We booked our helicopter tour with Timberview Helicopters. We chose the 20-minute coastal tour and checked in 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Our weight was checked, and we waited for our turn. We had the opportunity to take a helicopter tour, and the pilot was excellent at providing stunning views of the surroundings and pointing out key landmarks. He engaged in conversation, even recommending restaurants nearby. We enjoyed the helicopter ride, particularly the toddler's first experience. read more

Researched several places and chose this one-so glad we did! Everything -- website, order/booking, customer service, on-site location, flight and pilot--all were top-notch and professional. One plus that is a personal preference: their website didn't push for a tip online before the experience. We did tip at the conclusion of the ride. Pilot made us feel at ease, shared interesting info about landmarks as we flew by them, etc. We do recommend the private charter option if you can swing it. The helicopters do have doors/are enclosed and seat a passenger up front and 2 in back. (Possibly 3 in back?) The best part was seeing the marine life in the water as we flew over: dolphins, fish and even a shark! Would definitely do again and we plan to add this to our next trip to the area. read more

Worthy of even more stars. What an experience. With my husband we decided to take the Jaws flight. Truly, spectacular. Captain was friendly and interactive sharing lots of history and information about Destin. Had no idea Jaws 2 was filmed and Jerry Jones has a home in Destin. Lifetime of a fun memory for our first helicopter ride! Thanks JSX! You are awesome. read more

We had a phenomenal experience with Timberview Helicopters. The pilot especially was so kind and uplifting (pun intended). we have experienced many helicopter rides in many states and enjoyed all of them, but this one was a huge let down. my advice is Don't waste your money. we choose the 20 mile tour and it had to have been the shortest 20 mile coastal tour ever offered. 385.00 later...we were up and down in less than 10 minutes. we feel duped, and just don't want anyone else to feel the same. The "reefs" they so boldly boast about are man made ( I am sure by them) In the shape of a Diamond and a Star. my first thought was this is a joke, ok where is the real reefs, but sadly no such thing. hope this review is helpful to those contemplating spending their hard earned dollars on something that is truly worth it. read more

Excellent experience!! Our pilot and all the staff were professional and friendly. We took the dolphin run, which was a 30 mile round trip along the coast. It was a smooth ride the whole time as we viewed the beautiful water and shoreline. We spotted several sharks in the water, a couple of manta rays, and some cool man-made reefs in the shape of a sand dollar, a dolphin, and a seahorse. The ride lasted about 25 minutes, which was enough for some pictures and to just sit back and enjoy the ride and the beautiful views. Highly recommend! read more

The tour is pretty short but worth every minute! You really have a lot to soak in during the flight. If you're not the social media type, I highly recommend you put your phone/camera down and enjoy the flight! Absolutely beautiful!!!! From the ocean, the marine life, the town, the white sand, etc. there's a groupon as well for up to three ppl or you can call in and it's still the same price. read more

Wow what the hell?!? Helicopter rides are a crazy fun/scary thing to do!! It was my wife's 40th birthday and I wanted to do something big other than a nice restaurant...obviously we do that too often! I was pretty nervous, and managed to keep it a surprise until we pulled into the parking lot. She got very excited and very nervous...was a lot to take in! Lol The place was running about an hour behind...luckily there was an empty snack machine on the property. Once we were called up, we were loaded onto a golf cart and driven over to the chopper, took a photo in front of it, then we were helped inside. It took off fast, we were over the beach in a matter of seconds...we took the "Jawz" package which was around 25 minutes long or so...was plenty really. The views were incredible! What a beautiful beach...clear blue waters, white sand....so much nicer then what we have in Galveston!! We had so much fun it was a total Adrenalin rush, def would have gotten 5 stars, but at the very end we hit what the pilot called an "air pocket", we dropped down 20 or 30 feet then the nose of the chopper pointed down. I saw the pilot pull back pretty hard on the controls. I was very scared, and the wife almost ripped the skin off of my leg. We leveled back out and the pilot simply grinned and said "whoops, those air pockets can be tricky" It was an amazing experience and I am happy to have done it, but once was enough for me!!! read more

We really enjoyed this experience. We went on the 12 mile experience and were able to be taken alongside the beach and had some main attractions pointed out to us. Having this view of the Destin was a nice end to our vacation. I love the ease of how the helicopter lifted straight up into the air and got going. I would love to do a longer tour next time! We were able to get the groupon price by calling the facility instead of buying the Groupon because it requires 48 hours advanced reservation. read more

This was my first time going up a helicopter by choice. Haha! They have many types of tour packages. They have a VERY VERY SHORT ride that's affordable. And it gets more expensive the longer you want to be up in the air. Again we chose the affordable package. There were four of us in the party. Here's how it went: They took our payment. Then they answered any and all questions we have. This included a safety briefing. Which really was not much. It included how to approach the helicopter and water safety. It was brief! They also weighed us. I got the "short straw" and got to sit in the front probably because I was the most heavy. It made me feel like I was riding a roller coaster. I got to see from the pilot's perspective. The only things I didn't like was the fact that it was way too short of a ride and that I felt the "G's" whenever the pilot had to turn. It made me feel a little queasy and that I literally just finished lunch before we got on the helicopter. I recommend not eating before the ride; it will make you feel better. No one threw up, but there is a potential for it if you did. What I like: The pilot was competent. We arrived safely. The view was amazing! The ride was very comfortable. The pilot gave us as much comments as much as we needed and not more. What I didn't like: it was expensive. The ride was short. The smell of fuel was overwhelming at times. Overall my wife and friends had a good time. If I could afford it, I would've chosen the longer tour package. Since it was my first time, it was pretty fun! read more

