When I visited an oral surgeon for implant consultation, I was told that I need to take care of my gum disease first. I was shocked. I've never thought that I could be in this bad shape. But that's how I got to know Dr. Wu. My first treatment was a deep cleaning performed by Cindy, the best hygienist I've even known. Due to the pandemic, the cleaning was done on both sides in one day so the patients don't have to do Covid test twice and come back for the 2nd time. Even though I had to be on the dentist chair for 2 hours and my mouth was numb for a few hours, I felt great afterward. During the cleaning, Cindy tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible, and engaged some fun conversation so I don't feel stress. Cindy also gave me a lot of great tips for oral & gum care, which I didn't know before. On the check-up exam 5 weeks later, Dr. Wu was pleased with my gum's health. And I now can move forward with the implant, which I insisted to be performed by Dr. Wu. So, stay tuned for my next update about the implant. Went to Dr Nita Wu for burning mouth syndrome. She offered no help. Spent most of the time trying to convince me to try her Whole Foods Diet. Frankly, she knew that there was virtually no treatment for my BMS, but accepted the appointment anyway. Plus, she is expensive and accepts no insurance (and was not much help when I tried to make a Medicare claim and HealthNet claim.) $500 wasted. read more

This is a place holder until my implant is successfully completed. Other than Dr. Wu himself the rest of the people in this office I've dealt with so far seem to be incompetent. I've had to keep calling for the past three months for information, appointment, and insurance approvals, and the standard answer is "We will call you back", and other than Dr. Wu no one had called me back. As of now they've taken my initial exam fee (supposed to be reimbursed once they receive payment from my insurance, and of course they don't know the status), I've paid CT out of pocket (was told no appoint needed, and yes, I had to wait in line because I didn't make an appointment). Weeks after they've supposedly submitted insurance approval they still don't know any status (after I called last week and they promised to investigate and call me back). Now the only appointment they can offer is two months from now. And they ask me what I would prefer. I would prefer I could turn back the time and seek second opinion. read more

I have had periodontitis for decades--apparently it is genetic. Fortunately, a good friend is a famous oral surgeon in a foreign country. She has given me three implants. She gets a colleague, a professor at the main teaching hospital there, to do my routine periodontal work. So I know what good care is like. But when Covid came along, I could not get to her country. So I searched for the best care I could get in the Bay Area, and was referred to Dr. Wu by a teacher of oral medicine at Harvard. Dr. Wu's care is indeed the best there is--careful, meticulous, methodical, with no willingness to provide anything other than the best care possible. I too will not compromise on the quality of life that comes from good dental work, just as I would not settle for a mediocre oncologist. Dr. Wu and his staff are is the best there is. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been a patient of Dr. Nita Chainani Wu for 5-6 years. I usually see her on an annual basis and she has performed some procedures on me. She is one of the finest doctors. Every visit she listens, has empathy/compassion, basis her decisions on current science or medical research, and she is genuinely a sweet and kind person. If there were more doctors like her in the world, medical practice in the U.S would be a much better place. The office is very clean/new and takes covid precautions very seriously. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. I always have thought how a place of business can improve, I can think of non for this doctors office. They deserve the 5 stars and then some. read more

I recieved a gum graft procedure from Dr. Wu in January 2020 to deal with gum recession around a tooth in the front of my mouth. It was a very positive experience. He was very patient and thorough when going over cases and procedures and overall outgoing/really fun to talk to. Dr. Nina Wu also popped in sometimes to discuss procedures and she is amazing as well! He's definitely very experienced so the numbing injections and procedure itself were comfortable and seamless. Healing was very smooth and I love the results! I believe the cost was a little pricier compared to the other consultations I booked with doctors performing gum grafts but his precision and attention to detail make the cost completely worth it. read more

I was nervous at first, but they always provide me the information that I need to make decisions about my dental health without pressure. I've completed implant and grafting procedures with Dr. Wu, and they have all been done with care and precision, and all successful. Dr. Wu is very knowledgeable and professional. Dental Hygienist, Cindy, provides thorough cleanings and helpful tips for caring for sensitive gums. I had a front implant with Dr. Wu. I had to wait a year for the bone to grow back strong enough to support the implant which was out of anyone's control. Had to wear a retainer for a year with much inconvenience. The implant did turn out well in the end. One thing I did not like was that he told me my follow-up checkups were free, but they were not. I did not have any problems with my teeth and just showed up so he can take some pictures. My insurance would charged me $160 for a regular dentist checkup/cleaning. It counted against my 2 annual dentist cleanings. read more

My wife had her dental implant starting 6 months ago. Due to her dental condition, she needs times to build up stronger root before the implant surgery. During this process, Dr. Wu had been very patient and provided good service. My wife's implant had just been completed. She felt good about it. So, I decided to have my dental implant by Dr. Wu. I had the implant surgery last week. In one week, my recovery is very good. I had almost no pain now. Dr. Wu's office staff is also very friendly and helpful. Overall, I highly recommend their service for anyone who may want to have a dental implant. One thing that I did not do is to compare the price with others. So, I cannot comment on either it is expensive or not. read more

