Walk in the door, look to your left and there's Timpson. This Timpson is absolute class offering a wide range of services including dry cleaning, key cutting, cobbling and even phone repairs. They offer on the spot key cutting, which is really handy and won't break the bank. The location is excellent with ATM's and on site parking you will be hard pressed to find a better service. The guys working at Timpson know their stuff too and are generally pretty amiable.

With that satisfactorily accomplished I returned another time with other shoes and the repair was just as good, again costing about £5.00, but I haven't had the opportunity to test a more complicated cobbling requirement such as getting a zip mended or heel lowered.

It really is surprising how much longer you can make a decent pair of leather shoes last if you re-heel them often enough. The city heel bar is fast and convenient if you work in town and need some shoe repair done as soon as possible. They can, if you ask politely enough, fix or re-heel your shoes while you wait. As well as this they are cheap, and compared to buying a new pair of shoes, it is a steal. They have a key cutting service too.

So to save my thrifty bake some pennies, I go here instead of staying local where if I get my key's cut, I'll be able to get into my house, but not stock its fridge or pay the bills. The man who works there is realistic about what he can do with shoes and boots that have been walked into the ground, but if he takes a job on, will always do it to the highest standard. I've handed over embarassing excuses for footwear to him and he has never failed to bring them round for me. They do ask for a small deposit of 'whatever you like' to get shoes re heeled, due apparently to people leaving shoes and not returning for them once the work has been done. New heels cost £3.50, and new soles are about a fiver. And as shoe menders and key cutting seem to go together in shops like peas and carrots, this shop stocks a dazzling array of fun coloured keys, if that's what floats your boat.
