Georges Burgers and Subs - Cross-section of my combo sub

I was delighted to see this location in Steinbach after I had visited the Dollarama a few doors down. This eatery is across from Booster Juice. I needed to grab dinner. I did a search online to check out the menu. One reviewer indicated that this place is heavy-handed on the mustard when you order a sub. I find that mustard can overpower everything, so i decided to go with light mustard. This eatery is located in a plaza. I backed into a spot steps away from the entrance. It had a great deal on a fatboy (burger) combo. I was in the mood for a sub, but made a mental note about this deal. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Nishan, a friendly man behind the counter. I located the sub that I saw during my menu research and ordered it. I got the combo sub. I like that there's only one size, which is roughly a footlong. It simplified placing my order. This sub had ham, spiced ham, salami, lettuce, onions, tomato, mayo, mustard, cheese and sub sauce. I asked that I get light mustard on the sub. He nodded. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and all was great. He let me know that it would take five minutes to make my sub. It was perfect for me to browse and take photos. You can dine in. There were a few tables and chairs. He had another colleague who made my sub and made sure that light mustard was applied. I loved that both cared about this detail. It didn't take long to make my sub. He wrapped it up and handed it over to me. I thanked both of them and happily left with my dinner. I got back to my hotel room, which took less than five minutes to drive there, even with construction, to chow down. This combo sub was excellent. I loved all the ingredients, which tasted yummy and fresh. The onions were diced and I loved them. I didn't experience that onion burn when they are sliced thick and are raw. This sub is like my beloved assorted sub from Mr Sub, but a bit fancier with tomatoes and onions. The mustard as a standard was also different. Light mustard works nicely. I'm sure that if you had a distain for this condiment that you could ask that it be held. It was great having food from Original Georges for the first time. I'd come back for more when I'm in the area. (235)

But this one here in Winnipeg is unique, local, soulful, rich, and mystical. I was going to criticize the soup being too little, but after devouring the last bite, I realized it was perfect, and most other ramen has too much. The service and artful ambiance are delightful and authentic. Beyond that, I'm speechless.

First-nation-inspired bites with a modern and eclectic ambiance makes for a terrific dining experience. The first time I had the poutine with bison and a sweetgrass lemonade. These were twice as appetizing as they sound, and do they ever sound appetizing. So impressed was I from this first visit that I not only slipped into a strange, passive voice for the last few sentences, but also that I returned for lunch the next day. On my second visit, I sampled the bannock eggs benedict with bison and some frybread to go. Once again, every last bite hit. Shout out to my server both days, whose name I never got (might be Robyn from other reviews I've seen recently?) She was so congenial and attentive, in spite of her having to take care of 5-10 tables at a time on consecutive days. She made great small talk and was a tremendous ambassador for the restaurant, for which no advocacy is necessary: the food and atmosphere speak for themselves. Can't wait to go back again: thanks, FCB!
