It is hard for me to put into words the deep appreciation and admiration I have for everyone at The…read moreStone Man for transforming my backyard into my own outdoor oasis. During the planning/ design phase, Chris Davis met with me multiple times, both at my house and on-site at The Stone Man to develop and refine initial sketches. Working with me to understand what my dream goal would be, and finding a way to get the design completed within budget was greatly appreciated. Chris remained professional and patient with me throughout the planning phase, and his work was greatly appreciated. Once the construction began, Jon Purdue and team worked diligently on-site around the clock to transform our design vision into reality; and did the final result exceed expectations! I have confidence the team can complete any project, large or small, after seeing the work completed. The team developed the following: - Retaining wall designed in variable height from approx. 4 feet to 6 feet (to meet an architecture design I requested) - Large covered area with a fireplace, wet bar, and bar seating for 4 - Outdoor kitchen equipped with a custom designed brick oven - Outdoor fire pit with a seating wall, and additional seating for 4 adirondack chairs - Large paver area, complete with matching stone trim, which ties into countertops, fireplace, fire pit, etc. The daily workers on-site (led by Leo) are truly artist at their profession. One advantage of working from home during the pandemic was to be able to see the team hand chipping stone and building truly one of a kind masterful pieces. Jon did an exceptional job managing the project, checking in with me via phone or on-site multiple times a week. When sub-contractors came on-site to complete the work, they presented the same professionalism as the team from The Stone Man. Through conversations with the various sub-contractors, it was evident The Stone Man team performs a lot of reoccurring work with these groups, and the quality of work and professionalism exemplified by the team at The Stone Man was cascaded throughout all groups involved. Post-production, both Jon and Chris continue to check-in to ensure the work quality remains. Whether it be phone calls, text, hand written notes, or stopping by for small adjustments, this team is committed to excellence from start to finish and beyond. Throughout the process, not only did I gain a backyard design beyond my wildest dreams but I truly did gain friends that I hope to have over for a drink/ food to admire their work and realize how happy I am with the finished product. If you are looking for a professional and personable team who delivers the highest of quality work, look no further than The Stone Man. I did lots of research on others as well as this team, and am happy with the decision to proceed with the team.

The process of meeting with them was great, we started the design process, and a rough estimate was delivered which met our budget. When we did all our material selection, the final estimate was very close to our rough project estimate which was great - no surprise costs. Communication was great and when the project started our project manager was in contact with us every day until completion. We had periodic touchpoints to make sure we were happy, and they quickly resolved any questions we had. The masons were great, clean, professional, and considerate. From start to finish we couldn't be happier with the process, and the final product. One thing that stands out to me was how engaged the whole company was with our project. They make you feel like you are the only project they have, which is light years better than some other contactors we have worked with. We have already recommended them to a few friends and will be utilizing them again in the future when we decided to complete our project.

Very impressive customer service. The work was immaculate and the follow up was equally impressive. Jack (owner) communicated with me at first in person, on my property, followed by a quote the next day and then a couple of days before the job was to commence and once during wrap up. The final call was to collect a balance and he waited two weeks before doing that. There were several texts send by me; ie these guys are great etc. He did not appear to be bottom line driven but with his focus on my satisfaction. Of course all business owner want to get paid but that never felt like his priority. It's an art to make a client feel the way I did upon completion. Well done! For the reviews that discuss quotes and didn't select them, the cheap comes out expensive. I would expect most painters to have similar quotes and recommend getting 2 or 3 but paying a bit more for a great job done quickly, that's a no brainer to me. fyi; NEVER accept the cheapest quote and there's a subtle art to a contract negotiation. Don't play games and say what your budget is up front. It makes things go smoothly from the start and the business owner will appreciate your forthrightness. The company will say yes, no or counter. My house looks amazing and that was my #1 goal. It's important to mention that I took a bit too long responding as I am a very busy guy who travels a ton. Glad I chose this team and I'm looking forward to the next project!

