I've survived nine sessions with Jay Merritt so far, and he is a terrific personal trainer! I can't recommend him strongly enough! Despite his (very) challenging sessions, and my constant sore muscles, I still don't dread the training. Believe me, that's saying a lot! This is because he varies the exercises, and makes them interesting, but it is also because Jay, himself, is an enthusiastic, funny, and genuinely likable person. He frequently takes my mind off the fact that I am sweating buckets and shaking with muscle failure, and then, yeah, maybe I really can push out "just" five more reps after all.
Jay is highly knowledgeable about the mechanics of the human body (because of years of experience and personal interest on his part), and he makes sure to explain the purpose of each exercise he gives me. What I like especially though, is that he listens carefully to my questions, and answers them thoroughly and thoughtfully. He's respectful both that way, and in the fact he is always attentive and focused during the session, which is motivating in itself.
I've already lost almost 10 pounds, and a surprising number of inches, but Jay says that it's not about the pounds and inches, but about the journey to fitness and strength. I agree with him, and I certainly see welcome improvements in my strength, and even a little muscle definition!
Jay is always upbeat, full of energy, and encouraging, and his place reflects his personality. He told me that he designed the layout of "Titan Training and Nutrition" as a counterbalance to the often impersonal or daunting atmosphere he had witnessed while working in other gyms. He wanted a place of "peace" for his clients. I would say that he's definitely succeeded in that goal. read more
