I am a single mom of 5 kids (my husband works out of town for weeks at a time). I had to reschedule my appointment for a root canal 4 times (1 - kid in the hospital, 2 - kid at the doc, 3 - work commitment). The 4th time was due to personal illness (strep), I canceled due to my fear of the strep spreading into my gums during the procedure (any doctor with half a brain would have fully understood my reasoning). When I called to reschedule again, they didn't care about my reasons, they basically told me to get bent and if I wanted to see Dr. Pelka I would have to travel to his other office because he was no longer willing to see me in this one. So I will be walking around with an abscessed tooth until I have time to travel over an hour without my children. I even have doctor notes and hospital notes, but they didn't care, they are simply refusing service. So I cannot attest to whether or not he is a good doctor on a procedural basis. On a patient basis, he doesn't care about his patients, he cares about his appointment book. I love doctors who have blanket policies, and don't speak to their patients but have their staff call and do their dirty work. Dr. Pelka, if you don't come down off that awfully high pedestal you sit upon, you may get hurt. Oh, and should one of your children end up in the hospital, I surely hope you don't cancel appointments, that would clearly be unacceptable. Also, before accusing your patients of not calling prior to missing an appointment, you may want to learn to check your voicemail. I called every time. read more