Tim Wu is extremely knowledgeable and patient in explaining complicated procedures. He is also personable and fun to talk to. And his work is first class. The front desk and scheduling side I think is more on the average side, but that is no reason not to seek Dr Wu's services. read more

Man, what a great experience here getting to meet & being one of Dr. Wu's patient!!! I came in needing periodontal/gum graphs with a laser treatment for my frenulum & Dr. Wu plus his staff were all really helpful/informative. My insurance was able to cover for half the cost & I had to pay the other half but it was well worth the price since this is the oral cavity we're talking about...it's important to keep it healthy so I can eat (Yelp) some more LOL I've been going to Dr. Wu since September 2015 & I got my procedure done in October 2015 which was great because the paperwork didn't take long at all! I'm still doing regular check-ups there for my gums but it's not scary at all, I look forward to going back for sure. Dr. Wu is very outgoing/kind & his staff are extremely friendly! While most people dread appointments with the dentist, I find myself looking forward to it because I enjoy my conversations and the laughter with Dr Wu. After the detailed consultation and overall planning, I had my dental implant surgery done in the March (for 4 front teeth). I was totally impressed by Dr. Wu's patience, skill, and expertise. Can't believe that there was no pain at all, and I stopped taking any pain killers on the 3rd day after the surgery. The wound recovered quickly which beyond my expectations. One thing that I like to mention is Dr. Wu's leadership and effort to bring in the best result for patients. I had a chance to observe the practice of Dr. Wu, as a dental school applicant. Many dental schools require job shadowing now. He seemed to have liked my resume and gave me the observing opportunity. Dr. Wu is a very smart, empathetic and incredibly skilled periodontist. He makes surgical procedures look very easy. I was amazed at how quick and skilled his hands were. His suturing ended up being very neat and perfect. His competence seems to breed his patients' confidence in him. The patients all seem to trust him, appreciate his work and go home happy. Two patients even thanked me even though I had only watched. He also explains patients' options well. He is a kind generous person. His practice is also very modern with the latest equipment. Members of the staff are very friendly, too. Dr. Nita Chainani-Wu is amazing as well. She specializes in oral medicine. I've observed her providing diagnosis and treatment for some of the most common adverse conditions in the mouth such as ulcers occuring due to various causes including infections. Some patients had suffered needlessly until they visited this office. Dr. Chainani-Wu is incredibly smart and knowledgeable in addition to being very kind. She seems to genuinely pride herself on giving her patients the best treatment possible. I've seen her obliterate leukoplakia (which untreated could gradually turn into cancer) with laser and it was an amazing feat. It seemed like a pretty easy procedure for the patient, taking less than an hour in the office. If you have suspicious whitish or reddish changes in your mouth, you should visit her. read more

Took my mom here, had a tooth pulled, she didn't feel a thing, she said it reminded her of "using chopsticks to pick up a piece of soft tofu". Afterwards she didn't require any pain meds at all either. She also said it seemed like the local anesthetic was really precise since she didn't have the big numb gummy mouth feeling at all. It was only the small area that needed to be numb was numb. It was an extruded molar, but was not loose by any means, if that makes a difference. Excellent bedside manner, great staff too. This is where I'll go if I need relevant dental work in the future. read more

Our experience was not that good with this office. The prescription medication we were given, pharmacist was surprised to see it as it was taken out of market few years back - The Dr. office never returned calls from the phrmacy. The lab tests ordered weren't ordered professionally, so lab guys had hard time finding out. The other problem is the Billing - which seems to be a mess. They expect you to pay upfront for first visit regardless of any supported insurance. The insurance doesn't like this practice given the fact that they are already in their network. So requires lot of follow ups to get the money back from the Dr. office since they get paid twice. read more

She is very diligent in her work, spends time reviewing information with you, is on top of the medical issue you are experiencing and provides insightful articles for you to read. Dr. Robert Chen highly recommended Dr. Wu for me to implant stronger root in order for his bracing treatment. So, I made an appointment on this morning with Dr. Wu. Yesterday, Dr. Wu called me and sent a prescription to CVS for me to take some medicine before this morning's surgery. This morning, I visited Dr. Wu's office, he was very nice and friendly. He completely explained me what he would do. He was very patient to clean my teeth and implant the bone, the surgery cost him almost three hours. During the surgery, Dr. Wu was very careful and patient to finish each step. For me, there was almost no pain at all. There were a few times I almost went to sleep. After the surgery, Dr. Wu was patient to explain what I should pay more attention to. Now, almost five hours passed, I didn't feel any pain even I didn't take any pain release medicine. Based on my experience, Dr. Wu is a perfect, very professional doctor. I definitely highly recommend Dr. Wu if you need professional, patient doctor. Also, I would like to thank Dr Wu's team, especially Gigi spent three hours to work with Dr. Wu during my surgery.
