In short, this is one of the best experiences I have had with any business- much less a car dealership. This is a small, family owned and run business. They are honest people who do great work and genuinely care about their customers. I can't tell you how different an experience this was than dealing with a major dealership in Birmingham that had a similar car I was interested in. The people at TLC motors are up front with you and bring none of the sleazy auto dealership games that you find virtually everywhere else. My experience with them is as follows: I found a car on autotrader that was at TLC motors. I called to make sure it was still available and then drove 2.5 hours from Atlanta, but when I arrived, the car had been sold. You can imagine my disappointment at the time, but any disappointment ended here. Rajai, the owner, took me into his office and sat me down and started going through car auctions looking for a similar vehicle. Sure enough, he found one. Same make, model, color, year, and with 15,000 fewer miles than the one I had come to see. He bought it for me on the auction with absolutely zero obligation to buy it and never once requested any deposit or anything to buy it or hold it for me. He said if I didnt like it, he could sell it to someone else no problem. Within 1 week, the new car had arrived. Rajai ended up selling me the vehicle at an incredible price and giving me a very good amount on my trade in. These people genuinely care about their customers' satisfaction. When I arrived the second time to see the new car, it was in excellent condition. I asked to take it to a 3rd party mechanic for an inspection and they were happy for me to do that. I pointed out the few flaws I could find to Rajai and his son Joe, and they had their mechanic and detail crew come over immediately and fix even the most minor problems I could find (a squeaky sunroof, etc). I was moving soon after buying the car, so he walked me through the titling process for the new state. Summary- this is an incredible place with great people and great cars. Ken K. We recently purchased a vehicle from TLC Motors. Very nice car but we were initially told the car's price was $18,000. We were okay with that. We were then told that they had installed Lo Jack on the vehicle and they do that on all their vehicles. So we thought we were getting more value. We were not told that it cost us $995. We would not have purchased that additionally. At the finance table we signed a lot of documents which were not explained well to us. I mentioned the price of $20,806.00 which was now on the top of the contract and he explained that it was taxes and fees. It was late and we need to get home so we carried on. After a couple of days we began to regret some of the extras like the waranties. So we called to make an appointment to take those off the finance deal. It was then we understood that we had paid an extra $995 for Lo Jack. Sounds like it should be easy to take care of, right? After removing the warranties and adjusting the financing. we asked about the Lo Jack and were told that it couldn't be removed and we were stuck with it. They wouldn't rebate the $995. I got in touch with Lo Jack and they said it was up to the dealer to remove the device and rebate the cost. To date, after leaving messages for the general manager to return a call to us, we have been ignored. We are happy with the car but the service leaves much to be desired. read more

Although Low Jack is not required by the State of SC but an option we would have probably chose it regardless. They gave me 2k more for my old than any other dealerships. Was sold a ford f-150 lariat, took it home started smoking the very next day(not even a full day later) They refused to foot any of the bill to have it towed to their shop, also refused to help cover mechanic here in NC. Dealer Sold a car to my 20-year-old daughter forcing her to purchase a LoJack service agreement that she tried to decline several times. Sales manager lied to her and said she is required by law to take the subscription which is a lie and illegal in the state of South Carolina when a vehicle is not financed through them directly. Having LoJack installed on the vehicle doesnot equal requirement to have to activate. It is illegal in the state of South Carolina to force the service on a buyer that has outside financing!! When trying to contact them to set this straight sales manager got very rude and hung up on me. He seriously was trying to tell me that he was rightfully extorting a young female purchasing her first car by forcing her to pay the service simply because it was installed on the car! We came into TLC on May 11th to buy a truck listed on their site. The sales manager informed us that the vehicle was listed incorrectly, but they would honor the price. After seeing the car (which would not start due to corroded battery terminals) and expressing our desire to purchase, the sales manager changed his mind and tried to charge us $2k more, and the website was suddenly updated. After negotiating, we agreed to come up $1k to cover the inspection, necessary repairs (thinking it was only the corroded battery), and detailing, as well as to pay to get the bald tires replaced ourselves. We picked up the vehicle on May 14th, and the check engine light came on as we drove off the lot, and we had zero fluids in the truck. We also