They're gonna watch me sleep through this camera.
    Hugh M.

A few months ago I got an answer as to why I always have trouble sleeping and wake up tired, I have sleep apnea and have most likely had it most of my life. This discovery was both alarming and comforting, knowing that I stop breathing in my sleep is a little scary, but now I can get some help and take care of myself better. I was lucky enough to get into the TIRR sleep study lab earlier than I expected due to a cancellation. My experience was a positive one and their results reinforced the fact that I have sleep apnea. I parked in the recommended garage 6 next to the facility and they validated the parking so there was no cost incurred there. I made my way to the facility and was directed to the sleep lab. The set up was clean, it looked like a small hotel room. They had cookies, juice and bottled water among other snacks available. A TV, chair and closets were available, though there was only a single bathroom for the entire sleep lab. The memory foam mattress was something I've never experienced and they encourage you to bring your own pillow and blanket to help facilitate the study. The staff was professional, Carlos talked me through the procedure and explained everything to me, answering my questions as we went along. He was careful with the attachment of sensors and wires to my head and various portions of my body and helped me in and out of the bed when I needed it. The attachment of a CPAP breathing machine was a new experience, I hadn't realized how much air I'm not actually breathing in. The machine was quiet and I didn't hear any noise from the other rooms. It was also one of the best nights of sleep I've had in years.. ..even with a machine strapped to my head and wires glued and applied all over my body. If you have trouble sleeping, if you wake up tired every day, just go talk to your Doctor and see about a sleep study. I'd definitely recommend trying to get into this lab for your study. The staff is friendly as well as professional.

The nurses were attentive and personable and the doctor I had spent real time explaining everything I wanted to know including test results. The food was very good for hospital food and my private room was clean and comfortable. Unlike with other hospital stays I did not feel eager to be released, although yes, home is better than anywhere else to me. Thanks to all at Houston Methodist Hospital for making my recovery so comfortable.

On January 27, 2026, at approximately 3:15 PM, I checked in to the 25th floor of the OPC building…read morefor a left knee gel injection administered by Dr. Flannery. This injection was the result of two prior office visits the previous week for the same knee pain, for which I paid the required $50 copay at each visit (totaling $100). The gel injection itself was not an office visit but an in-office procedure that's fully covered and required no copay as verified by Quantum Health! When attempting to complete electronic check-in through MyChart, I was unable to proceed due to a required $50 copay. I contacted Houston Methodist Billing, explained the issue, and the billing representative contacted my insurance to verify coverage. After confirming that no copay was required, she removed the charge and informed me that she "learned something new today," noting that many staff do not understand the difference between an office visit and an in-office procedure. Upon arrival for my injection, front desk staff on the 25th floor again demanded a $50 copay. I calmly explained the steps already taken and informed them that Houston Methodist Billing had already removed the charge after insurance verification. Despite this, I was told I would not be allowed to proceed with my appointment unless I paid. I contacted my insurance provider on the spot and asked staff to speak with them directly. The staff refused. I then requested a manager. A billing lead for the floor came out but also refused to speak with the insurance and insisted I must pay. The insurance representative was listening to this entire exchange and requested that an office manager speak with them; this request was also declined. Eventually, a supervisor named Angie came out and agreed to speak with the insurance. Even after the insurance confirmed that the procedure code did not require a copay, she insisted that EPIC showed a $50 copay because the injection was administered by an orthopedic specialist. The insurance clarified that the provider specialty is irrelevant--procedures do not carry copays, office visits do. At that point, it became evident that the issue stems from systemic miscoding and improper front-end verification practices. I was explicitly told that two verification employees--Gonzalo and Tavis--apply a blanket $50 copay for all encounters rather than verifying service codes properly. This aligns with my experience over several years, during which I am repeatedly forced to pay incorrect copays and later receive refunds after backend audits. This practice appears to rely on patients either not knowing their benefits or not having the time or energy to challenge improper charges. It places an unfair burden on patients, creates hostile front-desk encounters, and undermines trust in the Houston Methodist billing process. My questions to Houston Methodist leadership are straightforward: Is this practice officially condoned? If not, why has it not been corrected systemwide? Why are insurance verification staff not properly trained on the distinction between office visits and in-office procedures? Why are patients routinely forced to overpay and rely on backend refunds rather than being charged correctly upfront? I am exhausted from having to fight this same battle every time I receive an in-office procedure. Numerous complaints over the years have resulted in no meaningful change. Same billing issues exist in other departments including Pain Management. Billing should not be a difficult task. I am perplexed by the Houston Methodist Hospital and their inability to fix their billing system once and for all. Assume the responsibility and don't dump it on your patients!!! Houston Methodist prides itself on being "Number One in Texas." That distinction should apply not only to medical outcomes, but also to honest billing practices, staff training, and respectful patient treatment. Until this issue is addressed at the management level, patients like myself will continue to face unnecessary stress and confrontation for charges that should never have been applied.

I felt the exercises were too easy for where I was at vs. what was "protocol". I liked that Crom felt like a hip gym rather than a geriatric facility. The way they train is fantastic & stands out amongst the competitors. I always had Gabby, Tyler and Amanda work on me together in tandem. I'd come in, was always taken back promptly and they would all 3 take turns working on me and tell me what to do next. This system of "group training" vs. one trainer split about 2-3 patients is way better. I never found myself just "sitting" and "waiting on what to do next". They have a great, positive attitude. I think it really helped keep me motivated and for me to try my best every time. I also enjoyed chatting with the other people training around me and having some good laughs. Dr. Roy was great to work with and he is clearly very knowledgeable and has a friendly demeanor. You won't go wrong coming here!

I called to reschedule my appointment from the 7th and the appointments that I had scheduled the following week for the week of the 18th and the 25th every Tuesday and Thursday. Fast forward I had to reschedule my flight from the 17th to the 19th of December due to the same family emergency and completely forgot to call on Monday to reschedule my appointment on the 19th. I admit it was the last thing on my mind and only remembered mid flight on Tuesday. Today I was running late for my appointment but on my way when I realized I was not going to make it by 8.15. I called at 8.09 saying that I was running late but most likely not going to make it in 4 minutes. I was more than happy to forgo the 15/20 mts that I was late if they would still have me or I could come in later. No one picked up and I left a voice mail message. Get a message a couple of minutes later saying all my appointments were cancelled and had to call on the day for Availability. I called again and explained that I just tried to call to let them know I was running late but on my way and that I left a voicemail message and I was faced with a rude front of house staff that insinuated that he was there all morning and didn't get any phone call or voice mail message and proceeded to tell me I had a cancellation on the 7th (I rescheduled didn't cancel) and a no show on the 19th and today that's why all appointments were canceled and proceeded to give me attitude when I tried to explain what the situation was, which only left me more aggravated and frustrated than I already was. My deductible has been met this year and all my appointments are fully covered so I was trying to do my best to still make it to my appointments since next year I will have to pay for these sessions . The arrogance and attitude that I got this morning made me want to forgo all my appointments. I will find another clinic next year, for my PT and will gladly pay. Bare in mind that I'm a returning patient that has been to the clinic before without any issues. This is not a reflection on my therapist that was wonderful but a sad consequence of a misunderstanding and how poor customer service impacts patients.
