My Fiancé and I, who are not dancers, were in search of a Dance Instructor who can create a simple, fun, elegant dance for our wedding that can be easy to learn. We did our homework and came across Joe on Yelp/Google. The positive reviews gave us the encouragement to book him as our Dance Instructor. To our pleasant surprise Joe was amazing. He created a dance that my Fiancé and I can be proud of. He took his time to help us understand the steps and rhythm to dancing. Not only this, but Joe also offers services to edit your song choice. The song my Fiancé and I chose was 10 minutes long and Joe was able to condense the song beautifully to a 4-minute version instead. Joe truly has a gift for hearing the music and creating a vision on how the song should be danced to. What we really enjoyed about having Joe as a Dance Instructor, is seeing his creative work take form. As he pieced together the dance, every creative idea was presented to us as an option. Depending on our confidence and skill level, it was nice that Joe included us to piece together a beautiful dance. Lastly, I want to speak on how kind and genuine Joe was throughout our dance lessons. Joe showed constant display of positive encouragement, he was very attentive to helping us become the best dancers that we can be. When working with Joe you truly feel a sense of pride and joy as he watches you perform the dance the he created from scratch. Furthermore, with every scheduled appointment he was always very professional with great enthusiasm to teach us every time, along with having a fun personable sense of humor. Needless to say, Joe ended up being exactly what my Fiancé and I needed, he surpassed all of our expectations. It truly does not matter where you are on the dancing spectrum, whether you are a beginner or advanced, Joe has the ability to create something special for you. We truly are grateful and very happy to have worked with him! read more

The very first time my fiancé and I met Joe, I told Joe I had two left feet. He told me not to worry and that he would help me find my right foot-- and he really did! I could never have imagined that I would be able to finish a dance routine to a full song but Joe made it possible. He is so patient and very talented. He visualizes the steps to the song and then knows exactly how to teach them to us. I am so very happy that we decided to do a dance routine for our first dance and even more happy that we found Joe to help us with it. Can't thank him enough! read more

My husband and I took 6 dance lessons with Joe to prepare for our first dance for our wedding! This was our first experience with ballroom dance so we were coming in as complete beginners. We did the song Perfect by Ed Sheeran (probably the most common wedding first dance song). Joe was able to choreograph and teach us a dance routine to the entire song in our six lessons. He was great to work with, taught in a way that was easy for us to learn as newbies and he gave us a lot of options of how we wanted the dance to be (ie if we wanted complex or simple moves in certain parts of the routine, what we wanted to repeat or if we wanted to do more new moves). There were a lot of fun twirls, lifts, and dips in our dance. We spent a lot of time practicing afterward what we learned and on our wedding day we definitely surprised many of our friends and family with an awesome first dance! Highly recommend!! read more

Joe and Sara are great instructors! We loved learning with them for our first wedding dance and they were able to take a person (me) who was tone deaf to learn how rhythm and beats to music work! They never make you do anything you are uncomfortable with and know how to make your partner and you dance cohesively and make it a great time! read more

Absolutely love Joe and Sara. Our friends got married first and when they did their first dance, I was sold, especially since my friend is harder to teach dance to. If they can do that for my two-left-feet friend, they must be wizards. Joe and Sara were very patient, genuine, and wonderful instructors. We weren't the most coordinated or comfortable with dancing especially since it will be in front of hundreds of other people. They gave us so many tips and accommodated us. They really know what they are doing. Simply putting the rhythm and dance moves in the lowest skill level for us. Hours are very convenient and flexible since they end late at night. Price is pretty up there but I really didn't want to waddle like a penguin for my first dance in front of everyone. Our family and guest wouldn't stop talking about how beautiful and elegant our first dance was. When I saw the videos and pictures of the dance, I honestly couldn't believe it was us. It was a great experience for us, wonderful performance for us, family and friends, and we looked amazing for our wedding. read more

