My 10-year-old is baseball obsessed and recently got his first signed card in a random pack of Topps baseball cards. Jose Canseco, baby! My son has described the moment he came across the signed card as maybe "the best moment of his life" and continues to stress how rare it is to get a signed card in a pack of Topps. I don't know if that is true, but it's charming. He also told me that he opened the pack in the shop and whoever was working at the time told him that he was super lucky and gave him a heavy duty plastic case to put his special card in for free. My guess is that a plastic card cover costs less than a dollar, but the interaction and kindness of the worker made me feel compelled to leave a review. Baseball is magical and I love the community it inspires. My son is asleep with his Jose Canseco card (lol) and we definitely will be back, and thank you to that nice employee.

If your visiting from out of state and your a card collector I highly recommend you make a visit to this place.

Myself and a couple of my buddies were in Chicago for the National Sports Cards Convention and before our 16 hour drive back home we decided to check out a few locations near by. We happened to drive by this location and decided to take a quick look. It is a small local business with a limited selection but the owner has alot of knowledge and is a true collector himself. I just read an article by Upper Deck that Tim and his card shop was featured in a super bowl commercial back in 2010 as he was chosen by Miller to help support the small businesses. Thank you to Tim and his mother for the restaurant recommendations and places to check out, they were spot on. If your visiting from out of state and your a card collector I highly recommend you make a visit to this place. Tim and his mother were the kindest people we met during our visit to Chicago and they were a pleasure to speak with, they will give you some great recommendations for restaurants if your not a local too. I will surely be back once I return back to Chicago.

Location hmmm?, it is a tiny tiny little shop! There's not much to it and he doesn't have a lot out in his cases! The highest dollar card I saw was $10 He must have stuff somewhere else? I was pretty geeked up about going to a card shop and maybe picking up a few cards or a box, an auto, or maybe a throw back Jersey something. Tim has more cards at http://www.beckett.com... so you can check this site out and see if he has anything you want. I guess I'm spoiled with a great card shop close to me here in Cedar Rapids, Ia But then again if I lived in the Chicago area I would prolly be stopping in ever now and then and grabbing a box or two or thee to geek over. Support your Local small business owners!

Magic Inc. -- Chicago…read more I've been to Magic Inc. three or four times now, and every visit has been a great experience. If you're a magician, hobby magician, or just somebody who loves magic, this is a place you need to check out. It's more than just a magic shop. It's a place where you can actually talk magic. The staff has always been great, and they've shared some fantastic stories about local Chicago magicians and mentalists. Pedro, the owner, even gave me the whole backstory on one of my favorite mentalists. As a hobby magician, I really appreciate that kind of conversation and the history behind the art. Every time I've stopped in, I've learned something, heard a good story, or discovered something interesting. You can tell these guys genuinely love magic and its history. They also have some great prices and plenty of magic, books, collectibles, and other items that you're just not going to find anywhere else. After three or four visits, I can honestly say that every experience has been a good one. If you're into magic, make the stop. Even if you don't buy anything, go in, look around, and talk some magic. You'll probably walk out with something you didn't know you needed. Five stars from this hobby magician.

Absolutely the worst business owner I've ever seen. He'll…read moretell you a price and then change it over & over. Also, Don't waste your time trying to bring your toys in to sell. He'll give you 5% of what they are actually worth. And he's extremely overpriced as is. Also, get the feeling that a lot of Julian's products are stolen. Trust us, this is not the kind of store you want to go into, especially if you have kids. Beware.

I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to like this place--I really do, but the things that the store owner…read moredoes makes me never want to come back again. Jason S, whoever he is, is right. Julian constantly changes prices and tries to lowball a lot of his customers. He sold me a a dragon ball figure telling me it was 70, but when I came to the store, he bumped the price up to 110. Not cool man. His business ethic and the way he handles a lot of his business is sloppy and he's inconsiderate when he thinks about the buyer. Second thing, he will leave you with dirt in your eyes. Not to make a reference to Spiderman 3, but if you do trade with this guy for either store credit or one of his items, he'll most likely give you a terrible offer. Trust me. I tried trading some stuff for a particular item, he ended up lowballing the hell out of me for 300 credits for items well worth over 1000 dollars... If you really do enjoy collecting but want to spend your money wisely and come out of the store knowing you made a good purchase from a local business instead of retail, I suggest you go to any other collectible store like Nakama or Quake. Dave is a really cool guy and would go to great measures making sure you get a good deal or offer, but not Julian. This isn't a review to bash on his store for any unintended purpose, this is a review because I went to this guys store too long and had enough. Beware collectors.
