The check was held for a week without being cashed. What business hold a check for that long without submitting it to your bank? The check did not go through and I was charged a $30 non sufficient fund fee. I tried to make my point with young lady who said she was the manager about them holding the check and she said this was a "corporate decision ". I asked her was there a sign in her lobby about the non sufficient fund fee and she said "let me check". She finally said there was a sign in the lobby but I did not believe her. Please stay away from these speedy cash centers because they are inefficient and told end up paying a $30 fee.

I wanted to decline the service, but after spending so much time there and being the last customer, they rushed me to make a decision. The additional 2% they charged cost me an extra $125. I strongly advise against going there, as they illegally charged more than 3% for government-issued checks. Kroger and Walmart are much better alternatives. If Speedy Cash doesn't change their illegal practices, they could be facing a huge class action lawsuit in the future.

I was in the market for a vehicle and looked into various auto loan interest rates. My dad told me about Shell FCU because they advertise it on 740 KTRH (am radio). I called two other credit unions before deciding on Shell FCU. They had the best rates. I looked up the nearest location to the dealership and found this Wilson Rd. branch. I walked right in, checked in with the friendly receptionist and told her I wanted to be a member and apply for an auto loan. You have to live or work in Harris County and open an account (can be as little as $5 for a savings account) to be a member. She asked for two forms of ID which can be your driver's license and a major credit card with your name. She checked me in, and I waited in the waiting area. There's a TV that shows where you are in line. Since I was at the dealership for hours, it was nice to see that they made fresh popcorn. When I was a kid, my parents used to bank somewhere that also served popcorn. It was nostalgic, not to mention, tasty. I think they have popcorn on Fridays. Aside from that, there's a coffee/hot chocolate maker. I came in about 45 minutes before closing. I was not rushed at all. Madison, the Branch Lead, was so personable and patient. She took her time to obtain all the information needed and was thorough to make sure the underwriters reviewing the auto loan information had everything they needed. Since she wasn't going to be in the next day, she had an associate, Luz, who would assist me. After I completed the auto loan, Madison walked me to the teller to make a deposit. The receptionist unlocked the doors for us when leaving. I returned the next day to meet with Luz to finalize the auto loan. Luz answered all my emails in a timely manner in the morning before I got there and also contacted the dealership for additional info on my behalf. She was also friendly and explained to me what the costs would be when I asked about gap and extended warranty. Shell FCU has the best rates. I wish this branch was closer to where I live or the staff worked in the Spring location because all of the staff are friendly and helpful. It was such a seamless process. I would go out of my way off the beltway just for their excellent customer service.
