Located on the main drag on rte 9 in "downtown" Schroon Lake. My best friend, Mud Magnet (formerly known as Locomotive Breath) and I recently stopped in. Home cooked specials were listed on a menu board behind the bar. MM opted for the baked ziti. I had Shepard's pie. I got the impression that large quantities were premade, and then nuked. Whatever the process was, it worked. MM liked his entry, as did I. Piping hot, nice quantity, fair price. One additional thing to mention. The owner has a huge Christmas village on display (rivals my sister's). On shelves on walls, on stands on the floor. Makes you feel like a little kid again (in my case, no need to include the word "again". I always feel like a little kid)! 3 and 1/2 stars, and definitely a "locals" bar. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday night. It was fairly slow with just a handful of locals. The interior has a rustic feel to it. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The menu prices were quite reasonable. I got the blue cheese burger and it was excellent. It might not be the fanciest restaurant in town but the Timberwolf Pub hit the spot. read more

As others Yelpers have said, this place is iconic here in town, specifically for its karaoke. You'd expect it to be full of Japanese businesspeople, but no, mostly happy locals. Their holiday decorations don't come close to the old Grandma's of Albany, but add much festivity to the town. Inflatable Santas and snowmen stand guard outside. I've never had food here, and will update when I do. Otherwise, standard bar drinks. Service has always been quick and polite for me! read more

Stopped here after hiking. Bartender very friendly and helpful. I had split pea soup; very tasty. The hot wings were a hit mild for my taste and a tad undercooked. Aimée and Marissa got the giant tots (can't remember their name) which they said were good. read more

Stopped in Schroon Lake for lunch. Saw a bunch of bikes parked out by The Timberwolf Pub, so we figured it's gotta be a good lunch spot. We walked into an empty bar, so I jokingly asked the barkeep "Where is everyone??" He wasn't amused, and sourly said: "I don't know; it's not my turn to watch them." And then: "Do you want a drink?" Ummm, no. No, we don't. I'm sure there's another lunch spot that will be happy to take our money. See ya! read more

The bartender was obnoxiously rude. This bar is below average and not worth the buck.

I stopped for lunch after a morning of skiing at Gore Mountain...easy going atmosphere and friendly staff...I had the chicken salad and soup special which chased with two Switchback lagers on tap...all this for under $20!...the lunch was very good...I recommend this friendly tavern. read more

This bar is a staple in the town of Schroon. They have great beers on tap and there's always something entertaining going down. The snowy Christmas scene that lines the shelves and the stuffed animals above the bar give this place character! I've never experienced the cold shoulder or had a "rude experience" as others have stated, but we've always had a woman bartender. Karaoke is the night to come here! read more

Went to this bar for a karaoke night and when we walked In got attitude from the lady bartender right away! This is not a place to go for a drink any night and doesn't deserve any service from anyone. If you are trying to get horrible service and attitude from all the workers this is the place for you! read more

Wow, does this place suck. Looks kind of decent from the outside. One of the coldest bartenders ever, seemed like he didn't have the time of day. Must have been real busy, with a whopping three other customers in the bar. To be fair, they seemed to be buddies and I think he was trying to get lucky with one of the guys. We ordered drinks- beer was fine, he had a real issue trying to make a vodka on the rocks tho. Maybe he was trying to keep the ingredients straight while thinking about giving his pal a massage later. Interior of the place has cheap metal stools, generic bar, bad taxidermied wolves at weird locations, and a ton of those stupid kitschy little village collectibles that belong at a garage sale. Looked at the food menu- pretty boring and considering the rest of the place we left even though we were both hungry. On the way out, one of them said to my wife (guess they didn't have the stones to say it to me) "Hope the weather's nice back in Connecticut." Guess that's what passes for an insult to those yokels. The joke is that not only are we not from CT, but actually we own property within 20 miles and have been looking for a good local spot. Definitely will not be coming back here. Can't see how this grumpy dump has been open for 10 years as one of their signs says. It doesn't even have enough character to pass for a dive (and I love dives). Plus there are great places to hang out within walking distance (ahem like next door which is a really cool spot). read more

Well I wish our experience was as good as the other review. We had lunch on a weekend and the service was terrible. There was a party of 7 and the waiter wouldn't tell us the specials. He said, they're one the board if you want to know. I kid you not! He wanted us to all walk over and read them ourselves. The atmosphere was good but with unkind service nothing can really salvage the experience. read more

By far the best pub around in the area. Great fun at night and a good family lunch or dinner spot during the day.

Stopped here with a group of six for dinner based on the one existing review. While it is a fine bar, it is not a restaurant. Menu consisted of fried and breaded whatever. The waitress/bartender was nice enough and the drinks were good and inexpensive. Except for the bar which takes up 2/3 of the room, seating was limited. Decor was assorted animal heads and a large old Christmas wreath lying against a wall. I suspect this place is great for local color but we didn't stay for dinner. read more
