This the worst nail shop I ever visited. It's dirty & cramped. Had the nerve to be having a staff meeting on a Friday in the middle of the day in this already shoebox of a nail shop. I stopped here for a fill-in. The guy cut me multiple times with his drill and never even apologized. Painted my skin, gel polish clumped at the bed of each nail, like this had to be his first day doing nails. They have the nerve to charge for files & buffs and 4% feet on credit card transactions in 2025. RUN far away from this place QUICKLY. read more

This salon loves to lie about how much time you have to wait and will never call you back to come and get your nails done. They claim they close at seven. I put my name on the list at three and was told I'd have to wait 45 minutes. I come back an hour later and they said I have another hour which is not what I was told. Now it's five o'clock and they call me saying they may not be able to get to me because they want to leave at six. I'm not one to make those in the customer service industry's lives difficult bc I understand what it's like to be part of a business, but I paid a lot of money n waited a long time (2+ hours!) for this service and their unwillingness to cooperate and just wanting to get me out the door is extremely unprofessional with no accountability on their part or the willingness to accept criticism (clearly from their review replies) n not at all what I expected from them. Apart from them not taking appointments and forcing ppl to wait at their beck and call at this cramped nail salon, I used to come here a lot pre-covid and it was usually a good outcome for my nails n I never had a problem with their service until now. This is my first time ever getting serviced by Dee and I had set expectations because she is the owner of the salon and everyone else (who were already skillful in my book) said that she did it best. I asked for a design that frankly wasn't hard if Dee had just slowed down enough to be a little invested in me as her client. I was her last client of the night, but the whole time she was doing my nails she wasn't paying full attention to what she was doing to my nails which I don't appreciate especially sitting next to the other nail tech, Darren (her husband) who was attentively working on his own client: Asking questions, making sure he was doing what the client wanted. The moment her file or drill made contact with my nail she looked up and talked about everything else going on in the store. I'm not a fussy person so I let that go, I get that she owned the place and had to manage. She looked stressed and I'm not judging based off of that. However, it resulted in misshapen and crooked nails, some I couldn't help but ask her to fix. She did that and that was nice, but in the end the design didn't look the nearly way it was supposed to. The nails themselves were bulky and leaned off to one side. Let me just say that as my nail tech, I'm not supposed to know the logistics of producing nice nails. That is your job as my nail tech. If it's something you know you cannot do, then tell me so I don't keep wasting my time and hard earned money and go elsewhere or ask for a different "easier" design! The cherry on top of the botched design was her attempt to fill in what design she had drilled away, LAZILY, with polish. She couldn't ask me if I at least wanted it covered up any specific way? By the time we got done it was 9pm (could've been quicker if she wasn't half-assing it, let's be real) so I paid, left and then examined my nails in detail. The polish on top that she used to cover up just ruined what could have been a salvageable design. I called and asked to get it fixed by Darren the next morning because I knew he was able to do so, but when I got there I was met with hostility that I didn't come with at all. I told them I wasn't trying to make their lives difficult. I just wanted to be not embarrassed by my nails. While what I mostly had a problem with was the design, the shape and everything else were a problem too BUT I was willing to overlook most of it if they were to meet me halfway and they just didn't want to. What a horrible way to treat a returning client! They basically said that I was too picky of a client and no one there would be able to make me happy and that even I didn't know what I wanted (yo what?), which is absolutely untrue. I knew what I wanted and y'all messed up! All I ended up asking for was to hide the polish she added with another one on top and still keep the design she had made. Literally takes no more than polish and a few strips of tape, but Darren said for them to do that they'd charge me extra. For what! I didn't paint them and messed them up! He basically just shut me up by saying he'll refund me $20 for the design (cause clearly they didn't make any sense charging me for their shortcomings) n since they feel that they just don't know how to do nails with standards (also a horrible excuse), y'all lost a customer. I've hopped around nail salons and always been unsatisfied with the quality of work, even when I get a simple nail style. Tj Nails has never let me down with how my nails look, and they will always accommodate if you don't like something. From matching a photo I find to giving me the exact nail shape I want, it's always beyond exceptional work. Tommy, D, and Darren are the only people I've gone to, and are the most humble, hard working and friendly nail technicians. I'd say the biggest issue with coming here is the wait. It's always crowded and the salon is pretty small. You can't set appointments and you're serviced by writing your name on a sheet. I don't think they go in order, they determine when you go by what service you're getting which can be very frustrating. However, my nails always come out flawless. The price isn't too bad. I paid $50 for a powder full set and acrylic take off. They do better than any at home nail tech I've been to so I would keep going. read more

I am currently a senior in college, I have been going to T.J nails since my freshmen year. The place does great work. However, the owner and some of the nail techs are very rude. I went to the nail salon on Oct 8th at 10:00 am and had the worst experience of my life that I have every had at a nail salon. The cops were called on me. This all started because I had my headphones in. The owner who was doing my nails at the time harassed me and try to push me get a " nasty attitude". While having my headphones in he asked me 4 different times was I having a bad day. After responding to him no. He still countuied to ask me why was I hostile ( maybe because I am African American female we seem hostile). I then replied no I just do not feel like engaging that is why I have my headphones in. Even though I was annoyed because he kept trying to make it seem like I had an attitude I remained calmed. He then got loud and said "I am not finishing your nails leave the shop" he had already put acrylic on my one had , and had my other hand with a nail bed that open flesh because he was repairing. I nicely asked him to finish my other please because I was scared of an affection. He still was rude. After leaving the nail salon I decided to get on my personal Twitter and tell my followers about my experience. I use to tell them about the good ones why not also the bad. Later that night one of the nail techs mentioned me calling me broke. The nail techs are talented however the customer service is bad. Once I put on Twitter what had happend, many people told me about how the owner has been rude to them. #BadBusinessGetBadReviews. #SupportBlackOwnedShops. Go here! I don't live in NC. I was here for a short time visiting family. I needed to relax and decided to pamper myself. Firstly I called and she accepted right away. She said it was a little wait but that she'd get me into a pedi immediately, which was great. Such a good pedi! I got the deluxe. Being from another state I was worried that I made a rash decision because my phone was about to die. I had no idea how I was going to get back home. After my toes were done I was asking about possibly leaving to go to the grocery store to get cash and a charger because well I'm an idiot and chose nails over a battery life! Haha. The owner not only allowed me a ONE TIME exception to pay with my card, but she lent me her own charger while then taking care of my nails. She picked up right away that I was nervous and stressed and just was so kind to a total stranger. My toes have never looked so cute. The volcanic pedi is to die for btw. This was the first time I went to get my eyebrows done and felt like I was rushed out! One minute the young lady that was doing my eyebrows (who does great work by the way) was happy engaging in good conversation and the next she was finished. Had no idea she was done because what she regularly does was not done. Not sure if they are making them spend less time on clients to get to the next client. If this is the case that is very bad business. You will lose customers like that. I always enjoyed the conversations I would have with the techs.