Had a great deal through groupon for my boyfriend and I! Two rides for the 12 mile tour for $119. The site was easy to find and easy to book. The pilot justin was very accommodating with our schedule and prompt for our arrival. We had amazing views... Saw Dolphins and a shark! The only disappointment was the length of time in the air. From take off to landing it was 15 mins tops. Not sure if that's normal or just cause of the Groupon. If we hadn't gotten the deal, I wouldn't have felt like it was worth the money. read more

I bought a Groupon for the 12 mile tour and sooo glad I did! First, we were greeted by Ashley (sp?) who was so welcoming and chatted with us like we knew each other from way back while we waited for our tour. Then just a few short minutes later our ride showed up with the amazing pilot Lisa at the controls! Lisa, thanks for such an awesome tour and making sure hubby and I got some great views!!! We saw sharks and dolphins and a sea turtle too! It was awesome and we loved every second of it and wish we had a longer tour! For anyone that sees the Groupon for either the 6 or 12 mile tour, most definitely get the 12 mile! You will NOT be disappointed!!! We scheduled The Jaws tour, for a little over $200 for 2 people. The address is not where you get the helicopter. Follow the service road around and look for the signs. We arrived at the location at the scheduled time only to learn that a large group in front of us had upgraded on site and would bump us back about an hour or so. The young lady at the boarding site is not the same person who you speak to to pay and schedule. The disconnect resulted in us canceling and going with Beach Helicopter tours. Beach is a 4 out of 5, and they explain - it's walk up, with a schedule, and they'll call you when it gets close to your time. read more

This is our second year for a helicopter run. The pilot is so nice and very informative. What a great experience for my family and memories to cherish forever. Timberview Helicopters - 1st time in helicopter! Couldn't have picked a better tour company or pilot!!! - Aerial Tours Near Me - Destin, Florida

The helicopter ride was the best i have ever experienced. Our pilot was Rueben and he was so funny and great

Took My Mom on a tour with this company. This was my moms first time in a helicopter and on her bucket list. I wanted it to be special for her. We did the sunset trip for 35 min called the Destin tour. I don't think she stopped smiling for 3 days or could call enough friends to tell them about it. This is a must do or should I say mother approved. We loved our pilot he was very nice and fun to interact with. read more

I scheduled a tour with Timberview Helicopter and was charged $150.00 only to be told that they could not fly that day. It's been over a month -- I've called, e-mailed, and text messaged and they have refused to issue me a refund, they have outright stolen money from me. I recommend that everyone fly through River's Edge Aviation instead, I had a wonderful experience there. read more

My wife bought a "Groupon" for a Timberview Helicopters tour of the Destin beach area. We went up on a windy day, so I wasn't hoping for much as far as the scenery along the beach, realizing that the surf would have "muddied up" the water. But our pilot (female...can't remember her name) did a fantastic job focusing on the most scenic areas along the beach through our 20-minute tour. She even found a group of seven dolphin and did a circle around them while we shot a few pictures. As a private pilot with over 30 years in civilian aviation, and a retired Air Force navigator, I guess you could call me a professional aviator. And I found their operation to be top-notch. The pilot and I talked for about half an hour before we took off (we were waiting to takeoff near sunset), and she was a highly-experienced former military "chopper" pilot. I really enjoyed our tour, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in a "special date" or good family air tour of the Destin/Okaloosa Island area. The only reason I rated Timberview Helicopters a "4" instead of a "5" is that they operate out of the Destin Airport (main office), and it's a bit out of the way, and might be harder for non-locals to find. But honestly, it's worth driving a few extra blocks to enjoy this...they do a great job. (Update: they've recently begun to operate off a barge in Destin Harbor...I'll have to try that). If you're interested in taking this tour, I have a few suggestions: - Do it when the wind is light to moderate, or out of the North. When the wind it out of the north the Gulf settles down to "dead flat," and you can really see well into the water from above. There are TONS of "big fish" that swim along the Destin shoreline, especially later in the afternoon as the sun settles down closer to the horizon. And you have a better chance of seeing them, or seeing other marine life, like dolphins, when the water is flat. - If you'd like to see a fantastic sunset, go on a day when there are a few clouds on the western horizon, and when the winds are light (or again, out of the north). Ask the pilot to take off about 10 minutes before sunset so you're up and ready when the colors peak, and you'll still have plenty of light to see marine life below the surface. - Take a camera, a sweater (if it's cool) and sunglasses. - I would recommend you wear some sort of "closed toe" shoes for safety - One passenger seat in front, two in back. They can leave the doors off the helicopter if you wish. But if the back doors are closed and youre in there, it can get warm...be prepared for air sickness. read more

We scheduled and paid for a tour with Timberview Helicopters in Kansas City but the pilot never showed up for the tour. We received an email confirmation for our tour which was scheduled for 2:30 PM on Saturday, and we ended up driving over an hour to get to the downtown airport where the tour was supposed to take place. Once we arrived at the airport, we waited around for over 30 minutes but the pilot never showed up. We ended up calling the owner of the company, and he said they don't even have a pilot scheduled to be in Kansas City at all that weekend. The owner said there was also one other helicopter ride scheduled in Kansas City for the same day, but it would not make sense for them to send a pilot from Florida to Kansas City for only two helicopter rides. I agree, but why even schedule rides for a day when there will not be a pilot around to give tours? When we were on the phone with the owner he said he would issue a refund, but it's been nearly a week and we still haven't been able to get ahold of anyone to process the refund. The same lady who was so quick to schedule our tour is not responding to emails or calls when asked about the refund. I would not recommend anyone book through this company. They have outright stolen money from us and they don't seem to have any intention of issuing us a refund for a tour they never provided. read more
