I've been sitting on this review for a while but ultimately decided to post it because it's…read moresomething I would have wanted to know before becoming a patient here. Northwest Dental has a policy that if you haven't been seen at their practice/haven't been to the dentist in years, they require you to undergo a deep cleaning that involves two appointments and being numbed because of how in depth they go. At my first appointment, this made sense to me as I was a new patient and it had been a few years since I had been to a dentist (I moved from out of state and am honestly just lucky that I'm not cavity prone so finding a dentist wasn't high on my immediate list of "to-do's" after moving). This is where my first point of contention pops up though because they don't make this very clear hence why I was confused when they started coming at my mouth with a needle to numb me. It was only at that point they really explained to me what their policy was. I thought they could have done a better job of explaining but okay, we're already here so let's do this. Fast forward to my next appointment 6 months later and I was pregnant! I was extremely nauseous in the beginning of my pregnancy and the thought of someone poking around in my mouth was the least appealing thing at the moment. I cancelled intending to reschedule later on once the nausea passed but lucky me, I was one of those who was nauseous almost my entire pregnancy. Then I had my baby and obviously "schedule dentist appointment" is again not a high priority during maternity leave and postpartum. So I was finally able to reschedule around 6 months after my daughter was born, at this point it had been just over a year since my last appointment. I show up and find out that because I hadn't been seen in just over a year, I was required to undergo their deep cleaning procedure again. I asked if it was possible to just have a regular cleaning like you'd expect from any other dentist and was told that wasn't an option. It was deep cleaning or nothing. To further complicate matters, my dental insurance was going back and forth with them over charging so much for yet another deep cleaning. I was told I could pay out of pocket and hope my insurance reimburses or wait to see what exactly my insurance would cover and the office would call me. I chose the latter as I wasn't about to pay out of pocket for something I, and apparently my insurance, didn't think was necessary. In the meantime I texted my friend who is also a dentist. I know, I know, pulling the "well my friend is a (insert profession) and he disagrees". But this man literally married my husband and I, if anyone was going to be honest with me it would be him. So I texted him and asked if their deep cleaning procedure requirement was standard practice or not. I was still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe this is a Washington thing (remember I'm not from here). He said no, that is incredibly odd and no wonder my insurance was fighting them on that because it just sounds like a way for them to make more money on procedures that aren't necessary. So needless to say, I never actually heard back from their office. And that's all well and good because I'm not going back there with that policy in place. I gave two stars because all the staff I encountered were kind and courteous. Even the main dentist who owns the practice was nice. But how nice could they be if they're implementing practices that they know aren't needed?

who knew they would charge for a no show!! 75 dollars you have to be kidding me dude!!! i could not…read moremake it to my appointment last minute due to work. what a joke

I went back 3 more times only to have his young family member - in-law - put more composite that would and did chip away. ALL I WANTED WAS COMPOSITE ON BACK SIDE OF TWO FRONT TEETH. I'm blowing off HS reunion because my teeth are worse than this picture. I have to get veneers now. Thanks Pak. Receptionist was nice. I noticed ALL positive reviews were made exactly 4 years ago. Cleanings Twice a year religiously, fillings, chipped teeth all services at Pak's office. Long story short, my Insurance offered a special at another office to get crowns with no out-of-pocket cost to me. Pak wanted $1000+ for crown work. I got the crown done at the other office yet still went back to Pak for all my other dental needs. YEAR+ after I had the new crown at the other office and RETURNED for several cleanings at Dr. Pak''s office. He decided that I should go back to the other office to resume my dental Care. I'm not sure if he felt disloyalty or the loss of money or ? For decades, I enjoyed the staff at his office. They are fabulous. I've known his hygienist since High School. I can't recommend him for the way I was treated. I'm not a rich man so I'm pretty sure anyone else would have taken a free service over paying $1000's of dollars. He doesn't seem to feel that way. ‍
