He walked out from the back with just the expired battery he removed from my watch to show me. So, I said, "No, I want to see the package of the NEW battery you're putting in, so I know it's NOT EXPIRED." He returned with his supply (i.e., 2 batteries: both expired 2020). I asked him for my $15 back, and he REFUSED because he said I did not have my receipt. Then, to make matters worse! ... on my Google 1-STAR Review of LIPPA's he lied, saying he "could not find my name anywhere in his computer system" ~ trying to make it appear as if I had the wrong Jewelry Store (funny... He never did ask for my name today; he simply stated without my yellow receipt, he would not REFUND ME $15 for dishonestly placing an EXPIRED 2020 WATCH BATTERY in my wrist watch) A THIEF is a THIEF (thieves always lie; they have, or they get caught) and a LIE is a LIE: a Tiger doesn't change their stripes, no matter how big, or small their kill is. LIPPA's does NOT DESERVE Anyone's BUSINESS, or TRUST. ~ I suppose if I walked in with an expensive suit & tie to buy an engagement ring, he would have had the decency to behave himself better & not steal from someone 65 y.o. on a fixed income. Our daughter suffers from two forms of arthritis. One is specifically in her knees, and her shoes are crucial. Went in there the first guy we had to deal with was very inattentive yawning not asking any kind of question. Kind of a bump on the Lodge kind of guy. I tried to explain she has two forms of arthritis. He said that's not a big deal no concern. I stated it most definitely is a huge concern and it is a big deal. Look through a bunch of clothing and I had decided we were not going to be buying sneakers that day. We're gonna wait until somebody else with more knowledge would be there and help us. I did poke my head in the back room saw two ladies sitting back there one lady who is black haired glasses on the heavier side, only describing her just so you know to avoid her... snapped at me and stated he's very knowledgeable and went about our business. Put the clothing up on the counter and another man little older came over and said did you need some help and I stated that I did because the first guy was not very helpful at all and he redid all of the evaluation of her legs, her feet to the way she walked, and so on. I explained once again she had the arthritis issues and he said we can definitely put her in the right kind of shoe. We chatted and he said she most definitely needed to be in a neutral shoe. She walked around in it, and it felt comfortable, and we purchased them and a bunch of other clothing. She started running and field hockey with these shoes on, and every day would come home complaining that our cabs were aching. Her legs were hurting. They felt like she was running with blocks on her feet. I googled the type of shoe he put her in and sure enough. It was a stability shoe. She most definitely cannot wear stability. She needed a neutral. I called the store, asking to speak to the store manager or the store owner. The person on the other end stated he was the owner. I said oh good and I explained the whole situation and he said yeah that was me. I helped you I remember you. I said will you put her in a stability issue not the neutral that you said she most definitely needed. He stated oops. I said oops that's not an option, I said you have created some more leg issues that she truly did not need. He said I said oops are you bringing them back or what? I said wow OK, yes I'm bringing them back. He said how long before you'll be here? I said I'll be there shortly. I walk into the store he spotted me, turned around, went and hid in the back room !!!! A very sweet lady short haired brown haired lady with glasses came over and said are you returning these? I said yes I am! she said is everything OK? My response was no everything is not OK. Explain the whole story to her and she said well if you would like to bring her back in I would love to work with you. I said I had you in the beginning. Everything probably would've been different, however, the way that the owner responded and treated me I will never give this man another dime of my money!!! Buyer beware avoid the store ! The lady stated you have a long, huge history of purchasing with us. I said yes we have spent a ton of money here only to be treated like this so I will never be back.!!!

The young woman at the counter was pleasant and she spent a little time checking things a few things out. She said she was unable to find the issue, and said she would need to bring it back to the bench to look at it. In all honesty, she did briefly mention a $45 bench fee. She said to come back within 20 minutes and she should have it fixed by then. That surprised me because she said she didn't know what was wrong with it. When I came back to pick it up, the owner (?) was at the counter and charged me $48+. I asked what was wrong with it, and she said it was a bad plug. I was shocked by the price, and queried, " You're going to charge me $48 for a $3 plug and work that would've taken about five minutes?" Her reply was curt and somewhat rude. She told me that they had to cover their bills somehow. To me, this was terrible customer service. It is my theory that the young lady at the counter could tell right away that it was just the plug when she examined it. I felt scammed. I would've happily bought a plug from them and done it myself if I only I had known. It would have been good customer service if she would have worked with me, but this woman was unwilling to budge. I tried communicating with them through email, asking if we could come to some sort of compromised bill. No one ever responded to any of my emails. Poor customer service doesn't pay in the end, but I had to!! $48 was a lot of money out of my very limited income.

Something extraordinary happened on the first day of our anniversary trip to Shelburne, VT. We stopped at Matthew Taylor's jewelry shop, which also was the house where my wife's grandmother lived many years ago. It was open so we were able to go inside. She showed me where they would have Easter dinner, and told me her grandmother loved jewelry, and had given her some. She brought some pieces with her on the trip. She and Matthew talked about the house and town. He was friendly and gracious. I then took my wedding ring out of my pocket; it was in a little box instead of on my hand as it was in pieces due to a failed attempt to resize it by another jeweler. It's a "tricky infinity ring," with a number of garnets. Before we came in, as the sign said, "repairs," I took my ring out of my bag and put it in my pocket, just in case he could fix it. My wife wanted to see it on my hand. A lengthy discussion ensued, during which I assured him that it was worth the risk and I was willing to take it, and he finally agreed to try the first step, to join the ends, after describing various methods. It worked. Amazingly easily, to me. Then the next step, lasering it closed. Then he put a couple stones back in. That left one still be to replaced, which had previously broken in the failed attempt. So he had us look through a tray of stones he had, and we searched for a pink stone to match the pink stones in Denise's bands. He found one and said, "this wants to pop right in." And it did. It seemed effortless, which often is when a master craftsman works. So, in the house of my wide's grandmother, who loved jewelry, and gave her jewelry she wears to this day, this kind and skilled artisan took the time and fixed my wedding band, on the day of our 15th wedding anniversary, and now the ring is whole, and changed, with a connection to her rings, and more meaningful than before. Just like marriage should be. Synchronicity. Peace.
