Although I wasn't overly thrilled at seeing the inside, but I know it's someplace to return to if all my former sources of Internet have been taken up and I'm in desperate need. The library may look big when viewed from outside, but it's not when you head inside. From the outside, what you are seeing is actually one of three "departments" inside this 2-story building. When you look inside this library, they don't have many computers, and the computers they did have today, were all full of other people. Overall, the remainder of the library wasn't overly crowded, but was awaiting a book-sale presentation about "Mysterious Creatures" in New York State (near Kinderhook, NY more or less). Anywho, when you look around the library, the walkways are not very wide, and are not suitable for any wheelchair accessibility to get through, and the steps leading into this library prove that there is no other accessibility in. (The back entrance is no better.) Even then, the large print books are merged sporadically throughout the library, and mixed into the regular books according to call number. They are marked however, so don't get this review wrong. Personally, if they designated another single section for just these "special" books, they can be better found for those who have trouble seeing. The weirdest thing was there's another bookshelf filled with a few more books across the alleyway that seemed to contain about 50 books I bet the EMPLOYEE'S DON'T EVEN REALISE are over there. Overall, I wouldn't mind going back there when I need a place just to read, but to actually find a book or empty computer seat to type up documents, you're best off going to other sources.

The Hunter Public Library is a School District Library chartered in 1896. It has a distinct old…read moreworld charm with many of the books we fondly remember. It also has the latest fiction, computers, public wifi, and extensive online resources including materials for college preparation, genealogy studies, and language instruction. The new book section is full of great finds. The library offers English as a Second Language, watercolor classes, story time, and many other special programs. Their kids book section is beautifully arranged. The local paper is always on one of the round wooden tables, and there are lots of magazines to read. The sunlit back room is a great place to do a project and gaze at the Schoharie Creek. You might find a book to keep on booksale days. There's always something of interest such as student and local art displays in the library's two large show windows overlooking Main Street. Check it out!

Due to a fire several years ago, the library recently underwent major renovations and looks brand spanking new. There are two floors full of books and DVDs, and the rooms are bright with lots of light and wooden floors. There were plenty of folks sitting in chairs and reading and also a bunch in a back conference-like room. If you enjoy fishing and ukuleles, you're in luck. Ukuleles are available to borrow, and the Phoenicia Library also has the unique Jerry Bartlett Memorial Angling Collection which is worth checking out, on the second floor. We spoke with a couple of librarians, and they were quite friendly and helpful. There is a bathroom off to the side of the circulation desk. Offering lots of books and activities, if I lived in Phoenicia, I'd be a regular fixture at the library, no doubt.

Although this library is small, it recently got an expansion about one year ago. Although it never…read morehad an elevator, it now has one. It has 2 real floors that all people can visit and use to take out books. It has 3 computers that can connect you to the internet. If you are out of the area and don't have a library card, you can pick up a temporary 30 minute pass to allow you to log-on. One floor is all mostly adult fiction/nonfiction, and the other floor is mostly children. This place does have two entrances though, so plan your time-frame accordingly. You can park as on street parking(not advised to park accross the street, if planning to use computers), or you can park in their 6-7 car parking lot. They now have one public bathroom that most people now know about(across from magazine rack near elevator). If you need to use it, it is always clean and well-maintained by those planning to use it. (It has paper-towels, but no blow-driers.) As for employees at this library, although they have a few paid workers who can help at the main check-out desk, most of their employment staff are volunteers. And when you figure into the equation of the town this library is in, I like this library being that it is close to me and my home. Thanks a lot; Never a problem here.

I told staff that I wanted to check that book out. They inquired as to whether I had a library card. I said that I did but not on my person, but I could tell them my library number, and that I had just not 30 seconds before handed the two books to one of the staff asking for my card. I was then asked if I had a driver's license. I placed the book back on the the shelf and walked out. I have heard that the staff at this library is unfriendly. I won't go back and will go out of my way to avoid it.

I took the elevator down and they just took the group on the stairs and took off without waiting. So I had to leave. I took the issue to admissions and they had nothing to say. If you have any mobility needs don't go here. Nope! Came here for a campus visit and the guide mumbled something and then took the group off at a fast pace, to climb three (or four) flights to the lecture room. Zero access for people with disabilities. I raised with them (as it was not accessible for us) and the first question asked was "did you fill out the form for people with disabilities?" Yes we did. But that is all you got? They say in other reviews that this college is too "woke." How about not woke enough?

Here's a mediocre sized library I like to go to, whenever I'm in town and need a useful library…read more It's got a lot of books(one side being the adult fiction, the other being children's books). Nonfiction isn't prominent at all in this place. It does though, have a wide variety of Internet-connected computers(which I believe, make up for this "missing puzzle-piece"!)(Oh yeah, I almost forgot to tell you, they have over 12 Internet-connected computers, along with 2 non-Internet computers for the kids to use, as you see when you walk through the 2 electric sliding glass doors). If you need to use a restroom, there is one here. If you stand over near the flexible folding wall, you'll notice the edge of the men's room door creeping above(there are two separate rooms). I've found a problem there, make sure to wear only one additional layer of clothing over-top of what would be normal casual wear, as these rooms get awful cool very quickly. Need a drink/sip of water to wet your tongue? Yeah, they got a water-fountain too(over between the two restrooms)! This is one of the only library locations in the area to have a water-fountain available. Water is good and cold, no matter what time of year you sip it! Employees here are well-trained in the processes, and can help with almost anything. You can tell, after a wide variety of times, that they know how to "work" for their money! Between fixing up adding money for using their printer(computer printer) to helping people find books to you-name-it, these employees know their jobs mean more than just being "paid by the hour." As a mere note: This place was the former RENOVATED LOCATION to the former Ponderosa Steakhouse, which had closed down in the 1990s(that could very well be the reason why this place has the water-fountains available). When funding became not such a concern, this library moved from a Morton Blvd location to the current place in the mid-2000s.
