Total nightmare. We received our home May 2015. This house has been a total nightmare ever since…read more They sent someone to fix it Sept. 2016 and the house continues to fall apart. The roof, the walls, the floors, the doors, the windows, the siding, the electric, little installation etc... I feel like breaking down. This house is a hazard. We thought since the house was built in a factory that there would be some quality control. There cannot be any real inspectors in NC and SC because this house should never passed inspection. This is truly sad what this company does to their customers. Our next step is legal action.

I am building a single family modular house in Taylorsville (Alexander County) My sales agent for…read moreChampion Homes was JW Construction, and they have put another company (Endeavour Homes) on the building permit as the general contractor without my knowledge or consent. Now they have removed themselves from the permit. Gave them 34k downpayment (total cost 225k) in July. Waited for a long time to get anything started. They didn't do the grading before the footing as contracted, instead they hired a sub to dig the footing before the grading was done. They didn't get it inspected before pouring, just poured it, no soil bearing test performed. They didn't make it to the foundation plans and omitted rebar the plans are calling for. Then they paid for the building permit afterwards and hired a shady engineer to certify the footing- the engineer never looked at it but certified it "to plans" anyway in a single sentence letter. The company on the engineers letterhead was dissolved by the state in 2008 and doesn't exist. I hired my own, real engineering team ($ 700 out of pocket) who came out and looked at the footing and wrote a 3 page report - certifying that it's not to plans . I terminated JW because of their conduct. Now they are refusing a refund. I had made out a large portion of the deposit to Champion Homes, the modular house company who produced the house, in an effort to avoid potential dishonesty by JW. This didn't help me, Champion Homes took my check made out to them but instead of delivering the house to my building site as agreed they delivered the house to JW's lot. JW has paid Champion Homes the balance on the house and perhaps plans on keeping it or re-selling it, defrauding me out of my deposit. They are unresponsive and not communicating with me. I wrote them a certified letter, no response. Interestingly, their lot has many other homes sitting on it. I'm out my deposit and have only a (bad) footing. Another sales agent for Champion Homes offered to take over the deal but JW refused. The other sales agent said I have been overcharged for the house and they would do it for 11k less. Hired an attorney (more money out of pocket) to sue JW Construction.
