The ladies at the front desk had me checked in within record time. Because I had already completed my paperwork, things went smoothly. I was then ushered to a large, lovely seating area, where many other patients were waiting. The office is massive, containing several doctors, as well as a vision center to pick out eyewear and procedure rooms. My technician and doctor were absolutely wonderful. Initially, the tech took a thorough history and did some tests. She was very pleasant, moved with intention, but not rushed. She was communicative, but not chatty (IYKYK), and had me very impressed. I was well-handled and wondered what was left for anyone else to do. Lol When the doctor arrived, he was even more thorough than the technician. He double-checked her work, then began a discussion with me about my eyes and their health. He did some more evaluation and put me at ease. I remember thinking, "This place is amazing!" At the end, he gave me advice and then said, "That's it," with the most amazingly warm smile I had seen in a while. It was genuine and read like he really enjoyed his job. I mean, WOW. That did it for me, folks. I had already been impressed by the place, but the smile sold me on GO. I am a patient for life! Greensboro Ophthalmology is officially Kiesha Speech approved. After 2-3 minutes, I was called & then asked to sit down again so my insurance could be confirmed. It was eventually confirmed, and though my appointment time was at 10:40 and I arrived at 10:30, I was finally called back for intake about 30 minutes after my arrival. A young woman performed some initial tests & asked me a few questions. She checked my eyes and then led me to a waiting area where I waited for what felt like a VERY long time. I was brought back to a room by another young woman who ran a couple more tests, then led me to a different waiting area. I waited there for probably 20 minutes. Then I finally got to see the doctor, over an hour and 20 minutes after my appointment time. The doctor was helpful and gave me some suggestions about my contact options and information about my eye health. I feel her quality of care was very thorough. However, I was left waiting for 10 minutes or so for her to return after asking me to put in a new pair of contacts. When it was time to leave, I was asked to sit in the waiting area so I could be called to the front desk to pay. It's clear this clinic is understaffed for the amount of clients they have. However, I will return next year for my next eye exam since they take my insurance and they're not far from my home.

The whole staff was great. Check in girl that helped me was super sweet, she was sitting in the middle stall I think with red hair. I saw Albert their PA. He was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable and talked to me in layman terms so no confusion with big medical words!! I unfortunately ended up needing glasses and was given eye drops but I am so grateful I'll be able to see soon haha! I'll be coming back for follow ups when need be!

Medicare patients BEWARE!!!…read more When the person from Groat called me to schedule an appointment, (I never contacted THEM) I told them I had a perfect experience with Oscar Oglethorpe over a year earlier who assured me medicare would pay for everything in terms of my eye exam and it was true, medicare did. The person who set me appointment with Groat assured me that Medicare would pay for everything. I asked are you sure? They said "absolutely." So I went along with it. When I showed up for the appointment I asked the receptionist, "Will Medicare pay for everything?" I was told yes they would. When I saw the first person in the exam room I said, "Don't do anything Medicare won't pay for." Then a few weeks later I get a bill from Groat for $166.00!! To top it off the prescription wasn't complete so I couldn't use it to get glasses! Very untrustworthy!

Digby Eye Associates has essentially turned into a production facility, and the optical care has suffered as a result. My last two times there, I had to return for a second set of exams because the first prescription was incorrect. There is also an on-site optical services, and their prices are exorbitant. I paid $400 for glass frames that cost $175 at Costco.

Adding the wait time, which was minimal, and actually being seen I was only at Hecker for 60 minutes. I saw Dr Jones and she could not have been nicer. They explained the procedure and results with me in a timely manner. I don't think I waited in each exam area for more than 5 mins. Yes, you are "shuffled" from room to room but that is because each room serves a different purpose. One was a dark room to scan the retina, other had the large equipment to evaluate your vision, and the last was the doctor's office to talk about the results. At least this was my experience. Yes, the decor is out dated. But my other optometrist had beautiful, trendy furniture but that doesn't mean I want to sit on it for 3 hours. I would trade wallpaper for service any day. I'm happy with my choice of switching offices and would recommend their services to anyone who ask.

I have noticed a wait, but I also notice it seems the length of our appointments vary as to how much they have to check "does 1 or 2 look better". So I kind of figured that is why there is a wait. When I do have questions, he answers them respectfully. Over the years I've had to call several times to get copies of prescriptions and no issues from the front desk in getting that. I haven't had any scheduling issues. I don't use the eye center next to their office, so I can't speak to how they are.

Well, last year I went back to Dr Spencer for a service he did NOT render. I made an appointment with Dr Spencer for a contact prescription and I was very specific. My son wore contacts in, it wasn't until I went to fill the prescription that I was told it was for glasses. This year, I made another appointment specifying once again CONTACTS because the last was incorrect. The day of the appointment of course he walks in and doesn't speak, starts the exam, mumbling. I allow him to do what he needs and how, he is the doctor. I did mention, this is for a contact exam. He then became a bit rude. Stressing the $75 Medicaid would NOT cover I responded that is fine. He then went on to tell me Medicaid will NOT pay for his contacts! YOU will have to figure that out. Ok, l responded. He then tells my son to go sit next to me and says.. YOU will pay $75 and go to MY people across the hall and be fitted.. then you will come back to me 2 more visits, I will check his eyes again.. at that point I will decide whether or not "|" will write a prescription. I asked if this is not his first pair and he has been wearing them for several years now, why is he being treated as a first time lens wearer. He then asked where I got the first prescription and I advised UNC and he asked abt the others, I responded UNC..he asked where l purchased my lenses and I told him...l then asked, with this procedure, how long does the actual process take before he will receive his lenses and the DOCTOR MICHAEL ANTONIO SPENCER responded "As long as it does" | asked again is it days? Weeks? He then goes on a rampage about how he doesn't have anything to do with contacts..... l added however, you are sending me to a place you said was the only place i could go. He then says to me, the man that never speaks, yet, in front of my child can yell "GET OUT! I DONT NEED YOUR MONEY!" And he stormed out of the office standing outside of the door pouting. What a tantrum to throw because he feels he takes every insurance so he can speak to parents in front of their children that way or even act so strangely. This is NOT a safe place for children! Clearly there have been some changes. As for wait times, for a full exam my waits have been about 2 hours. I just bring water and snacks and a kindle so I can enlarge the print and read while I wait to see the doctor. The wait can be unpredictable because they work in patients that have sudden problems. As an AMD patient, I appreciate that!

They also want your photo ID to scan into their computer... just refuse both the ID and the SS#. They are not necessary and it is becoming best practices for them not to ask for it.

Second time in at 10a and 20 minute surgery was at 1pm. Surgeon did not have to take a long time with any one patient because I counted at least 6 people who went into surgery ahead of me. Why not just have me come in at noon? By time they got to me they were talking about having missed lunch as if my surgery was unimportant. Waste of my time and the time of the person who brought me.
