The path is mostly dirt with some wooden plank sections and walkways along the way. There are a few benches along the path. There is some seating toward the back (Hudson River) of the lighthouse. There is a parking lot with space for about 10 cars on the main road (Lighthouse Road). There were only about 3 cars there when I visited on a lovely Saturday afternoon in the fall. It's a short and easy hike to the lighthouse, and the walk there is beautiful, especially with the river nearby. Once you reach the lighthouse, it's absolutely amazing! Make sure to take plenty of photos because there are so many beautiful views and photo opportunities along the way! There's also a small area where you can enjoy a nice lunch or have a picnic with friends or family. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a great mix of nature, history, and peaceful scenery!

It is the quietest site I ever visited. When you get there, after you park, there's no one anywhere to let you know where to go and what to do. We got there on a day where there were another 9 people roaming around and 3 of them took the mansion tour with us. An older couple was having a picnic, a young lady was walking around by herself and another couple was walking all over the place, creeping out in the mansions windows. The tour guide was well informed so he went on with the story of the place like he was teaching a history class. It was informative a thorough. To visit the inside of the house it will cost you $10 in cash, a person. We have a membership so we didn't have to pay. The tour takes about an hour and you will only tour the first floor. The basement, the second and the third floor are closed to the public. I do recommend you to visit this site if you want to know more of the history of the area.

Essentially, a man named Harvey Fite single-handledly took over 60 acres of Saugerties and built a giant bluestone sculpture in the center of it. The beauty of the walls, the paths, the pools...it's worth checking out. The scale is incredible when you realize one man did it all himself, including hoisting the 14 foot, 9 ton stone he called FLAME in the center. Opus 40 hosts concerts, nature talks and walks, events, and more at this beautiful, serene space, so check those out. And if you're more inclined, just do what my mom and her friends do often (what I've only done once so far), and walk the grounds and take it all in.

A group of us went for the fireworks, that were supposed to be from Saugerties, NY. We arrived midday; to see the re-enactments and enjoy the great weather. There was an ice cream truck and a food truck. They Always had a line. By the time dusk was approaching the crowds started to fill the great lawns facing the Hudson and the city of Saugerties. By 9:15 pm there were a few sporadic flares from the West Bank of the Hudson. By almost 10 pm it was pretty obvious there would not be a fireworks display that night. We've seen plenty of fireworks displays, so for us was NBD. Felt kind of bad for the young families whose kids were probably disappointed.

The gardens were nice and also well maintained, but not fancy - some signs as to the varieties of flowers and plants would be nice. There's several places to the south of the house offering scenic views of the Hudson River, and the Catskills beyond that. Mansion tours were going on while I was there. A sign at the entrance says that paid parking for 2020 began on 6/6, where you pay the fee of $5 at one of the machines at either end of the parking lot. Unfortunately, it's not $5, it's $6 now. Rest rooms are available behind the parking lot, and there's a fairly large area behind it and to the south for sitting, picnics, and light recreation (e.g., folks were throwing frisbees). Dogs are permitted on a leash. Even on a nice day on a weekend, there's plenty of space for everyone. Though I imagine this is a very popular site to visit during fall foliage season.

As the name would suggest, there's a few small waterfalls along both ends of the trail which are pretty and good for kids. Rainfall has been be decent for them to really be going, and even at their heaviest they're not too crazy (this is not Kaaterskill). It's also right on the Hudson River, so you get good views too. If you want just a quick walk or you have a stroller, the way down to the water is the way to go (yes, you still get the obligatory waterfall). If you take the longer path, you get the bigger waterfall, sweeping views of the Hudson, and also steep up/down hills along the water. Either way this should take terribly long and isn't far from civilization, so it's a good option for families.

There were short biographies about the musicians, history of Venezuela before the concert started, mentioning the crisis in Venezuela with requests to help financially. There is an elevator to the upper level, it's not a true balcony in the sense of an overhang above the main floor. Although, the staircase is a gentle climb to the second floor. There's a small concession stand there with soft drinks, wine, snacks, and sandwiches available. The concert had no intermission, it was only about an hour and a half long; no real need for one. I don't remember the individual names of the musicians. It was lively and entertaining; with musicians that have honed their craft. The Quatro (a type of guitar) the player was exceptional; there was no hissing from the strings unless he wanted the effect to enhance a particular song. I didn't think the band leader could get so many sounds from basically a wooden box. The guest trumpeter has the talent to play triple tongue. Something that takes a lot of practice. Overall, a very enjoyable evening. The only Con is - the seats are folding chairs. Not very comfortable.