Sara and Joe Swallow's dance classes are so helpful and professional. I was so nervous about going to dance lessons, but I have only been to one and I'm already ten times better. They offer lessons for a bunch of different types of dance (even for exercise). Sara was very patient and taught me at the pace that *I* was comfortable with. I can't believe they aren't on Yelp already. They were willing to work with my boyfriends and my budget without a pause and for that I'm truly thankful. If you need a dance instruction, go to these people. Thank you so much, Sara and Joe. We'll be back! read more

My fiance and I have had four dance lessons with Sara and Joe for the past few weeks in preparation for our wedding. My wife-to-be likes dancing, and I have never danced before. You can probably imagine my apprehension with going to a dance studio to learn how to. During our initial consultation and first lesson, Sara made it super easy and comfortable to learn. I felt at ease and found how nurturing, patient, and encouraging she is. My fiance and I really like her, and although the dance moves seemed very basic, as our "skills" progressed, she modified our dance routine to include more elaborate, romantic sequences. We knew she was customizing our dance based on how she felt we were doing, and encouraged creative collaboration. Our previous lesson added some mind-boggling moves and will require some practice, but we know that we'll be able to pull them off and wow our friends and family. I know I will -- after all, they have never seen me dance before. Will we screw up the sequences? Possibly. Will it matter? Not really. I just love the fact that I have some basic moves down at least! :) We have two lessons remaining to perfect our routine and timing as much as possible. Possible future lessons: hip hop? I need to learn how to do basic moves during non-ballroom type music. Joe has been great as well. Quite flexible with scheduling, and always welcoming and accommodating. He hasn't pressured us into anything, and we like that. All in all, Sara and Joe are great individuals -- we had the opportunity to talk a bit about their personal history, dance passion, and various business topics. Last week, one of my friends pointed out that they had hired Sara and Joe a few years ago to teach them their wedding dance too. And just like us, they liked their instructors as well. Highly recommended. They also do business as "Orange County Wedding Dance", Newport Beach. read more

I use to hide in the bathroom at social events afraid someone would ask me to dance. That was before I signed up for dance lessons at "Time - Out!" Dance. Sara and Joe got me moving and doing free style dance in just a few lessons. Sara's ability to brake a routine down into a sequence of easy to learn movements is just amazing. On top of that she is patient and encouraging and a phenomenal dancer herself. Now I'm out on the dance floor before anyone has a chance to ask me to dance and there is freed up room in the bathroom!!! Call Sara and Joe at 949 - 813 - 1102. I'm so glad I did!!! read more

My fiancee and I were going back and forth on whether or not we should take dance lessons for our wedding. We decided to do some research and we found "time out dance" because it was near where we lived. We set up an appointment with Joe and Sara. They were actually able to meet with us on a Sunday which was really cool. On our first meeting, we actually got a free lesson. Joe and Sara were actually great instructors... My fiancee and I don't know anything about ballroom dancing. It was actually pretty fun to learn how to dance. After our lesson, we decided to sign up with them. They choreographed a dance for our song, and we just practiced on our own after a few lessons. Our wedding is in September...I can't wait to show off what we learned!! read more

Joe & Sarah You guys are amazing! Our guest were amaze that we could dance... lol. I can't believe we pull it off. Both me and my wife has ZERO back ground on ball room dancing. Both Joe and Sarah instructed us base on our personality, and I must say.. it works! We had a 4 1/2 mint song. Didn't think we can pull it off and remember all the steps, 3 chores and 4 verses, but we did, thanks to Joe and Sarah! Price is extremely fair The dances were easy to remember (thanks to the way they teaches) The instructor is passionate at what they do Very patient Overall Best instructor I ever came across! Thank you once again!! Linda & Jason read more

Sarah and Joe are like the nicest couple on the planet! They are so fun to talk to. They are very passionate about what they do. They enjoy dancing and teaching very much. They are very patient with slow learners. Affordable price! My fiancee and I had a lot of fun taking their lessons! read more

