We were planning a holiday gathering for family and friends when I learned about Lillian Judith…read moreCatering. Thank goodness!! Stephanie worked closely with us to determine the menu. Because our guests had a lot of food issues - gluten, nut and dairy it was a real challenge! Stephanie carefully curated a menu that hit all of our requirements. In addition, because we live out of town for most of the year, our decorations, holiday plates and whatnot were quite limited. Stephanie put my fears to rest by assuring me she'd take care of all the details. As the day of the party dawned, we had the place all cleaned up and ready. Stephanie and Mary arrived about an hour before the guests and set to work transforming our little place into a festive, inviting party spot. We had holiday cocktails and mocktails, delicious heavy appetizers and desserts that were out of this world. Stephanie literally thought of everything. All the food was labeled so our guests could choose foods that were best for their food sensitivities. At the end of the party they gathered everything up, helped set aside uneaten food for later consumption and left with very little for us to other than sweep the floor and fall into bed after a very fun and satisfying gathering of friends. Overall experience 5* Food 5* Decorations and ambience 5* Stress - zero

We usually have 150-200 people attend and most people speak very highly of the quality of the food. Each year I can expect to hear 2 or 3 complaints, but when you have that big of a group of people your going to have 2 or 2 who won't be pleased no matter what. Rosemary is a delight and a pleasure to work with. We've already scheduled them for next year

No contracts, just emails saying when and where they need to be, how much it will be. They are extremely unprofessional when speaking on the phone after customers have paid. "Well, put your complaints in an email and the owner will get to it at her convenience, because as far as we're concerned, that job is done and it's off of the check list." None of our guests got seconds, the employees took cupcakes from our cake table home with them (when I asked about this, the owner said "That's not true, they wouldn't do that. None of us even like sweets." but, in the same breath, stated that her daughter did bring home a cupcake for her elderly father) and then the person that took the cupcakes told me she shouldn't have even taken them because they were only boxed cake mix cupcakes. Very unprofessional and rude. Very disorganized. Like I said, the food was great and I have no complaints about that. But, paying 2,250 for and less than half of the guests show and getting none of the food for which we paid is an insult. The daughter of the owner told us that we "Should be upset that your guests that RSVP'd and didn't show up are who you should be angry with, not us for not leaving you the food." We were told after the fact that if we had asked for them to leave it, they would have, but they also told us that they have never left food and wouldn't have left it. We were very much given the run around after the fact. She stated that her sister is going to write down "what they do" (as far as procedures) and put it on the website after our conversation because "this keeps happening". VERY displeased.

This was the second year we were using them, the first year was great with no problems at all. It took until February 2017 before they FINALLY called to say that they were ready to be picked up. We had tried to call them to see what the problem was and they had a recording saying not to ask when the deer would be finished processing, they would contact us when it was ready for pick up. They finally called and when we went to pick them up and the order wasn't completely ready yet. They were still finishing the breakfast sausage and we had to wait. There also must have been a problem with their vacuum sealer, because the seals failed and the meat was freezer burnt. There were also bones in the snack sticks we ordered. Not sure what happened between the 2015 and 2016 hunting seasons but the service went completely down hill. I can say we will not ever use them again for anything. We are local and wanted help out the local businesses, but there are plenty of others that will gladly take our money and give us the service and product we expect and will earn our business.

The St. Clare Catholic School dinner auction was held Saturday, October 15, 2016. This is the…read moreschool's main fundraiser and we have used Jim's Country Catering for 14 years and been pleased. Ben, the one in charge, was well aware of the type of event, the importance of us offering a high-quality meal, and having plenty of food. We were VERY disappointed in the service at the time of the event and the product delivered. They were to arrive for set-up between 5-5:30 p.m., as dinner was scheduled for 6 p.m. sharp. They made no attempt to let us know they were running late, and I got a message back a few minutes before 6 they were running late. By the time they finally arrived and got the food set up to serve it was over an hour later than scheduled. The food had obviously been prepared and sat, as it was not freshly made. The Malibu chicken was dry, the prime rib was "okay", and the sides we ordered due to recommendations by Ben, were sub-par (pasta con broccoli, sour cream potatoes, and green beans). Then, to top it off WE RAN OUT OF FOOD! This was not a few people short, there were roughly 40-50 people who went without some or ALL of the sides we ordered. There were rolls and extra "tossed salad" but this was simply cut lettuce dumped in a serving tray and we even ran out of salad dressing! The ice cream was melted and the brownies were dry, not sure about the cobblers. The worker who brought the food knew of our disgust and displeasure that night, but Ben didn't even try to contact us until 2 days later, and that was due to me not paying the night of the event. After being questioned about the way the food was served, instead of being apologized to for the horrible experience, Ben stated responsibility for the food being late and offered us $200 for that. He took absolutely no responsibility for the shortage of food, except that he had prepared it. He insinuated that we had served more people, and that people early in line had taken too much food (neither being true). Our event was built around a time schedule and food was ordered for 163 people (and we only served 158). The late arrival and low-quality of the food definitely put a damper on our event and the night's profits. I would NEVER recommend Jim's Country Catering to anyone ever again.
