I'm extremely disappointed with my experience. My feet were not properly exfoliated, and there was still a noticeable amount of dead skin left afterward. I also requested a specific design but received something completely different. On top of that, I was quoted one price and ended up being charged nearly triple. The quality of service and customer care here is very poor. I felt misled and overcharged. I would not recommend this place--save your money and go elsewhere. Also, I forgot to mention they painted my skin and cut my hand with the little tool design that they were using. After going there for at least 8 years with no problem, I can no longer recommend Tip Top after only one experience with the new owners. I went for a shellac manicure. The techs did not care about my experience. They threw a stack of color samples on the table and grabbed my hand to start sanding down my nails before I even chose a color. After I chose the color I wanted, they took away the sample colors and when it was time to polish, they didn't remember what I chose and gave me a different color set that wasn't the one with the color I chose. They didn't understand when I was trying to tell them the color I'd chosen wasn't there, and I even told them what I thought the color number was. I ended up just choosing something from the new color set they put in front of me. They did not do my cuticles, made me bleed twice from using the dremel, and my nails are not uniform length and shape. A total waste of money. read more

Dec 27 2017 Had a little free time on a holiday trip to MI and treated my adult daughter to a Pedi. I tried out Tip Top Nails based on much appreciated Yelp reviews. It was 4 minutes from where we were staying, so it seemed like a no-brainer. I called ahead and was glad that I did. They said to head over in 30 minutes. The place is small, and it was BUSY (but parking was easy). Since we had an appt, we were seen immediately. Two women did our toes, and while they weren't particularly talkative, they were sweet and greeted us cheerfully. Very nice ladies. I'll say that this is NOT a fancy place, in comparison to other nail salons. I noticed that they didn't pull the cheese grater tool out of a sterile bag, I might have missed it, but my hunch was that they didn't have an incredibly stringent policy in that regard (I will update my review if my toes fall off). I did see them spray sanitizer in the foot tubs themselves in between customers (whew) and they use a bubbling sanitizing tablet when they fill it. Here's the kicker... it was $25 flat for a 50 minute pedi, in a nice spa chair, with exfoliation. And there was zero attempt to up sell us on anything. They spent a lot of time cleaning up and shaping the nails and smoothing rough skin. I think that's the most important part. While the exfoliation and lotion was relaxing, do not expect an in-depth massage. Again folks... $25 wow! We will be back! Update - just did another visit, same situation (traveling from out of town). Did a regular pedi and gel manicure. Awesome attention to detail, all guests seemed very happy. this is my only nail place - heidi does my nails and mary, my toes. it's my happy place - soothing music and a massage chair you can adjust to your comfort level. heidi does a very good job of working on my nails. they withstand my very rigid work load. And she measures them together to make sure they are even. Files them until they are smooth. Went to this place based on the reviews from Yelp. I got shellac taken off and a new shellac manicure (I was charged $28). In my experience, the service was good but the final product was average, if not less than. My technician was the younger man, he was very nice and polite. However, he spent a LOT of time buffing my nails and cutting down my cuticles, 3 of my fingers were actually left bleeding. For someone that paid a lot of attention to detail, I wish he would've paid more to the shape of my nails as almost none of them match. There were many colors of shellac to choose from and his application was nice, some polish is touching my cuticles but despite that it was applied evenly. Any girl knows that, no matter what special event you attend, you have to bring your A-game, and that means getting your nails done. I was scrolling through Yelp when I came across Tip Top Nails. Being from out of town, I did my Yelp research and called to book appointments for 8 ppl for manis and pedis prior to a family member's wedding. The salon owner was courteous and informed us that he would be able to accommodate all of us -- yay! We arrived at our scheduled appointment time, and were immediately checked in and told to choose our nail polish color. I wanted a French pedicure and for my manicure, I found a cute idea on Pinterest, so I screenshot it and showed it to my nail tech (it wasn't anything too crazy so I was told they could do it... see photos). I enjoyed my pedicure and manicure, and was pleased with everything... Until it came to the nail polish. I must've sat there for at least 45 mins after my nails were painted (I was waiting for the rest of my party to get done getting pampered), under the blue light, and the moment I got up to go pay, my nail polish smudged. Seriously?! I commented on my smudged nail polish so they fixed it, but it was no longer smooth like they were freshly painted; you could tell they were touched up, and it looked so thick. Sigh. The nail tech ended up putting some "quick-dry" solution on top of my nails, too, to make sure they would dry. Now I'm no expert, but you would think that after sitting there for so long, my nails would've been dry. They looked fine for the wedding, which I was happy with, however they really need to get new nail polish. Two days after my mani and pedi, and my nail polish chipped off -- and I'm not saying it cracked or a small chip, I mean the entire nail polish off a few of my nails came off, as in the whole thing peeled off. It looked like it was the press-on nail polish sticker stuff they have nowadays. I could've glued the entire piece back on my nail. So disappointing to pay for a mani/pedi only to have them all peel off within a few days. You know how when you have old paint with too many coats, and the cracks and peels? Yeah, that's what happened. Not sure I'd go back to this place if I'm ever in town again and need to get my nails done... and sadly enough, my family probably won't be back either. I think I finally found my nail spot! Quin did my nails and she did a beautiful job. I showed her where the other place I'd been to messed up my nails. She built up my nails and did a flawless job of filling them. She asked me to check the shape and cheerfully reshaped my nails the way I wanted them. A man (I didnt get his name) finished the shaping and applied the polish so Quin could do some nail art for the woman next to me. She painted the cutest little snowman, penguin and snowflakes. I searched for a nail salon on Yelp and found Tip Top Nails. I needed a place for a pedicure and they are pretty good. They are busy on the weekends, but I have not waited more than 15 minutes for service. The individuals who have done my pedicure are really thorough which is what I like. SImilar to other nail shops, they have massage chairs and a variety of nail polish selections. I stick to bringing my own favorite color in case of chipping later. The acrylic smell is not overwhelming in the nail salon. I will continue to go for pedicures as it meets my needs and the hot towel is a nice added feature. read more