realized water intrusion in the back window, the door lock didn't work, the starter was defective, and the windshield washer fluid device did not work. Additionally, we have been notified by our bank that they have yet to receive the title from TLC. We have made 10+ trips to their service department to fix all the issues with no resolution. Yesterday, July 8th, when we arrived to pick up the vehicle after leaving it there for 11 days (and being told our truck was not a priority by the general manager, Matt), the service manager, Christy, informed us that the person they sent to get my vehicle from their outside muffler mechanic brought back the wrong vehicle that wasn't even associated with TLC and had to go back to return the random truck and get ours for pick up. Christy reassured us (like many times before) that everything was taken care of. By the time we got home, not only was our check engine light back on, but we had an infestation of ants in our entire interior. Whatever you do, stay away from this place at all costs. read more

I checked online for a particular truck, went and seen them, sales guy was nice enough. Told them what I was looking for. They proceeded to ask questions, first big red flag they said the price online is plus the wheels and tires that are on the truck.. $3000 for some stock sized black wheels and Chinese tires... anyways no biggie truck was to much anyway so they showed me another truck. Again this truck was plus $1500 because they put new tires on it.. What a joke really, website says below market price then they add tires all the above. Come on people why not put the actual price on the website?? Ok then we agree on a truck work out a price it's 12:15 now I had been there since 9am. I tell them again, I have a previous appointment I have to make it will only take an hour and I'll be back. What do they do my sales guy goes and talks to his boss then another sales guy comes and asks why I have to leave, I tell him I have a previous appointment that I can not miss. So 3hr in these guys won't let me leave for 1 hour without leaving them a $500 deposit, said they have to many people wanting it and can't hold it... -- I should have left then!!! I said so if everything goes through this works towards the money I was putting down anyway. I come back ready to do paperwork and I call my insurance Company, this truck was going to cost $1000 a month in insurance alone. Can't do it and lost $500. Moral of the story, read reviews go to a decent dealership. Not money hungry thieves. Hope my $500 paid your light bill, or better yet bought your cheep ass Chinese tires that you can mark up 80%. DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM HERE. I bought a used Kia Sorrento 2016 for $17,000 the first week of July. Its now September 11th and I've 1. had to have the knob replaced on my radio (was supposed to be fixed before I picked up the car 4 days after purchasing and was not) 2. my sun roof fixed (was sticking and wouldn't close sometimes) 3. my trunk door constantly gets stuck and will start automatically closing while putting things inside. 4. my entire AC system is backed up and my passenger side is SOAKED. (this problem was obviously existing due to the LARGE amount that has pooled under my floor boards). I am scared to see what problems will reveal themselves in the coming weeks. We are taking it to a different shop to be looked at because TLC has had my car in their shop FOUR times since a purchased it and somehow overlooked many problems. also, I drove an hour and a half to their shop when I was supposed to get my A/C knob fixed and waited for almost an hour before they came out and told me they didn't have the part in yet! never called to let me know not to make the drive and let me wait an hour while they gave me a "complimentary car wash". this was AFTER My father had drove the car there the week before for them to look at the A/C and they told him sorry we don't have the part well order it. then they said "well send someone to pick up your car at 10 am when the part comes in" day of, they are an hour late with no phone call. then the man who knocks on my door says "what was the problem with it again?" Later, when he drops it off, I again receive NO phone call and find my car sitting in the drive way later that day UNLOCKED and the key under my door mat. the man who sold me my car even said to my dad (who I had to send because they weren't respecting me as a 23 year old woman) "well it was working fine when they bought it" this was less than 30 days after purchasing! We have YET to hear from a manager at the dealership expressing concern or sympathy. My father has worked in the industry for over 25 years and is appalled at this situation. his words: "DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE" we will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Do not purchase a vehicle from this dealership. Shady sales tactics. I inquired about a vehicle and was told by the internet sales team that it could not be financed because it had been in a wreck. When I went to test drive a different vehicle (one that hadn't been in a wreck) the salesman told me the internet team gave me incorrect information and the car I originally inquired about had NOT been in a wreck. The car looked good and it test drove well, so I bought it. I was not presented with, nor did I sign, a Damage