I funneled thousands of dollars into projects over many weeks. When he first quoted me, he said his going rate was $60 per hour... expensive, but if he was reliable and got the job done, I didn't have a problem with it. He does do good work, but I need to warn you, he is extremely messy, and whenever he finishes a project, he will leave trash everywhere and not clean up anything. One of his messes was so bad he did not release he left his own tools behind. He was reliable until this past weekend. He did not show up to install our oven so my husband and I did it ourselves. At 2 pm he told us he was on his way. Then comes my deck steps project. This is when everything changed. He spent 4 days sanding 7 steps and 2 handrails. Shows up between 10-12 and left at 5-6 daily, total hours worked 26 hours (verified with cameras). At the end of day one I asked him how much I owed him. He told me it's best to do price at end of project and he was using his going rate which was quoted at $60. Should have been a major red flag to me, but I was like OK $60... he takes a lot of breaks, smoking cigarettes and talking on his phone. Ok, people need breaks, no worries. Yesterday he finished work and it looks HORRIBLE. Even he knows it's bad and says he will come back and paint more. Now here is the kicker, for 2 handrails and 7 steps, it was $3,400!!!! He said it is $3,200 labor and $200 labor. $123/hour!!!! I shared my shock with him and he said paint is hard and dusty. Not $123/hour hard... he absolutely took advantage of a customer and lost multiple others in the process. Because I was initially impressed, many neighbors wanted to use him which will no longer be happening. He came down to $3000 as a favor. Whatever. I paid it and asked him to never come back, he is no longer welcome here. Look at his replies to other comments, he says leave a 5 star review or no review. Unfortunately I will not be bullied by a person who took advantage of me and forces a good review or none. Use his services at your own risk and know that painting is $800/day which is 6 hours, not even a full day. Absolutely insane.

We first met with our sales rep, Mike Luick, and he was very nice & had a really good understanding of the complexity involved in building the structures. He stated he would have "Archadeck's best carpenter" work on our project and there is no doubt that we definitely received the best. Colby Parks and his dad, Gene, were phenomenal to work alongside and set the bar high for any other carpenter or any type of contractor we ever encounter. Colby is a master carpenter - he is highly skilled, smart, an excellent communicator & problem solver and takes great pride in every single detail. Colby & Gene kept a meticulously clean jobsite and even put plastic under their truck to be sure oil didn't leak on our driveway - these are the little things that are a big deal. Ultimately, they cared just as much about the final product as we did - as if it were their own. We did encounter issues with the stain crew on our rear deck, but without going into all of the details, I'll just say that between Mike Luick and the stain crew supervisor, Ismael, they did whatever it took to make things right & to make sure we were completely satisfied. In the end we love our new porches and rear deck. Here are our Pros and Cons: PROS: 1. Colby Parks and Gene Parks 2. Archadeck did whatever we requested to fix any and all issues we encountered with the staining to make sure we were completely satisfied. 3. Mike Luick is great to work with and very professional - nice guy. 4. Ismael - I'm sure he's always "putting out fires", but he keeps things very professional & is always friendly. 5. Warranty CONS: 1. Expensive - Archadeck should only use Premium lumber on their projects, especially for the price we paid. 2. Stain crew - did not take pride in their work, were in a rush to get it done and always left trash or debris in our yard.

From there, he proceeded to give unsolicited marital advice before packing up his things and leaving. It took a lot of restraint not to respond rudely in return. Bless his heart.
