Every visit, she takes her time, listens, and makes sure my hair looks and feels its best. And her scalp massage during the shampoo? The absolute best, so relaxing and honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole experience. Melissa is caring, professional, and genuinely wants the best for her clients. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. If you're looking for someone who truly knows her craft and cares about her clients, I can't recommend her enough!

I have been going to Mackenzie hair parlor for the last two years after I moved to the area and I…read moream blown away by the level of service and attention to detail. There's a lot of "chain" options in the area - Mario TRICOCI and to some extent Jeffrey lamorte but the attention I get and the knowledge shared by the stylists is truly unparalleled. I've seen Carolyn, Julia, and Kay and each has brought their true A game. Carolyn is the business owner and you can tell she creates an environment where her stylists are respected and respectful of each other! I mean how many salon chairs have you sat in and observed petty fighting? I've always been so relaxed and honestly enjoyed my time there chatting in the intimate and beautifully designed space. Its aesthetic is truly precious and perfect for downtown Frankfort. Carolyn was so excited to have me see Julia, a newer stylist and holy cow she did not lead me wrong! I have hand tied extensions installed by Julia and honestly I feel like a goddess. The waves and styling after the installation were perfection. Kay has also done an installation for me and I never felt more confident as when I walked out of the salon. I asked for kacey musgraves and while they couldn't replace my vocal cords, they could give me her hair so I could pretend As a city expat, I was worried when I moved to the burbs that I'd miss out on the "latest and greatest" in hairstyle fashion, but Carolyn and her team could be easily transplanted to a high end salon in the most cosmopolitan of cities. If you want Kate gosselin, I mean I'm sure they'd do it for you if you asked lol but trust you will not unintentionally walk out renamed Karen. Lastly I've been going pre and post covid, I've felt that the precautions they've been taking to make me feel safe are more than adequate and I am very conservative in terms of the places I'm willing to go. So if you want to support a small business, get some nice relaxation, and feel like the stylists are just as excited as you are for your new look, Mackenzie hair parlor is def the place for you.

I moved to Houston and couldn't get the same service or the same hair color anymore, always missing her. Now that I've moved back to Chicago, I didn't hesitate to reach out to her at her new salon. However, this time the work wasn't as good as I expected, and the charges weren't proportional to what was actually done. They did a partial highlight and toner, but no root touch-up, haircut, or blow-dry. I'm very disappointed with the work done.

I'm always pleased with the final product (cut & color). My stylist, and the staff, are always friendly, patient, and professional. It's nice that they offer beverages and snacks while you are getting your hair done, as we know it can take a couple of hours to get our hair done depending on the type of services. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is that some of the parking lot now has a no parking zone leaving limited space. But, I know that is out of the salon's control.
