The basement space was big enough for this smallish wedding reception. But the decor is starting to show its age. There is a wallpaper border that has seen better days and the carpeting is due to be replaced. On the plus side the dance floor was large and the bar was centrally located. The bathrooms were clean and located in an easily accessible place. With just a small facelift, this basement space could be so much better. Still, my friends managed to have a nice wedding reception

The shrimp a tad bland but the sauce made up for it in dipping. I had the Shrimp Fra Diavolo and was pleasantly surprised at the flavor. I will add that its probably too spicy for most. Not Thai spicy but pretty hot. I loved it. I am not one for foo-foo butter but their garlic butter was great as was the bread. Caesar salad was excellent, chopped not wedged. My wife enjoyed the Seafood Ravioli which was not too spicy for her. We shared a Chocolate Torte for dessert and it was enjoyable. Coffee was alright but nothing special. Overall, a great experience following a long hiatus for Elijah McClean's. Glad to have a fine dining experience return to Washington. We will be back.

Sometimes I feel clubs and organizations like this perpetuate old-fashion views that are best kept in the past, but I don't get that feeling at all at the Elks. The Washington Elks represents the best in small town culture. A community of people who care about each other and come together for some AB products and a good time. Women and men are equal members, and even if you are not a member, you are welcomed into this club for a killer bar experience. Now that I am off my soap box...it's a great bar and a good venue for a wedding. The hall itself is a blank slate for fabulous decorations and big enough to fit a Washington wedding guest list. Their $1 Burger, $1 Fry nights are stuff of legend, and it has a fabulous new-ish patio. You must be with a member to get in, and they are serious about that policy. The no-smoking ban is amazing so you are covered in smoke when you leave. Overall, great place for a good time. If I ever move back to Washington, I would be privileged to be an Elk.

Appetizers were already displayed on each table as a tiered centerpiece which was a creative idea due to covid. Our apps were a Crispy Buffalo Chicken ball, Potato Puff and a Pastry bite with cheese, spinach and sundries tomato. Oh my goodness all 3 of these were amazing! The pastry puff was my absolute favorite and I could have made my meal just the apps. Salad next, very tasty dressing. It seemed to be a creamy Italian and it wasn't too tart. Salad was just the right serving size. Meal.. chicken milanese, roasted garlic mashed potato and vegetables. The mash were seasoned to perfection and the chicken had the perfect amount of sauce. Food came out hot too, which was a pleasant surprise. Reason for the 4 instead of 5, the dessert fell short as it was waaaayyyy too sweet for my taste and with the tea there was no Equal or Splenda and the sugar available didn't dissolve. Lol. Otherwise, I definitely recommend this caterer!
