Excellent experience!! Our pilot and all the staff were professional and friendly. We took the dolphin run, which was a 30 mile round trip along the coast. It was a smooth ride the whole time as we viewed the beautiful water and shoreline. We spotted several sharks in the water, a couple of manta rays, and some cool man-made reefs in the shape of a sand dollar, a dolphin, and a seahorse. Wow what the hell?!? Helicopter rides are a crazy fun/scary thing to do!! It was my wife's 40th birthday and I wanted to do something big other than a nice restaurant...obviously we do that too often! I was pretty nervous, and managed to keep it a surprise until we pulled into the parking lot. She got very excited and very nervous...was a lot to take in! Lol The place was running about an hour behind...luckily there was an empty snack machine on the property. Once we were called up, we were loaded onto a golf cart and driven over to the chopper, took a photo in front of it, then we were helped inside. It took off fast, we were over the beach in a matter of seconds...we took the "Jawz" package which was around 25 minutes long or so...was plenty really. The views were incredible! What a beautiful beach...clear blue waters, white sand....so much nicer then what we have in Galveston!! We had so much fun it was a total Adrenalin rush, def would have gotten 5 stars, but at the very end we hit what the pilot called an "air pocket", we dropped down 20 or 30 feet then the nose of the chopper pointed down. I saw the pilot pull back pretty hard on the controls. I was very scared, and the wife almost ripped the skin off of my leg. We leveled back out and the pilot simply grinned and said "whoops, those air pockets can be tricky" It was an amazing experience and I am happy to have done it, but once was enough for me!!! read more

This was my first time going up a helicopter by choice. Haha! They have many types of tour packages. They have a VERY VERY SHORT ride that's affordable. And it gets more expensive the longer you want to be up in the air. Again we chose the affordable package. There were four of us in the party. Here's how it went: They took our payment. Then they answered any and all questions we have. This included a safety briefing. Which really was not much. It included how to approach the helicopter and water safety. It was brief! They also weighed us. I got the "short straw" and got to sit in the front probably because I was the most heavy. It made me feel like I was riding a roller coaster. I got to see from the pilot's perspective. The only things I didn't like was the fact that it was way too short of a ride and that I felt the "G's" whenever the pilot had to turn. It made me feel a little queasy and that I literally just finished lunch before we got on the helicopter. I recommend not eating before the ride; it will make you feel better. No one threw up, but there is a potential for it if you did. What I like: The pilot was competent. We arrived safely. The view was amazing! The ride was very comfortable. The pilot gave us as much comments as much as we needed and not more. What I didn't like: it was expensive. The ride was short. The smell of fuel was overwhelming at times. Overall my wife and friends had a good time. If I could afford it, I would've chosen the longer tour package. Since it was my first time, it was pretty fun! read more

My wife bought a "Groupon" for a Timberview Helicopters tour of the Destin beach area. We went up on a windy day, so I wasn't hoping for much as far as the scenery along the beach, realizing that the surf would have "muddied up" the water. But our pilot (female...can't remember her name) did a fantastic job focusing on the most scenic areas along the beach through our 20-minute tour. She even found a group of seven dolphin and did a circle around them while we shot a few pictures. As a private pilot with over 30 years in civilian aviation, and a retired Air Force navigator, I guess you could call me a professional aviator. And I found their operation to be top-notch. The pilot and I talked for about half an hour before we took off (we were waiting to takeoff near sunset), and she was a highly-experienced former military "chopper" pilot. I really enjoyed our tour, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in a "special date" or good family air tour of the Destin/Okaloosa Island area. The only reason I rated Timberview Helicopters a "4" instead of a "5" is that they operate out of the Destin Airport (main office), and it's a bit out of the way, and might be harder for non-locals to find. But honestly, it's worth driving a few extra blocks to enjoy this...they do a great job. (Update: they've recently begun to operate off a barge in Destin Harbor...I'll have to try that). If you're interested in taking this tour, I have a few suggestions: - Do it when the wind is light to moderate, or out of the North. When the wind it out of the north the Gulf settles down to "dead flat," and you can really see well into the water from above. There are TONS of "big fish" that swim along the Destin shoreline, especially later in the afternoon as the sun settles down closer to the horizon. And you have a better chance of seeing them, or seeing other marine life, like dolphins, when the water is flat. - If you'd like to see a fantastic sunset, go on a day when there are a few clouds on the western horizon, and when the winds are light (or again, out of the north). Ask the pilot to take off about 10 minutes before sunset so you're up and ready when the colors peak, and you'll still have plenty of light to see marine life below the surface. - Take a camera, a sweater (if it's cool) and sunglasses. - I would recommend you wear some sort of "closed toe" shoes for safety - One passenger seat in front, two in back. They can leave the doors off the helicopter if you wish. But if the back doors are closed and youre in there, it can get warm...be prepared for air sickness. read more

We scheduled and paid for a tour with Timberview Helicopters in Kansas City but the pilot never showed up for the tour. We received an email confirmation for our tour which was scheduled for 2:30 PM on Saturday, and we ended up driving over an hour to get to the downtown airport where the tour was supposed to take place. Once we arrived at the airport, we waited around for over 30 minutes but the pilot never showed up. We ended up calling the owner of the company, and he said they don't even have a pilot scheduled to be in Kansas City at all that weekend. The owner said there was also one other helicopter ride scheduled in Kansas City for the same day, but it would not make sense for them to send a pilot from Florida to Kansas City for only two helicopter rides. I agree, but why even schedule rides for a day when there will not be a pilot around to give tours? When we were on the phone with the owner he said he would issue a refund, but it's been nearly a week and we still haven't been able to get ahold of anyone to process the refund. The same lady who was so quick to schedule our tour is not responding to emails or calls when asked about the refund. I would not recommend anyone book through this company. They have outright stolen money from us and they don't seem to have any intention of issuing us a refund for a tour they never provided. read more
