastfeeding immediately at…read moreTMC, and the in-house lactation consultants assured me I was doing great and my baby was getting fed. I was proved otherwise after a rough first few days home, followed by a pediatrician's visit. My baby girl had lost a little over 10% of her weight in the first few days of life. The pediatrician recommended that I start feeding with a combo of formula. However, I was hesitant to move on to formula right away, given everything I'd heard in the breastfeeding community. There are so many mixed messages out there. I was so lucky that my Doula referred us to Katie, a registered nurse and certified lactation consultant. She did home visits, and since I was so stressed and tired, a home visit was a lifesaver. Katie was able to come that same evening; I couldn't believe it. After a weighted feeding, we discovered I was seriously underproducing, and my baby girl was hungry. It was such an emotional time for us; Katie was compassionate and kind as I sobbed in my living room. She stayed longer to ensure we had everything needed to get our baby girl through the night. She taught us about formula and bottles and even showed me how to work my pump so I could start pumping immediately. Katie came again the next day to ensure baby gained some weight through the night and continued to follow up weekly as we monitored my supply and baby's weight. Katie helped me learn that some of my health history likely was the reason I was underproducing and wouldn't ever be able to pump enough to bring my supply up to breastfeed exclusively. She knows so much about breastfeeding. I had no idea about the complexity of breastfeeding. It's incredible what Katie understands from observing baby feed, assessing her movement, etcetera. We have continued to meet with Katie, and now our little one is almost two months old and thriving. I'd been having latching issues on one side; Katie kept following up on it and discovered that the baby was having some neck issues, potentially torticollis. As her neck tension wasn't improving, Katie referred us to physical therapy but gave us some alternative feeding methods until we could get her into physical therapy. One day using Katie's advice, we are already seeing improvements in baby's mood. I should have met with Katie during pregnancy so I had support set up in advance regardless of what happened; thank goodness I could see her when I did. Call her if you need help; you'll be so happy you did!

The breastfeeding journey that a person goes through postpartum is definitely not something one can…read morefully prepare for. I had a C-section and things didn't go as planned, which made it very difficult to feed my baby in the beginning. At the hospital I was scared and we ultimately had to give the baby donor milk in order to feed her. I tried getting her to latch and ended up causing damage. The hospital was so short-staffed, that they weren't able to provide a lactation consultant until the day before discharge and by then we were already 3 days into her getting donor milk via a bottle. Once I was at home, I felt hopeless. I felt like there's no way I was going to be able to breastfeed my daughter or even pump enough to provide breast milk for her. They sent me home on the agreement that I would give her formula until my milk came in. For the first two weeks of her life I was barely pumping enough to feed her. That is when I found Katie through The Lactation Network. Her lactation consultation services have helped me on this journey and it has been a night and day difference. I noticed improvement after just the first consultation appointment. It turns out, it was a combination of factors that were affecting my supply and output. Flange size, frequency of pumping, and even my mental health was affecting it. Weighted feeds also really helped to show me how much my daughter was actually consuming when latched. Throughout the entire process, Katie helped us to feel so comfortable and reassured. She never made me feel rushed or pressured to do anything at a certain pace. Now I feel more confident that I can provide for my daughter. She is also very attentive to partners being there as well. My husband is my rock and goes with me to every appointment. He felt that he was listened to and that Katie truly cared about his input as well. We have attended both in-office and at-home visits with Katie. It was very calm and serene in the office and at home Katie made us feel very comfortable with the process. If I hadn't have sought out Katie's help, I probably would have given up before I even had a chance to see what I could provide for my daughter. I am so thankful for the services that Katie have provided thus far. Even though she tells me it is me doing the work, I still couldn't have mentally and physically come this far without her help. If you are struggling with any part of your breastfeeding journey, I highly suggest reaching out to Katie for help.

Colleen is a truly a genius when it comes to babies, lactation, family dynamics, mental health, and anything else that could possibly come up post-baby. We love that we can text her and get instant answers - Google has nothing on her! She was also an amazing health advocate for me because of her background as an RN (even joining in doc apts) as I had complex postpartum complications and our family will always be so grateful for her guidance and positivity. We also hired Colleen for her sleep specialist program/sleep training and her custom schedule, coaching, and tips made it so easy. Our son has been sleeping through the night and taking 4 naps a day since 3.5 months old. (Now he's a pretty chill baby, but Colleen is magic.) Working with her is worth every penny, whether it's for a first baby or navigating multiples. I'm writing a long review because I'm so passionate about Colleen's work and I hope others hire her to make their postpartum journeys a million times better than you can possibly imagine.