Disclosure Form at the time of purchase. I trusted the salesman. Imagine my surprise when 18 months later when I went to trade the vehicle and was told I would get $5,000.00 less of its value because...you guessed it...the Carfax report showed that it HAD been in an accident with structural damage. I took the car to more than one dealer for appraisal (one of them was a KBB certified dealer) and they both said that with the Carfax report showing structural damage I would not get fair trade value. By, the by, the manager I spoke with at TLC told me the dealership was lying and that the Carfax report didn't mean anything and they were just low balling my trade offer. The customer service I received when I called TLC to find out when they knew about the damage and if it was purchased from an insurance auction was atrocious! I ended up losing my cool because I could barely speak a single sentence without being spoken over. Instead of being silent and listening to my complaints and answering my questions I was met with name calling - I was told I was ignorant and that I was lying. Helpful tip TLC - When customers are upset or have a complaint sometimes all it takes to appease them is to be heard, have some empathy, and say I'm sorry. Instead I'm pissed and writing a yelp review! Don't believe the glowing reviews/commercials that the Rise Guys do for this road side trap - keep in mind they are being paid to say it's a great place. I like the car I purchased but why the F__K did you guys match me with WACK A-- WESTLAKE FINANCIAL?! You guys should do your research on SH-TY financial companies before you recommend. It's not all about money when you have unhappy customers in the end. I only gave 5 stars because the rep I had was a prettt straight forward cool guy. But I did have to wait for like 5hours for them to finish up with the car after I signed the paperwork. Luckily I'm not impatient so I won't go farther with that. I will say that I was told I had 3 days/250miles to swap the vehicle if I didn't like it and I called back and someone else told me it was 7 days/200miles I could bring he car back and swap. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Came here after looking at a car online for $8000. Got there and the car had scratches and dents not shown in photos. Test drove it and I liked it but they had $10000 on the window and I brought it up so they charged me the $8000. Now this is where I messed up. I did not test the radio because I didn't think it would be out of order but low and behold it was. Drove it off the lot and went to put gas in next door found out the radio was completely toast. Called them back they said bring it in the next day they'll check it out. At this point I also found out the cars sync system didn't work at all and neither did any of the usb / car charger ports. Brought it back the next day and some dude that looked like a crack head was messing with the radio. Also broke my glovebox but anyways. He couldn't fix it of course so they told me to take it to ford for a diagnostic and they'd pay. Turns out the radio was completely not salvageable and would have to pay $900 to ford for the new factory radio and replacement. I told them this and they said they would only pay for the diagnostic fee and wouldn't be paying for the radio as it wasn't their responsibility. At this point I'm livid. I ended up buying and installing an aftermarket radio myself. Fast ford a few weeks and I've noticed my car makes horrible noises and is super bumpy when going over the slightest bump in the road. I tell them and they tell me to bring it to their mechanic shop down the road. I do and they take it out for a test drive and tell me nothing is wrong of course. Right after this we moved states and I brought my car to a mechanic who told me my struts and brakes were well beyond repair so I had to pay $900 to replace those as well. Also found out shortly after buying my car there's a huge hole in the carpet under the floor mat on the drivers side and my car used to be an auto zone fleet car. This was my first purchase of a car from a dealership and only chose a used car lot because I had bad credit at the time and wanted to fix it. In retrospect I should have looked at other cars instead of settling for a car that had issues I'm sure they were aware of before the sale but once I signed the dotted line they weren't legally liable anymore. Please when you make a car purchase inspect EVERYTHING in the car every inch of it and avoid this place like the plague as you can find a much nicer car for a better price somewhere else. I absolutely regret my car purchase and if I could go back I would have chosen somewhere else and did a more thorough inspection of the car but at the end of the day these guys are sleezy just trying to make a buck off of people not suspecting them of selling cars with issues. read more

TLC Motors sold us a car we could not drive off the lot. We test drove the car, no problems. Paid. Then once we get ready to leave, they once inform us that the coolant reservoir is leaking and the car is overheating, so we will not be able to drive it off the lot. They said it would need to be towed for repairs. Apparently the softball sized hole in the reservoir occurred on their quarter mile drive to the gas station. They'll tell you anything to sell a car. EDIT: Oh sorry guys. Apparently they sell "As Is" cars that they will not allow you to drive off the property. As Is or not, we were not allowed to leave with the car. The damage occurred AFTER we had paid. It was wasn't able to be driven AFTER we paid. Cash car or not, you shouldn't let someone pay for a car then not let the purchaser leave with it. I wasn't able to leave with the car and have it reviewed by my own mechanic. If you didn't need to sell that car because you "sell 100's" then you wouldn't have such SLEAZY business practices. read more

