The office itself is unprofessional, as they have people observing treatments whether you approve of this intrusion or not. Often, there are children running around the office and exam room areas. The entire office needs to have training in the area of privacy and confidentiality. Luckily, I was able to find another dentist in the area who has a much more professional office.

Because of this, I always avoided going to the dentist and before I came into Dr. Detar's office it had been over a year since I went to a dentist. My experience at Dr. Detar's office was the best dental experience I have ever had! Everyone was so nice and accommodating! Emma, the dental hygienist, talked to me and made me feel comfortable and after a couple of hours (since it was a new patient visit) I was laughing and didn't even feel like I was at the dentist anymore. Another thing that stood out about my visit was that even though Dr. Detar is the only dentist there, she took the time to show me and explain what she saw in my x-rays in detail. She also took pictures of my cavities and showed me what they looked like and explained how they formed and different ways of preventing them. I learned a lot from my visit and genuinely enjoyed it. I will be coming back to Dr. Detar's office for all of my future dental care needs and recommend anybody who's in search of a dentist to try her out!

AVOID! Why?…read moreApparently, this dentist is getting ready to retire and close up shop. The receptionist, Tina, said that they were NOT accepting new patients. Fine...not unusual, as doctors and dentists sometimes restrict their intake of new patients if they are "full". So, I asked the most logical follow-up - 'When will you be taking on new patients?' Her response - 'We won't be taking on anyone new INDEFINITELY.' (and she most definitely stressed that last word during the conversation) What?!?!?!? I asked - 'So, in other words, you're NEVER taking on ANY new patients?' Her response was curt and rude - 'Sure, whatever, if indefinitely means never to you, then, yeah.' Definitely NOT a place to consider if you are looking for a new dentist. Look elsewhere.
