Tindal Street Press is a tiny independent publishers which packs a massive punch. Despite having a staff of about 2 and being named after an non-descript road in Balsall Heath, their books have been listed for/ won Booker prizes, Costa prizes, Orange prizes, Commonwealth Writers prizes - and pretty much any literary award you can name.
The best thing about Tindal Street Press - other than, of course, the fact that it publishes great fiction, is that it publishes regional fiction. Whereas 99% of the publishing industry hunkers down in London and the South East, Tindal Street a) is based in Birmingham and b) specifically publishes regional writers i.e. anyone not from London. I love the fact that this tiny independent is sticking two fingers up to the rest of the publishing industry that can't see further than the M25. And collecting ample prizes along the way. read more
