He referred me to Dr. Rosen for an injection and thorough back exam. I got an appointment with Dr. Rosen fairly quickly but it all went down the hill from there. Dr. Rosen didn't agree with the diagnosis from my PCP and refused to give me the injection. He ordered an MRI (two weeks wait time to get that). Then it took Dr. Rosen's office nearly THREE(!) weeks to call me back with results after I had the MRI. In the meantime I was in so much pain that I was unable to sleep or function at work. I spent hundreds of dollars out of pocket to seek treatment outside of Kaiser, getting some relief. Dr. Rosen's office called me back with the results of the MRI, nearly two months after onset of my pain, to review the results. The nurse was more interested in reporting my status back to the doctor than in how I actually felt or suggesting remedies. She suggested I get the injection my PCP ordered in the first place if my pain was getting worse again. Worst Kaiser experience I have ever had. I do NOT recommend this doctor!

He isn't in pain anymore, so I was so thrilled to have him as my surgeon as well. 5 months later, and I'm completely back to normal. They got me right on time. I saw his associate first who revied the films and explained thoroughly what the issues are. Then Dr. Hoenecke came in and also reviewed my range of motion and such. He must have spend 20+ minutes with me. After me agonizing over whether I should agree to a shot that could be very painful but could help I agreed. I was so SCARED that his sweet nurse held both my hands while I got the injection. I DIDN'T feel a thing. I can't believe it! The Doc did a great job. I stated that I would prefer to see Dr. Hoenecke alone and she said she didnt know if it was possible because they pay them as well. She said she would mention it. 15 minutes later Dr. Hoenecke came to the door of the exam room. He stood at the door (not entering the room) and said. 'WE ARE A TEAM! IF YOU DON'T SEE HER... YOU DON'T SEE ME'. I was taken aback by his abrasivie, combative, uncaring statement. He never entered the room, never introduced himself, never tried to explain the situation. I immediately exited the room telling him he should make new patients aware of his strict policy. He told me if I didnt like it to call Administration, which I did. The whole experience was patient orientated and very pleasant (if you can call having surgery pleasant!!). I went for a bandage change yesterday and was very pleased to see that the incision was surprisingly small and my swelling moderate. I have moved off of the heavy duty pain killers onto aleve and thus far have been able to hop around the house with minimal pain and discomfort. I was told by a physician that I might have a condition called Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). I called Dr. Sajben about seeing her for CRPS which is one of her specialties. I called her and she asked me questions over the phone about my condition. Based on my responses she was able to tell me that she was certain I did not have CRPS and I needed physical therapy. Most doctors would not take the time to talk to a patient on the phone for as long as she did. She referred me to a fantastic physical therapist that was able to rehabilitate me to where I am just about 100% healed. This is a doctor that is extemely knowledgeable and cares about helping people. I would highly recommend her.

That alone felt excessive for the amount of time and care provided. What was even more frustrating is their policy that if you have pain in your arm, you are only allowed to discuss one joint per appointment. If you have issues with your shoulder, elbow, or wrist, they expect you to schedule separate visits for each. That is completely unreasonable and feels more like a way to generate more billing rather than actually help patients. The visit felt rushed and nothing meaningful was done to address my issue. Unfortunately, this experience gave the impression that the office is more focused on maximizing charges than on treating patients. I definitely would not recommend this office.
