Considering it was our first evening in the city and we had yet to figure out where everything was, a quick search on Google led us to nearby Tip y Tap.
The best way I can describe this place is as better than expected. To begin with, they had free parking, which in Santiago is a mission in itself. To go further, upon entering, we were greeted warmly and led to a table.
The waiter we had, an older gentleman whose name I forget, was very sweet. He brought us our two beers and genuinely offered suggestions not just on the food but on visiting the country as a whole.
Wound up ordering lomo a lo pobre (if memory serves me correctly) which is a cut of beef that is flavorful and has onions, eggs, and French fries with it. To say I didn't end up finishing this dish is a given. My companion meanwhile had steak with mushrooms and French fries. He inhaled his dish.
The entire ambiance reminded me of a Cuban restaurant in Miami. Why do I say this? Because it had family feels and a lot of food. Perhaps too much. This was one of our better meals during our stay in Chile and really the only reason I don't rate higher is because I had to dispute a charge from them. I got charged twice! read more
