Dr. Wiebe is one of the most nicest Doctor I have met in a long time. I had to see him for back pain in my lower back. When I went to see him, I met a woman who has became one of my best friends, Wanda is a wonderful MA, she went over every step with me and made sure I understood everything the doctor talk to me about. I recently had a family member seeing this doctor who had stage 4 cancer, the doctor said he could remove the tumors that were causing headaches without complication. He never mentioned any risks of the surgery. This patient was walking, talking and living on his own. After the 4 hour surgery I asked the ICU nurses if the doctor had been in. The nurses were trying to contact the doctor but couldn't reach him. I called his office and his MA (WANDA) who told me the doctor wasn't in and she had no idea where he was and if I wanted to speak with him I should wait at the hospital until he came in and she had no idea what time that would be. At that time I started researching what was required of a doctor after a surgery and found out they have to be reachable by the hospital staff and that he should have informed his patient of any risks involved with the surgery. The ICU nurses filed a complaint that he was rude and unapproachable. When "Lynnie" was moved to a room the nurses were having the same problems with this doctor. After 2 days nurses determined that he couldn't eat or drink anything because it was going straight to his lungs but the doctor had orders that all meds be administered by mouth and refused to change is status I had to get the hospital director involved to administer any meds. After the surgery Lynnie was basically a vegetable in diapers. This doctor only did this surgery for money he certainly didn't have the patients best interest in mind. The one staff their is rude and not very helpful, while sitting there waiting for the very unhelpful MA, I had another patient walk by telling me that this place was not going to be open very much longer and not to waste my time here, which I have no clue what that was about. The wait wasn't that bad, and I'll give at least 2 stars because the doctor obviously was a patriot looking at the wall with all the pictures of 9/11, and at first seemed nice. we will go onto the next problem. I had primary and ER doctor both refer me to Neurosurgeon due to the results of the MRI, and cat scans, and got me in pretty quick, and pretty much the prognosis was to send me to another neurologist which I noticed this says he is a Neurologist. Which he can't be because the the Neurologist that I wanted to see is also a Neurosurgeon and that can't happen from the mouth of the MA. Wrong!!! This doctor is a Neurosurgeon , and I believe one for Mercy or Memorial hospital with his own private office. Anyways, he wanted me to try a cervical traction, which kind of don't know what is other then it should stretch my spine in my neck and hopefully release the pressure off my spinal chord and help with my disc. Which he did kind of discuss. Can't bash it, cause I haven't tried it yet. Anyways, while being rushed out by the MA, while trying to find the name and number to the Neurologist I wanted to see while she was also trying to explain whatever the hell she said because it's kind of hard to read and look up a number and doctor while getting instructions. Which happen to be her explaining where to get the bracket, something about an MRI, something about nerve conduct test, etc etc etc.....after I get the number, I have to wait at least 10 minutes for her to come back to the waiting room after asking someone else from a different doctors office that shares the building. She didn't even give me enough time to write down the name or number down on a piece of paper before leaving telling me to just leave it on the desk...WTF! So, anyways, I leave call the Kern Radiology to set up the MRI, which they knew nothing about yet. Then I had a prescription for the cervical traction, with another piece of paper to different places I could go to get it. Anyways, that was a nightmare, don't use Apria, when someone is trying to give you a number with letters and the use the word axe to explain E, it definitely tells you that their first lauhuage is not English, and the girl before was even worse. After talking to them on the phone, they said I would need to FAX the prescription to them. Sorry, I don't have a fax machine, so I called the doctors office back to request they fax the letter, and Satan tells me that she gave me the prescription and I can drive it there...even though I can't pick it up cause they will have to order it. Anyways, my opinion, people with private insurance, do your research and check these doctors and offices out before just being referred. You don't have to go to a doctor you don't know just cause another doctor referred you. You go to McDonald's and order a Hamburger no cheese, and guess what, they make it with cheese. Just because your hamburger maker doesn't make you good at being hamburger maker. It kind of works the same for Doctors, just