Sara and Joe were incredibly patient and caring. My then fiancee and I had a combined NO experience dancing and wanted to learn a few steps for our first dance at our wedding reception. We provided our song and Joe choreographed some moves for us, then we slowly, but surely started learning and putting our own spin on things. Though we were initially shy about our inability to dance, Joe and Sara both made us feel comfortable, and so special! It allowed us the freedom to stumble through the early phases...ok the late phases as well, but we never felt like we were frustrating to teach. They were terrific, and on our big night we got rave reviews from our guests on the dance. Joe and Sara, thank you so very much for working with us, we can't wait to get the video back of the dance and we'll bring it to show you that you taught us well! read more

I can't speak for the other teachers but Joe is awesome and really easy going he great at explaining how to do steps so it clicks even for the most uncoordinated individuals. He even helped us build a routine to practice after we left. 5 star's. read more

I would highly recommend time out dance to anyone wanting to take dance lessons. The instructors, Joe and Sara are both patient and knowledgeable. They make the lessons super fun and really take the time to help you master the steps. I have been taking lessons with my boyfriend and we've both been reallly enjoying it. We love it so much that we're considering giving dance lessons with time-out dance as birthday and anniversary gifts. Regardless of your skill level they'll have you feeling confident on the dance floor very quickly! read more

Joe and Sara have been helping my fiance and I with a swing dance for our wedding and - I've taken a lot of dance classes with a lot of instructors over the years, and these two are the best. They work with you at the rate you can learn, and they are so creative with their choreography! read more

The short of it: - great dance instructors - perfect for first wedding dance lessons - flexible schedules - accommodates your skill level and vision The long of it: I've always wanted to take formal ballroom dancing lessons and what better opportunity than to do it for our first wedding dance. I wanted to do something a little more special other than just swaying from side to side for our first dance. Personally, I think its fun to be twirled and dipped especially on your wedding day! Am I right ladies??? We were referred here by my wedding planner and I'm so glad we decided to get dance lessons for our first dance! Joe and Sara are the dance instructors and they were such a pleasure to work with. They are very accommodating, flexible with their schedules, prices were reasonable and it was great to have instructors who were really genuinely interested in making your first dance perfect for you and your partner. If you've never had dance lessons before or have two left feet, its completely fine! Joe and Sara will work with you no matter what your skill level is and help create a dance that works for you. I was pleasantly surprised with our end product, it was better than I had ever imagined and we had a whole dance from beginning to end with dance moves I never thought we were capable of. It was a fun learning process and a unique and special way to enhance your first dance at your wedding. I highly recommend Joe and Sara, would definitely love to go back in the future to learn different types of dances for a fun date night activity! read more

If you are looking for dancing lessons of any kind of music and getting ready to impress and surprise your guests with great moves Sara and Joe will help you make it happen. My fiance and now husband when we started looking for someone that can teach us how to dance for our surprise wedding we contact Joe and he introduced us to Sara. What can I say about Sara? This woman has the patience of the world and great personality. I have never ever in my life taken any professional dance lessons. In the beginning I was so nervous but the way Sara modifies and explain every move step by step is amazing. My husband and I thought Uptown Funk would be a challenge for Sara since I found out she specialize on Ballroom. Sara is very creative she would listen closely to the song and made sure our moves would come out natural. She sure impressed me every time my husband and I had dance practice she was already prepared and ready to show us new moves. I like the way Joe supports Sara they both would dance together to show us how the move would look like, both work as a team. Im so happy we chose her to teach us how to dance. I did not only learned to dance through the teaching course of the lessons I was able to connect with my other half. Thank you Sara for your hard work and focusing on our needs. God Bless you. read more

The team of Joe and Sara Swallow are awesome! Dance lessons are not the most ideal way for me to spending my time on a weekend, especially during football season, but my girlfriend and I extremely enjoy the time spent in the studio. Even though only an hour we learn so much! From reviewing what we learned from the week before, to learning a new step, to finally putting them to together in a choreographed cohesive routine, I couldn't be more pleased. Joe and Sarah never fail to have me wanting more at the end of the hour and I am always looking forward going into each lesson wondering what we will learn next. Thank you Joe and Sara! You guys are the best! read more

