To all my fellow subcontractors, beware if you ever come across David from TLS Builders. I was referred to him by a good friend of mine. David needed the services of a stone fabricator, and when I spoke to him on the phone, he seemed professional and honest. After our conversation, David offered me a job to fix a fireplace hearth that his workers had damaged during the demolition process. I took the job, hoping it would lead to better opportunities in the future.
However, communication with David became extremely poor after I accepted the job. He was unresponsive and I had to coordinate everything with the homeowner, including scheduling and approvals for edge details on the fireplace hearth. After completing the job, it took me days and weeks to get a response and get paid for the work I performed.
On the second job, which involved a complete kitchen countertop, kitchen island with two waterfalls, full slabs for the kitchen backsplash, bar countertops, powder room countertop, and wet bar countertops, David requested that I provide both labor and materials. However, due to the difficulties I faced in getting paid for the previous job, I decided to only provide labor and have him supply the materials.
It has been almost a year since the jobs were completed (August 2022), and David has not responded to any of my phone calls or text messages. Subcontractors, please stay away from this guy. David is not an honest person.
P.S. Homeowners, if he is not honest with the people who work for him and help him make a profit, I can't imagine what might happen if he asks for a down payment. read more