because you have a PHD and went to school doesn't make you a good Doctor. Same goes for any occupation. Use a little time, do a little research, stay away from doctors that accept medi-cal, cause a lot of them would like you to believe that they accept state insurances like KFHC cause they just have a big heart. When really the goal is to see as many patients possible for a lower wage cause the state always pays. Really, you are just a piece of green paper in their pocket. Actually, I have a specialist that is one of a kind and is that big hearted guy. So, that's not totally true. Some of them will limit the medi-cal patients or put you first to actually show they have a heart. Anyways, go see another Neurosurgeon, or take your chances, or maybe he is good, but my experience sucked, and actually I have more but I think I wrote enough...again the MA. read more

I am a true believer and fan of Dr. Wiebe!! This was not the case when I saw him in June of 2016. I was in excruciating cervical and lumbar pain for over a year and had just been informed of terrible damage to my spine after under going both an MRI and CT scan due to all consuming spasming and the inability to use the entire left side of my body. I had not been able to sleep for more than a few hours sporadically for months and was terrified by my body's refusal to allow me to do the smallest of tasks. Dr. Wiebe performed a thorough examination, collected a detailed history from both myself and my husband, and asked me to perform what seemed like impossible tasks considering my physical state. I was highly offended when he asked me numerous questions regarding childhood trauma and events and was confused by what felt like total psycho analasys by a neurosurgeon! He then explained that my physical examination revealed severe and extensive hypertonia, (nearly the worst spasticity and rigidity of the muscles of my entire left side he had ever seen!). He explained that surgery was inevitable due to the degenerative findings of my imaging studies, that outlet syndome certainly was a contributing factor, previous fractures, herniations, etc were all part of my very complicated case. So I truly thought he was incredibly cruel when he stood up and announced he was leaving the room so I could, "gather my thoughts and composure so I would be focussed enough to truly hear what he was going to tell me next". My husband and I sat staring at eachother in disbelief as he closed the door behind him and was gone for some time. When he returned he sat across from me and explained that he was in no implying that I was abusing the medication I had been prescribed for the severe pain I had been experiencing, but that the World Health Organization had compiled numerous studies about the use of carisoprodol, also known as Soma and it's adverse and even opposite effects on patients such as myself with tangible Spinal injuries and previous Central Nervous System/ Traumatic Brain Injuries. He told me to go back to acetaminophen/Tylenol for pain and to discontinue the use of carisoprodol/ Soma period because it was absolutely exacerbating if not actually causing my muscles to involuntarily contract and spasm. He also told me to gain atleast 20 pounds by eating a diet rich in folic acid, calcium rich foods, high protein and add oils to my diet from both inside and out. He told me I needed to exercise in a pool and begin stretching and learning yoga like poses. He explained that though his recommendations would prove to be the most difficult and painful I may ever experience, that it would also be life changing. And finally he said if this didn't work or I was unable to do it then surgery was certainly the obvious alternative. I thought he was a complete idiot! I had never abused or misused the 2 prescriptions for pain or muscle spasming! I actually filed an administrative complaint about my visit with Dr. Wiebe. I was hopeless and angry with my situation and allowed it to cloud my judgement even though he was honest and trying to educate me about how to actually improve my physical health! So one evening as I was stuck in bed in pain and frustrated beyond belief, I logged onto the World Health Organization's website and was truly shocked by the information I found regarding my symptoms and the medications we had discussed. I went into my primary physician and asked him to destroy my entire prescription of Soma and pain medication and requested a prescription for the lowest strength of the anti-seizure medication Dr. Wiebe suggested I switch to. I followed all of his advice and suggestions. I can not thank this man enough for the information he opened my eyes to! My body is strong! My mind is empowered! My relationships are even stronger due to the lack of pain and distress in my world! The World Health Organization addresses a plethora of issues and has amazing publications from all over the world! Even patients who do not struggle with abuse or addiction of prescription drugs must educate themselves on the benefits and risks of each chemical we put into our bodies!!
