CABINETS - We think we got an excellent value at Oxley. The cabinets we chose were a higher end type they market, Marsh Apex cabinets. These were made with plywood cases, which I specified because they are going to be more durable than waferboard or particleboard ones. We looked at the different lines Oxley offered and liked the sturdy corner bracing and hefty cabinet full suspension drawer hardware on the Marsh Apex line. We purchased soft close hardware and it seems luxurious to us. We purchased a full kitchen and also vanities for two bathrooms for an installed price that was remarkably low, we thought, less than $11,000. That price included tear out and haul away of the old cabinets and counters also. Terrific value!
SALESPERSON - Jerry Brand'l was our salesperson. He is personable and quite knowledgeable about cabinetry, design considerations, and details of space utilization. You might not think that there's much for the salesperson to know, but we benefitted from his expertise. Throughout the process, he kept us informed and his word was always good. Unfortunately, in other purchases we have experienced a certain lack of concern about responding to customers. Not so with Jerry. He reliably returned calls and never seemed bothered by our questions. He measured our kitchen and pointed out where, for example, it would be necessary to add a 1/2 inch spacer so the drawers would come out without binding to a wall that wasn't as straight as we had thought. That's the kind of thing that would have been extremely irritating if he hadn't caught it. Experience and attention to detail counts.
INSTALLER - Jim Ross removed the old cabinets and installed the new ones. We feel we lucked out with him. This guy is an astonishing worker. By himself, he worked with high efficiency. Don't get the impression that he was cutting corners when I say he was efficient. He has in depth knowledge of his trade from years of experience and knows all the tricks to make the process go smoothly. When it was time to install, the first thing he did was to measure all the cabinets provided to ensure the order was correct. It turned out that an extra cabinet had been sent. There are trim pieces and hardware items that all will need to be correct if the installation is to go smoothly. Jim has all the skills needed and worked diligently from the moment he started. In fact, he apologized that he was staying so long (at almost 11 PM!) and said he'd be back the next day early. And he was! One of the drawer fronts did not have a uniform look. The factory had used some cherry which had more figuring than the others, and my wife didn't like it. Oxley immediately ordered a new drawer front. Jerry didn't imply by word or tone of voice that we should accept less than what we hoped for. That's the kind of thing that raises Oxley above the others. Jim had to come back to install that and also to install some additional crown molding, and he did so most cheerfully. I have an extremely high opinion of this fellow and if I were a businessperson, I would be delighted to have him working for me in any capacity.
OVERALL - The kitchen and bathrooms were wonderfully improved, and the price, as already stated, was reasonable. We believe the Marsh Cabinetry is solid and will be a source of enjoyment and pride for many years. Before moving to Florida, we had a kitchen updated with merely a cabinet facing job, and the cost was far higher. At this low cost, you will not be sorry to proceed with a kitchen or bath remodel. The Oxley experience, thanks to Jerry and Jim, was very positive. We recommend them without reservation.