FRAUD ALERT! RUN AWAY (DON'T WALK)! THEY WILL LIE TO YOU TO SELL AN UNSAFE VEHICLE! I wish I could give 5 negative stars! We bought a 2007 SUV in Dec 2017 with only 67k miles. It seemed pretty nice. They showed us a car history report that showed no accidents or major concerns and mentioned it was a recent trade-in. So ok. Unfortunately, it was dark when we were there and I forgot to check the tire tread. ‍ Within a week, we had to buy all new tires because the tread was below the legal limit and it was going to be icy. THEY SHOULD'VE NEVER EVEN LET ANYONE TEST DRIVE IT WITH SUCH CRAPPY TIRES! But I chalked it up to my own oversight and just bought a set without complaining.‍ Fast forward to this weekend. We went to trade it in elsewhere, expecting to probably break even. The new dealer showed us an actual CarFax report that showed it had not only been in an accident and fixed years ago, but has a BENT FRAME! Those jerks outright LIED to us! MULTIPLE TIMES! Oh, and they bought it from an auction (not a trade-in) AFTER the "structural damage" was reported...so THEY KNEW! Since absolutely NO ONE wants a vehicle with a BENT FRAME for market price, we were OVER $6,000 upside down on it! Bottom line, don't waste your time trying to get a fair deal from these crooks. This is the first time I have ever left a bad review for an auto dealership on Yelp, but I'm hoping it will help people from having a horrible experience. In my life, I have never had such an awful experience! I tried to buy car from them starting on a Thursday with the first discussion and kept getting the run around. I am extremely busy, like many of us are, and I was told that yes, we had a deal but the car was not in their lot but rather was being loaned out. Fine, but let's move forward b/c if you're really not really going to make a deal, I need to move forward with another car. This was Friday morning. I was presented with excuses which was frustrating and on Tuesday, still nothing except when I would text or message the sales person. I work in customer service, and if you're selling something, you take good care of the customer and keep them in communication even if it is just to let them know what is going on and that they haven't forgotten about you. Unless I called or texted him, I would hear nothing. Finally, I texted him that this has been an awful experience and ended up calling him wherein he proceeded to yell at me (I never raised my voice) and told me I was selfish b/c I didn't care that this situation was stressful for him too. I tried to explain in customer service, the customer is not supposed to take care of the salesperson but the other way around. Whenever I would start to talk, he would interrupt me and run over top of me talking extremely fast. I just wanted to buy the car and get it over, yet I was instead insulted about how I'm selfish b/c I wanted to get the car right away and didn't care about how he felt. Which honestly, I just wanted to buy the car and get it over- not have it drag on for a week. He made me feel so bad yelling at me that it made me cry! What kind of customer service is that. And if your customer is frustrated, the first step is to listen and understand. I had told him I would take the car, he said that he was going to get less commission to make the deal happen b/c I asked for a couple hundred off since there was this "etching fee of $300" which I didn't care to have it etched. I was ready to pay for it immediately. I was an easy customer, just doing it over the phone and said I would take the car- no kicking tires around the lot, but just "sell me the car"- doesn't get much easier. Yet, how awful did this turn out. I suggest to the owners that they invest in customer service seminars and books for their sales people. Making customers frustrated and horrible is not good business practice. And yes, I realize that there are horrible customers out there too, but kill them kindness works way better than yelling at them and talking fast over top of them. Care about your customers and the sales will follow- and caring means lots of communication that should be kind and understanding. And NOTE on the other negative reviews here that their communication is definitely an issue and I found it interesting that instead of being understanding and caring about the bad reviews, they just became defensive! read more