Joe & Sara were amazing instructors. I entered their studio under a common pretense - my fiance loves to dance and I wanted to appear as if I could dance as well for our first dance together. Thanks to the patience, passion, and teaching skills of Joe and Sara, my wife and I were able to enjoy our 1st dance together. We are both grateful for Time-Out Dance studio! read more

My wife and I took lessons from Joe and Sara in early August. We were very happy with their professionalism, communication and dedication. Also, as inexperienced dancers, we both felt that Joe and Sara had the right amount of knowledge for dance, as well as patience for new learners. I think to do a dance right, you really need to have lessons, and Time Out is a place to get some great lessons from true professionals. I would certainly recommend to Time Out to other couples looking to rehearse a great wedding dance! read more

For our wedding, my fiancee wanted us to do a dance in front of our guests, but I had no experience dancing at all. Joe and Sarah at Time Out came highly recommended from my best man. They developed an understanding of our style and used that to advise on our song and style selection. They taught us the necessary basics, choreographed a dance to our song (adjusted to my capacity) and patiently guided me through it. I have also seen the development of other couples taking lessons with Joe and Sara and, regardless of style preference or beginning skill level, their improvement always makes an impression on me. read more

Sara and Joe are absolutely amazing at what they do and are amazing people! I came to Time-Out! to learn a dance for a friend's wedding. We only had one lesson to learn the dance and if it weren't for Sara and Joe's patience and teaching skills, we all may not have learned the dance so quickly. It does not matter if you are an avid, experienced dancer or if you come to Time-Out! for your first dance lesson, Sara and Joe make everyone who enters their doors feel welcomed and inspired! read more

Joe and Sara are the best. My fiancee and I needed a lot of help with our first dance, and Sara crafted a very manageable, yet still very fancy routine. Their attention to detail made sure that our dance would be very nice. We practiced everything from spins and dips to bows and greetings. They're prepared for everything. Sara even brought in a clothing item so my fiancee would have practice dancing in a dress similarly sized to her wedding dress. We had a lot of fun. They were very flexible, and the most important thing for them was that we have a good time and be confident with our dance. read more

My fiance and I signed up with Time Out Dance for last minute pre-wedding dance lessons and we love it! Joe and Sara are so nice and patient with us, we really enjoy learning from them. I was surprised by how much we learned in just one lesson, and now my fiance and I look forward to practicing our steps and twirls at home every night. We have two more sessions scheduled before our wedding, but I think dance lessons will be a fun date night activity even after the big event. read more

one word for Joe and Sara- FANTASTIC!!! My fiance and I had 4 weeks to prepare for our first dance. I had dance experience but never partner danced before and my then fiance had zero experience. Sara spent several sessions with us and was so incredibly patient and kind. She made us feel comfortable and enjoy the whole experience. Our wedding day was just a few days ago and our friends and family are still talking about our first dance. It was a moment I will never forget and will cherish in my heart forever. Thank you Sara and Joe for making this a reality for us, we are so grateful! If you are contemplating taking first dance lessons- DO IT! and do it with Sara and Joe I guarantee you will not regret it. We now will look great dancing together at other events :) read more

I have never had any type of dance lessons before, but have done a lot of other athletic sports. Starting to learn ballroom dance I felt very uncoordinated, and frustrated at first. Joe Swallow of Time-Out Dance and Sara Swallow of Orange County Wedding Dance were patient with me, and helped me turn my awkward steps into a graceful glide. Joe and Sara break down each dance step for me, and although I improved a little during my classes, what they taught me I was able to practice at home, and my improvement was dramatic. Thanks for all your help. read more

Joe and Sara were the best dance teachers we could ask for! They were so amazing and taught us to dance! Not only did I take lessons with my fiancé, but also with my dad for our father-daughter dance! Sara's choreography was creative, fun, and easy to learn. Not only was Sara patient and super kind, but she is so talented! She had a calm and friendly way of teaching the dance moves that made us confident! We started dance lessons about four months before our wedding and it was well worthy it! We had such a blast working with Sara and Joe and they made dancing contagious! We can't wait to go back! Thank you for making this such a memorable and enjoyable experience! You are by far the best! read more
