Overall I had an excellent experience with Dr. Betar and his office. They performed many procedures…read moreover two years that cost thousands of dollars. Dr. Betar is a very talented dentist who appears well-versed in his field. Overall very competent. His staff is well trained and executes their duties professionally. Unfortunately, my wife's experience in this office differed significantly from mine. Her overall experience with the staff was not as good as mine. She did not appreciate Dr. Betar's unwillingness to discuss treatment options. This all led to them dismissing her as a patient. The dismissal was because she did not accept his treatment plan. This was very frustrating because he never took the time to discuss treatment plans or offer options. He failed to explain what and why. Because they dismissed my wife, they also dismissed me. They told me their policy states that if one family member is dismissed, the whole family gets let go. I found this to be very disappointing. I had never given them a hard time about anything and accepted Betar's treatment plans without any pushback. Finding a competent dentist and becoming established with them takes time and money. Being dismissed by Betar's office was very frustrating. They were unwilling to discuss the situation with me to come to a resolution that did not involve me being dismissed along with my wife. I was not allowed to talk to anyone beyond the front desk.

BOTH receptionist were talking to the lady about a get together they had earlier that week, nothing dental related! Then when we finally got to sign in, they said we had to reschedule do to not being 15-20 mins earlier! NO ONE told us we had to be there early, and we would have been at least 10 mins early if they hadn't made us wait! After rescheduling and making a point to be there 30 mins early, it was fine. Dentist was kind and funny, and nurses I dealt with were very pleasant. Reception was still rude to not only me but everyone I saw come in while there, and one was cursing with children in the room.

This is the first review I have ever written on here because I was so disgusted with this place and…read moreall the money it has stolen from the community. It's kind of long, so if you don't want to read the whole thing, here is the one sentence version: Aspen Dental actively cons the community by diagnosing non-existent gum disease and trying to sell unproven treatments, and they use fear and fast talk to achieve those means along with a focus on targeting the elderly. Unless you want to commit this year's salary to solving problems you don't actually have, go see someone else. Don't. Go. To. Aspen. The Long Version I have a lot experience in security and dealing with con men, and it's still amazing to me that this operation is legal. Their whole strategy is a scam designed to sell you (unproven) treatments you don't need at incredibly high prices. I confirmed this theory with two other local dentists before I decided to leave this review. I expect greed from Blair County businessmen, but this is a different level. They are going to tell you that you have gum disease and dramatically push you towards unproven antibiotic treatments for a breezy $5,000, and your insurance won't pay for it because they know it doesn't work. I watched them lie to a senior couple about that specifically when the insurance company refused to pay for treatments they didn't need. In particular, don't trust the lady that is checking your gums at your intake. I wish I could name drop her to highlight the guilty, but I forget what it was. She is lying to you and will tell you that you're ill, scare you, sell you an overpriced toothbrush, and take home a commission. I can't tell if she believes the lies she is peddling (in other words, is unintelligent) or if she is conning people for the money, but it doesn't matter. Here's what happened: I went there because I needed to have a filling replaced. They ignored that and tried to convince me I have severe gum disease, but they didn't realize they had told me the same nonsense five years ago and none of what they said would happen ever happened. The con lady said they couldn't fill the tooth without treating my gums because it's like fixing the house's siding with a bad foundation, which is a ridiculous comparison. I would need the tooth filled either way, my mouth is not an old house. I'd bet that the middle aged lady that does the evaluations and yells numbers at you directly benefits from whatever nonsense she can sell you, because she talks fast and uses assumed consent in the same way a shark does at a pool hall. She is also unpleasant, and became more unpleasant when she realized I wasn't going to buy anything from her. Her job is to sell stuff, not care for patients, and it is very clear where her priorities are. My experience with sharks immediately told me I was dealing with a con-woman once I heard the way she talked and how stupid she assumed I was. Perhaps you'll find her less abrasive? Anyway, they refused to replace the filling unless I treated the imaginary gum disease first. When I asked them if I should leave the same way I came in, they suddenly changed their minds and made an appointment to fill the tooth. Because of course they did. The garbage filling they eventually gave me was 350 dollars, and it broke immediately - within hours. They also tried, through presumed consent, to sell me an implant for another casual 10ish grand and said my jaw bones would waste away to nothing and ruin my life if I didn't do it. My mom has been missing that same tooth for 30 years and she is just fine. In order to provide this "service," they made me come in three times instead of just doing it the first time. I just wanted a filling to be replaced. If I knew there were going to be all these lies and stuff I would have just filled it with super glue myself and got similar results. Amazed at how blatantly predatory these people are, I decided to see another dentist to make sure my evaluation was correct. He fixed all my problems for half the price. He also confirmed my suspicion - that this organization lies for a living and tells everyone that they have gum disease. He then cleaned my teeth for 150 dollars (with xrays) and told me that I take very good care of my teeth - because I take very good care of my teeth. I can't give his name because he told me about Aspen's con in confidence. Overall, Aspen is a really great example of modern corporate greed. I was taught that lying to people to take their money is wrong, but nowadays I guess it's just good business. As a fun sidenote, a few years ago I had them pull a broken tooth, and it was literally the most excruciating thing I have ever experienced - on par with my severe eye injury. Then they wouldn't give me pain killers even though they pulled part of my jaw bone out with the tooth. I waved it off as an accident but now I see it's just terrible care at a high price. 0/10, do not pass go, do not give them your 200 dollars.