My daughter bought a Jeep from TLC in March. They say they inspect their cars but I have a hard time believing this. My daughter loved the Jeep and when we test drove it it seemed fine. Well, fast forward to driving off the lot.... the radio did not work, the key did not work in the drivers side door, there were live exposed wires under the passenger seat ( one of my daughters friends found out they were live because they got shocked by them). Called back the next day and they did tell us to take it to unique audio which fixed the radio and the live wires. The key however has taken 2 months to get taken care of. The Jeep also started making a terrible ticking noise when the doors were opened. I called their shop multiple times to set up a time for me to take it in and never got an answer. Then I called to speak to a manager and was spoken very rudely to by both management people that I spoke to. I was finally told to bring the jeep in to the main dealership and they would get it to the shop. I took it to the dealership on a Monday evening and it never made it to the shop until Wednesday. I had told them my daughter was leaving on that Thursday to go to the beach. While we were on our way to take the jeep to the dealership on that Monday, it ran just a little bit hot not extremely hot and I let them know this. It sat at the dealership waiting for the key person to come and make the key or that was their reasoning before they sent it to the shop. They sent it to the shop on Wednesday. They then let me know that it had a blown head gasket and was misfiring. Before all this, my daughter had taken it because the check engine light came on and one of the management team said they would just reset the system and not check anything. Well, the check engine light never came on, so I'm not real sure it was misfiring. And I really don't understand how it could have a blown head gasket when it didn't run that hot and then only did it one time. So now I'm in the process of getting it towed to the Jeep dealership so they can look at it and let me know what is actually wrong with it and fix it themselves. If you are in the market for a used car, please do not buy it from TLC. They will give you the run around if anything goes wrong and treat you like crap, especially if you are a female. Sandy and Mike are the nicest people I have spoken to at this place. Also, when they get tired of talking to you and know they are in the wrong, they get the girls that answer the phone to screen the calls and tell you they're not there so they don't have to talk to you. Wife purchased a car was told the extended warranty would only add about 2.00 to her monthly payment, so she added it. Had a charge discovered when she got home for 299.00 listed as OTHER. They got her an interest rate of 12%. she went to the credit union for a better rate They informed her they could get the same warranty for 1500.00 and it added 50.00 to her payment not 2.00. She called to cancel the warranty and asked about the 299.00 charge for other. She was told it was a theft policy or something never got a straight answer. She informed them she wanted to cancel both according to SC law you have 3 days to do this. They informed her that someone would call her back and get some more info and complete this for her. Never a call from them. she tried several times to call and left several messages no response. I guess they have caller ID and use it. They made an enjoyable experience bad. DO NOT BUY a car or a sandwich for that matter from these people. I JUST BOUGHT a 2015 Acura ILX from here in August. All four of the tires are bad on the car. (As it was sold to me)Drove back to the dealership for a resolution about 4xs (because of communication on their end) before eventually receiving a "we owe you" check. Ok fine. Thanks I guess. Secondly, the CHECK EMISSIONS light came on 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. I notified the person who sold me the car. I should have notified management. This past weekend (12/14) I drove BACK to the dealership from my home in GREENSBORO for the check light issue to be fixed. Only for it to come back on later the next day. This dealership is FRAUDULENT, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and is only about a dollar. Spare yourself the inconvenience and money out of your own pocket. I DEEPLY REGRET TRUSTING TLC. Unprofessional and inconsiderate. I called Saturday morning to make sure the vehicle I was interested in was still available. The man I spoke to said he was with someone but would call me back in 10 minutes. After 45 minutes with no return call, I called back again. I spoke to Christian, who checked to see if the vehicle was available, and said it was. I told him I was driving pretty far (50 miles), that I was pre-qualified for financing, that I wanted to purchase the vehicle, and wanted to be certain the vehicle would be available if I drove that far. He said no problem, come on down. I told him I would be there in an hour and a half. I drove the 50 miles and arrived an hour and a half later, and they were in the process of selling the vehicle. But it's not even that, Christian could have cared less. No apology, just "I don't know what to tell you." I reminded him how far I had driven to get there and that just an hour and a half before he had assured me the vehicle was available. He said "We have a deposit program," which he at no time did he mention when I had called earlier, or I would have put a deposit down. I asked him why he couldn't have just held it till Noon when I told him I would be there, he said people say all the time they are coming and don't. I reminded him that I had told him earlier that I was pre-approved, which should have been an indication I was serious. Again "I don't know what to tell you." Christian is very cold and inconsiderate. Will not be back to this awful, unprofessional place. read more