READ BEFORE YOU BOOK THEM…read more Just to start, he dropped my brand new out the box 65" TV ( $700 ) and busted it while he was chatting on the phone. We had to wait 3 days for the install. He damaged our walls, left holes (8) and then toke us to court for $80 he still changed for the install!!! Geesh! We had a Christmas party and wanted to have the TV mounted so we could play music HOW IT STARTED. He arrived 30 minutes after the agreed time (3pm Christmas Eve) but that wasn't a big deal, it's Christmas Eve. Once he arrived he was very talkative about things not related to the job. I left him to work so it could get done since I felt like a distraction. However, I actually ended up feeling a bit uneasy at first because he came into The kitchen while I was washing dishes, walking up behind me...that startled me. He randomly was asking about my kitchen cabinets and random things. He started sharing Things like how he hunts and owns land, the people he knows, even sharing an experience he had when he felt sexually disrespected by a friend! I honesty went to my safe and put my gun on me. I didn't know where that was going, it was really weird. (My husband was at work so we were all alone). It was really hard to feel comfortable with him talking so much and moving around in areas not related to the job but at some point I just sat down and started recording him. HOW THE TV GOT BUSTED: (RECORDED ON VIDEO) He received a call and had the phone held under his cheek so he could talk. As he picked the TV up he had laid face down on the floor, it slipped out of his hand and he almost dropped his phone. Saving his phone he dropped the TV. He said a few words but proceeded to mount the TV. Once it was mounted, plugged up and turned on the screen was destroyed. Derrick, the guy doing the install, finally tells me he's going to buy a new TV to avoid filing an insurance claim. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT Derrick walked out the door and I asked him if I needed to text him the TV model, he said no that he got it. An hour later he comes back as promised with a new orange box TV...one problem, that's wasn't what I paid for. Once he got it in the house I told him it wasn't the same as the TV he broke. He argued that it was, a 65" TV but I had to show him the brand was wrong. That TV was about $200 cheaper than my TV. He was very upset and walked outside mumbling certain !#% words to himself. THE SECOND REPLACEMENT He left out to get the right TV. At this point it's TWO HOURS LATER... almost 5:30pm. I sent him a picture of the right TV and the store he could find them at. A little over an hour later he comes back with the right TV. At this point he's fussing and complaining about the entire situation. He mounts the TV but the measurements and level were wrong so he had to redrill. He drilled so much he offered to patch the holes for free when we moved. Smh. TV mounted, plugged up and turned on, BUSTED! Screen messed up. At this point he lost it. THE OFFER IT WAS TOO LATE to get another TV so he promised to come back after Christmas to Replace the TV again. THE THRID REPLACEMENT As promised he showed up an hour early, got the TV and receipt he left and went to get a new TV. ! He is extremely talkative. My husband helped him with the mount, plugged up turned on it worked! THE ARGUMENT ONCE THE TV WAS MOUNTED he told me he was sending an invoice for payment. While I fully intended to pay at the beginning I was surprised he wanted me to pay the full amount cost giving nothing for the loss we incurred for Christmas nor our inconvenience. Nothing. He argued with my husband for about 15 minutes about how he spent gas . (Drilled over 6 extra holes in our wall, big holes, and my husband helped him mount the TV) THE END I simply told him he owes me a discount. I didn't ask for free, even though I feel like it should be. He eventually offered $80 but I'm not sure he should get that. This entire event is recorded. My advice to you...RECORD

I funneled thousands of dollars into projects over many weeks. When he first quoted me, he said his going rate was $60 per hour... expensive, but if he was reliable and got the job done, I didn't have a problem with it. He does do good work, but I need to warn you, he is extremely messy, and whenever he finishes a project, he will leave trash everywhere and not clean up anything. One of his messes was so bad he did not release he left his own tools behind. He was reliable until this past weekend. He did not show up to install our oven so my husband and I did it ourselves. At 2 pm he told us he was on his way. Then comes my deck steps project. This is when everything changed. He spent 4 days sanding 7 steps and 2 handrails. Shows up between 10-12 and left at 5-6 daily, total hours worked 26 hours (verified with cameras). At the end of day one I asked him how much I owed him. He told me it's best to do price at end of project and he was using his going rate which was quoted at $60. Should have been a major red flag to me, but I was like OK $60... he takes a lot of breaks, smoking cigarettes and talking on his phone. Ok, people need breaks, no worries. Yesterday he finished work and it looks HORRIBLE. Even he knows it's bad and says he will come back and paint more. Now here is the kicker, for 2 handrails and 7 steps, it was $3,400!!!! He said it is $3,200 labor and $200 labor. $123/hour!!!! I shared my shock with him and he said paint is hard and dusty. Not $123/hour hard... he absolutely took advantage of a customer and lost multiple others in the process. Because I was initially impressed, many neighbors wanted to use him which will no longer be happening. He came down to $3000 as a favor. Whatever. I paid it and asked him to never come back, he is no longer welcome here. Look at his replies to other comments, he says leave a 5 star review or no review. Unfortunately I will not be bullied by a person who took advantage of me and forces a good review or none. Use his services at your own risk and know that painting is $800/day which is 6 hours, not even a full day. Absolutely insane.
