Fenwick as a brand has 8 locations across the country and was founded here in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This location is their flagship. The store has entrances on street level (Northumberland Street) as well as entrances from the mall. The store is open until 7 pm on most days, although opening hours can vary, this means they're generally open an hour later than John Lewis, which is the mall's other main department store. The store is fairly attractive, with modern and older parts and the selection again is reasonable. The renovation is starting to show which is ongoing to celebrate the store's 140th anniversary. The Food Hall area reminded me a little of a smaller version of Harrods, pricey for sure but they had a variety of items appearing to be high-quality, including some meats which looked of a fantastic quality. I much prefer the technology section at John Lewis nearby, however - although Fenwick for sure wins on the Food Hall side of things. 4*

I bought a magimix food processor, it wasn't a straight forward sale as I had to take it abroad. Lindsey and Helen really bent over backwards to help me find the right size, the colour I wanted, to wrap it well to take it on a plane ..... They couldn't have been nicer. A real pleasure in doing business with sales staff like that and they definitely make you want to shop at the store again.

It was known as intu Eldon Square between 2013 and 2020 but following the collapse of intu, it has returned to its original name of Eldon Square. At the time of writing, Eldon Square is the 15th largest shopping centre in the country in terms of retail size, there is a much larger shopping centre, Metrocentre around a 10-15 minute drive away, but despite being smaller, I prefer Eldon Square, I still think the mall is a good size and it just seemed to have a better atmosphere, being in the city centre too rather than a soulless out of town mall. The mall has a great number of stores and brands including anchor retailers Fenwick, John Lewis and Marks and Spencer. Other brands located here include Apple, Boots, H&M, Next, Rituals and the major mobile phone/telecommunications networks. For food and drink, you have the likes of Starbucks, Nando's, Pizza Express, Ask Italian, Wagamama and TGI Fridays. The mall staff were friendly, and while there wasn't really anyone dotted around the mall, the help desk was easily to find so I could seek assistance finding a store. The layout of the mall is a little confusing and I think makes it seem bigger than it actually is - it can be quite a trek from the Bus Station to the Apple end of the mall. I do think the stores do shut a little early for the centre of a big city, between Monday and Saturday, the mall shuts at 7 pm, with some stores shutting as early as 6 pm including John Lewis. Thursday is an exception, where all stores tend to remain open until 8 pm, and Sunday is bound by Sunday trading laws so there's not much they can do there. 4* -

CONSUMER ALERT!! CONSUMER ALERT!!!…read more Unfortunately, Jules B has an ongoing and long term pattern of highly disconcerting and deceptive business practices. Sadly, (and per multiple online consumer reviews), numerous customers have been victim to Jules B's unprofessional, unacceptable, and unlawful merchant actions inclusive of their failure to issue rightful refunds and/or ensure delivery and receipt of purchased merchandise. Moreover, it appears that Jules B continues to demonstrate non-compliance with nationally and E Commerce designated policies and protocols specific to seller actions and consumer rights as well as a lack of "accountability" for shipment related issues and non-receipt of goods. Further, shipment and delivery related issues are the seller / sender's onus (not receiver's) whether in a customs setting, other shipment environment, or postal facility. Therefore, consumers are at risk for a problematic transaction with Jules B due to their disconcerting business practices, non-compliance with nationally designated and E Commerce seller policies, lack of merchant accountability, honesty, and integrity, and violation of consumer rights. Victims of Jules B unscrupulous actions and/or refusal to issue a rightful refund or take ownership for an undelivered shipment can initiate a refund request via their credit card company. USA based customers can also submit a consumer rights violation complaint to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). (REFER TO ATTACHED PHOTO FOR JULES B RESPONSE TO MY COMMENTS) (4-26-23) Response to Jules B comments: Jules B disingenuous reply depicts their company's ongoing failure to take merchant responsibility for customer related issues inclusive of inquiring about significantly delayed delivery of a package allegedly going through a customs process. Furthermore, I was informed by a customs representative that it is the seller / sender's onus (not receiver) to initiate an inquiry into a problematic or delayed customs clearance. Additionally, the customs agent indicated that the package may have incomplete or missing merchant paperwork, a non-legible shipping label that was damaged in transit, and/or was lost in their system. Unfortunately, following my request to investigate this matter, Jules B refused to do so nor ensure the delivery of my order. Hence, Jules B's comment that there's nothing they can do while the package is in customs depicts their ongoing manipulative pattern of avoiding seller responsibility, unethical and unacceptable business practices, unsatisfactory customer service, and violation of consumer rights! Thus, I have escalated this matter to my credit card company and requested a full refund due to Jules B egregious actions and my continuing non-receipt of purchased merchandise.