Totally agree with past reviewer. This used to be the best, my son started as a toddler here and…read morethey were amazing. Recommended them over and over. Now I am finally throwing in the towel after yet ANOTHER incident with them yesterday. They only have one dentist Dr. Lee who works late afternoon so I don't have to pull my kiddo from school. Which BTW unlike they suggest I should have to do....rather than suggesting I have to pull my kid, here's an idea... GET A DOCTOR THAT IS ABLE TO SEE PATIENTS ON TIME!!! I have dealt with this issue before and sat waiting for the doctor while I listened to him talk with a patient about everything in life other than her dental care including a political conversation that I found inappropriate and offensive .... All while other patients sat and waited and waited and waited past their appointment times. Well more if the same yesterday!!!! Son scheduled for 3:45. Called the office and was told not to bother to bring him until 4:30.... Brought him at 4:30 and told the nurse that he was here for his filling but I couldn't stay because I have a second job that I COULDN'T BE LATE FOR...Which is why I scheduled a 3:45 appointment!!!! I told the nurse my son was good to go and hos dad would be there by 5 to pick him up. His dad gets there and waits in the car for a few minutes and then goes in wondering where our 14 year old is??? They have not yet seen him because they DIDN'T HAVE PARENTAL CONSENT !!!! Are you so serious?!?! First I walked in with him and GAVE CONSENT and he is 14.... Which is the legal age of consent for medical treatment!!! This after poor care on 2 root canals, being unable to schedule appointments until months out because they have too many patients and waiting for an hour past my apppntment so that their doctor can have offensive conversation with patients thae has nothing to do with DENTAL WORK!!! I am DONE!!!

Ok, I was referred to Kaczor because of the type of dental coverage I have. The referring dentist…read morewas hesitant and now I know why. I was looking for an oral surgeon to remove three of my teenage son's baby teeth. He is missing 5 adult teeth and still had 3 baby teeth in their places (both incisors and a bottom molar). The molar had fused to the jaw bone. So, not really just a quick pull type of situation. When I first called and explained what my son needed they were very helpful, right up to the point that they asked what insurance I had. I currently am on medical assistance. My husband had become deathly ill and was forced out of work due to the illness (which he had 18 surgeries in 22 months and still nearly died), therefore we had no choice but to use the assistance available to us, which has literally been a blessing. We would have been homeless without it. At that point the woman on the phone told me that we didn't qualify to have his teeth removed. He needed to have 4 or more teeth removed in order to "be covered". I was confused and called the insurance company. They explained that he was most definitely covered for as many or as few teeth needed to be removed. Still confused I questioned why I would have been told that and if the doctor is able to set insurance qualifications such as 4 or more teeth. I was told no. They either accept the coverage or they don't and if they do they must abide by the allowances made by the insurance coverage not by their own choosing. So, I call back to the office and see if I can figure out what the misunderstanding is. As soon as the woman heard my name she said "I already told you that you don't qualify" I went on to explain what I had been told by the insurance company and her response was "Those people know what our requirements are, we have told them repeatedly. They are idiots. They keep sending 'you people' (with the sound in her voice like she was trying not to vomit) to us when you don't meet our requirements." I asked exactly what she meant by 'you people'. Her response "who live on assistance". To say I was shocked and upset is an understatement. I calmly and quickly explained my husbands illness that put us in the need of assistance in the first place and then told her that I hope no one ever treats her they way she clearly treats "you people'. She then hung up on me. I called the insurance company back and was given other surgeons that accept "you people". The first one I called was the closest after Kaczor and is over an hour from where I live but I will happily drive it to get my son the care he needs from people who actually want to treat him. If you are near Phillipsburg, PA or don't mind the drive....call Drs. Rice and Ali 814-375-0500. We were treated with care and respect and able to schedule for the surgery in less than a week.

Very rude staff and doctor! Took my b/f there to have teeth removed. All they told him was that he…read moreneeded to have someone there to drive him home which would be common sense. I am nearly 5 months pregnant and took him in at a little before 9am. I hadn't eaten or had even a drink with me because I figured I would go a few blocks down and get something once he went in. Wrong! The staff was very rude and even blocked the door so I couldn't leave. I had to at least lock up my car and make a call for someone to bring me something so I didn't get sick. I was standing on the steps in front of the door for maybe 5 minutes. Never moved my car just locked it up. Meanwhile the doctor first tells my bf that if I wasn't back in 5 miniutes that he would not use anesthesia (only novacaine) to surgically remove 11 teeth. Then told him that he checked the parking lot and that my vehicle was not there so I must have left so he was going to cancel his surgery. As I stood out front of the door calling family the secretary came out as though something was Wong and told me I needed to come now. Only to be told I had to sit in the waiting room right now, which was 10 feet from the door. So as I am waiting for someone to bring me a drink etc. I am then told that I am not even allowed to go out and get the stuff when it is brought. A short while later I am taken to a back room and made to shut my phone off (so now I can't even be contacted when my family arrives). I still had to wait another 30 minutes before he was discharged and at that point they suggested that maybe someone else take care of him. All we asked for was 10 minutes for me to get a drink and some food so I could take my medicines , had I not been pregnant it wouldn't have been a big deal. They made no sense when they said I had to stay in case something happens, well it's not as if I was going to be allowed back in the room if something went bad Or they needed me to call amed. I just feel the staff should have informed us more before hand. Never have I heard of any doctors office or hospital for any procedure telling someone they had to stay inside the building, couldn't be outside the doors even to get a drink. They were extremely rude about the entire situation and the Dr lying to him that I had apparently gotten in my car and snuck away when I went out to lock my vehicle was absolutely unprofessional. Maybe it's just my pregnancy hormones and being sick on a daily basis doesn't help. I thought I was trying to do the nice thing and didn't sit and.ear and drink in front of him at home and would do it while he was in the appointment, WRONG!
